Bachmann: I'll get gas under $2

If its OK for politicians to promise to "create" jobs, then I guess its OK to defy the rules of the market and pledge you will get gas under $2 a gallon if elected.
Get these people out on their bus tours and town hall meetings and they will say anything...The silly season is now year round.

No kidding...well maybe she worked out a deal with God.

Average gas prices were $1.65 a gallon in December of 2008, just before the Annointed and Gifted One took office. That's a fact. So, it's not that unbelieveable that we could get it down to the $2 range again. Lower the taxes on gasoline and start drilling again. But we wouldn't want to do that. Sorry to remind you dumb bastards of the facts. You put the guy in office.

Why do politicians say dumb things , that they have no control over? Yet, they wonder why people mock the political class we have today.

Anonymous said...

Delusional, crazy, and a chronic compulsive liar.
Not dumb by any means, but seemingly unable to realise that there's a lot more people watching than there used to be.

I DIDN'T VOTE FOR HIM. I couldn't bring myself to vote for anyone with Hussein as part of his name.

"Average gas prices were $1.65 a gallon in December of 2008"
And the avg.gas price in April '08 was $3.15, July of '08 was over $4, In Sept., still around $3.80.
Bush,... you put the guy in office.
Takes about 2 seconds to check your cherry picking of the facts.
No wonder you like Bachman and Perry. Cut from the same mold, Bushy.
We'll never see 2 bucks a gallon again.
One more thing,... more oil and gas drilling happening here right now than ever before. Perry's big-oil buddies put the price where they want it.

Yawn , Michelle who ? Call me a month before the elections then i'll paY ATTENTION .

UNTIL THEN ITS ALL NOISE

LMFAO, Hey… look every one… I can get gas under $2.00… by changing the unit of measure from gallon to liter. {sarcasm}

It's all empty posturing … and from now on, I will not be voting for any politician that does not qualify their statements.

How are you going to do this Ms. Bachman? Please, provide us with specific information and an exact explanation of what policies that you will personally put in place and then explain the potential effect of those policies.

The same goes for Mr. Obama's …I'll fix the economy right after my vacation BS.

It seems we are getting more one liners from politicians than from the comedians at Comedy Central.

Makes you wonder…who the “dumb bastards” really are.

7:25 You are lying again. The price was in the $1.60 range in December of '08. Plug your brain in and recheck your BS. I will wait for you apology. Try not to let your urge to refute take over your senses. We all await your apology. Even an honest ooops will be acceptable.

Anonymous said...

How are you going to do this Ms. Bachman? The awesome power of pray! The awesome power of pray? That's F@#king funny when pray doesn't work on curing cancer but will work on gas prices.

Anonymous said...

7:25 is on the money. Gas was over $4.00 a gallon during 2008, and as far as dropping to 1.65 by December of that year that is just delusional. Maybe in some other state it got that low, but not up here. And remember, the price of gas started climbing after bunghole invaded Iraq. Prior to that gas was around 1.80 a gallon.

Anonymous said...

11:54 I checked the graft myself while you are right that average gas price dipped to $1.60 a gallon it was only for two weeks following a steep decline in price per gallon, leading up to the 2008 election. With the hope of getting big oils friends elected. Having failed to get McCain/Palin and losing control of both houses. The price of gas soared ever upward ever since.

Idi-Amin-Duda said...

Almost half the price we pay for a gallon is taxs. It might work if they had something else to tax.

Very good guys. I was hoping when I put that post up that other people would fact-check that idiot. He cherry picks BS facts and tries to portray them as universal truth.
In other words a spin artist/flat out liar.
He's exactly the type of idiot that constantly tries to confuse the issues.
That's what we DON'T need while we're trying to straighten things out.

hermit thrush said...

here's a chart of average national gas prices for the past six years. everyone can take a look for themselves. the (again, national average) price reached a high of about $4.12/gallon in july 2008, and declined all the way to a low of about $1.61/gallon in december 2008. and while, sure, everyone loves low gas prices, we should all remind ourselves that that decline was the result of the worst recession since the great dpression and the ensuing collapse in worldwide demand. i sure hope that's not the sort of thing bachmann has in mind with her ridiculous claim that she'll get prices back down under $2.

Anonymous said...

FWIW...you don't have to defy the rules of the market to lower gas prices because the government is writing half the rules, which determine the market.

Anonymous said...

9:00, you can mail me the money if you'd like to bet on it. For whatever reason. Gas prices, national average, were in the $1.60 range at that time. You a lying too, or mistaken, and 7:25 is stangely silent. I will await the apology. This is what one usually gets from people like this. They are so anxious to counter they speak before thinking. Looks like you are doing the same thing. I'm here for you when you want to try a little honesty.

Anonymous said...

Do a Google Search. Ha ha. It was down in the $2 range for that time period. You can even ask Mikey.

Anonymous said...

And one more thing. The price dip 11:01 speaks of took place in DECEMBER of that year, AFTER the election. Why would the friends of Republicans do that AFTER the election was over to try to get their "friends" elected? It was a neat story, but BS. Just a couple of facts for the cool aide drinkers to ponder. It's just this kind of dishonesty and group think that explains why we have the leadership in Washington that we have.

Danny M. Francis said...

Bachmann says she will "get gas for under $2.00?" I guess she doesn't get gas for having a Value Meal for $1.75?

Hey, she said it, not me.

Anonymous said...

And I'm still here, waiting for an apology. Lots of talking but still no apology. You can talk about cherry picked this and that and you can twist whatever you want. Point is, when I said $1.60 a gallon, I was right. You guys lied and now you are trying desperately to explain away your lies. Remember, just an "oooops" will be just fine. 7:25, you need to tell the truth, now and then.

Anonymous said...

I don't know what that means, Dan?

hermit thrush said...

anon 7:25 has nothing to apologize for. i don't know about the "perry's big oil buddies" part, but everything else in his/her post is correct. the accusaton of "cherry picking" isn't to say that anyone is making false statements, it's to say that isolated facts are being used out of context (in this case, the price of gas in dec. 2008) to paint a misleading picture. which is a perfectly valid accusation!

Anonymous said...

Half of these post that are Anon are Mike....

Anonymous said...

So now we have Klemwit cherry picking the lies. We meant that one but not this one, eh Klemwit? Sorry boys, what was stated about gas prices was truthful. Wiggle all you want, but your response was not truthful. Apology is in order. In Dec '08 the price of gas was $1.65. Next time, before going stupid in your zeal to disagree, secure the facts.

Anonymous said...

7:25 has not been heard from since. His apologists have.

hermit thrush said...

ok great, it's the crazy wingnut troll! what can you say but: next time, before going stupid in your zeal to disagree, learn how to read.

because let's review what happened here. you started off by saying that the price of gas in dec. 2008 was in the $1.60's. that was correct. good job. and then anon 7:25 came along and pointed out (also correctly) what the price of gas was at some other times in 2008. s/he didn't say you were wrong about the december price. just that it was cherry picked. because it was really different from prices at other times of the year. which, again, is 100% correct.

and then at 11:54 you kind of spazzed out little bit, accused 7:25 of lying, and demanded an apology. all for him/her having correctly pointed out the price of gas at some other times in 2008. it must be quite a world you live in, to demand an apology for that. when there was nothing to apologize for. it doesn't make you look too good.

and now, to be fair, in some subsequent comments on this thread people really have been saying that the price of gas in december 2008 was higher. those people are wrong. if you want to get in a big huff and demand an apology from them, then have at it. but you've got to do a bit better with focusing the rage.

Anonymous said...

You're right, 1:02.
This guy, (9:04, just to make sure he's got a good grasp on who I'm talking about ), is unbalanced. Mental picture isn't good.
Why is it that the guy with the biggest mouth is usually the dumbest.

Anonymous said...

LOL... I wonder if 11:54 has been holding his/her breath while waiting for an apology. It's been a while.

Anonymous said...

Crazy man here. No Klemwit, you are lying again, and still. No amount of spin will change the facts. No retelling of the story will change anything. I simply stated that in Dec of '08, when The Great One took over, gas was indeed $1.65 a gallon. Therefore, it was not outrageous to claim that it could be brought down to that level again. That's it. That's what was said. 7:25 then had a period, and called me a liar, stating my facts were wrong. They were not. You have since done your dishonest duty and defended him. This can presumably be based on your hatred of me and the fact that I have consistantly pointed our your own situationally motivated ethical standards. You are demonstrating them again here. Anything for your point, eh Klimwit? Actually I'm not upset at all. It's you libs who stay mad of late. Things seem to be going very well in this country and you are very defensive about it. I don't blame you a bit. But if you wish lie about facts, please do so somewhere else. I won't wait for an apology for either of you any more. You're not up to it. At least 7:25 had sense enough to just run away.

Anonymous said...

As soon as supply outstrips demand the price will come down. If the figures I have seen around the interent are correct, Congress was given a report in 2006 that said that we have more oil under the Continental U.S. than all of the Arab Emerites combined (something like over 2000 years worth at current usage levels). And this does not say anyhting about our offshore supplies. I read somewhere on the news services that North Dakota and Montana are already gearing up production. From what I understand, it is the lack of refinery capacity that is biting us in the butt.

“libs”… of course, here we go again… the “libs are the blame for everything mentally.”

What’s next… the crucifixion?

Based on your own and paranoid and idiotic comments, a more accurate statement might be… “You neo-tards are crazy.”

You might want to consider de-programming yourself while you’re waiting for the apology you’ll never get.

sometimes i really wonder what goes on in a mind like crazy wingnut troll's. the inability to process reality is just stunning. it's kind of beyond run-of-the-mill stupidity, in a way.

and indeed there's too much derangement in the troll's latest for me to have time to address it all. so let's just look at this.

7:25 then had a period, and called me a liar, stating my facts were wrong.

never mind how disgusting the whole "had a period" thing is. this isn't really very complicated. we can all scroll back up and read exactly what's in anon 7:25's comment. i've done so several times. the troll evidently hasn't properly read 7:25's comment even once yet, but now would be a good time to try again.

he'd find that nowhere in the comment is anyone called a liar. nowhere in the comment is the assertion made that the troll's facts are wrong.

it's the troll who's lying right now. it's the troll who's an idiot for dreaming things up and demanding an apology in the first place.

now, to be fair, anon 7:25 does assert that gas is never going below $2 a gallon again. that's different from what the troll thinks, but it's a difference of opinion, not of fact. which, at least per the troll's own words,* means that it's not what's gotten him so fired up.

so, does the troll disagree with any of this? there's a simple test. 7:25's comment is right up there. just scroll. if our troll can find where 7:25 calls anyone a liar, or says that the troll's facts are wrong, then just copy and paste the exact words into a new comment and show us all.

no more of this baloney about what the troll thinks 7:25 did or didn't say. just show us the exact words. if the troll can show them, then i'll gladly apologize. if not -- if we get a reply from him that's just a bunch of yammering without the direct quotes, or that only manages to quote other comments -- then we'll all be able to see very plainly what a damn fool he is. (not that more evidence is necessary.)

ball's in your court, troll. go get 'em, tiger!

*not to imply that the troll's own words should be taken as all that reliable.

Hey Puke man-- I've been waiting to see just how stupid you could be and how long you could keep it on high. Lifetime, apparently.
I answered immediately up there. You're just too, too, dumb.
Several other people have tried to explain it to you. Hermit Thrush did a real nice job. Just can't get it through the dead brain.
This one really gave me a kick.
"Things seem to be going very well in this country and you are very defensive about it."
Wow,--- I don't know what to say about that one. Point a state out, or an area, where things are going well. And supply some proof,... facts and numbers that back up your statement. And where you got them.

Anonymous said...

"sometimes i really wonder what goes on in a mind like crazy wingnut troll's. the inability to process reality is just stunning. it's kind of beyond run-of-the-mill stupidity, in a way."--

Closer to dangerous, in the wrong situation. The inability and/or unwillingness to see and accept what's in front of your face worries me. Guys like the troll have always been there,.. always been around. But it sure seems like there's more lately.
And, (you already know this), he won't accept that nice little piece of logical progression you just put in front of him. Get ready for more mindless insults accompanying statements bereft of fact.

Anonymous said...

He told the truth and won't accept lying on your part. That must really really upset you 8:08. What was said was truthful and factual. You attempted to explain it away by spin. That will never work, thankfully. And the "mindless insults" you mention all seem to come from you. "Crazy, wingnut, troll, mindless", all your words.

You've painted yourself into a corner and you are desperate. This all comes down to one thing. I stated the price of gas in '08, correctly. You and yours countered, accused me of lying. You were wrong and won't admit it. No big deal. But don't make it into more than it is. Your politics trumps your ethics. There, no name calling, no rage. Those are your methods.

Anonymous said...

"What was said was truthful and factual."--- Neither,..in the way it was used.

"And the "mindless insults" you mention all seem to come from you."
You're truly an amazing specimen, ... to be able to write that. Has anybody ever studied you?

"I stated the price of gas in '08, correctly."---Yeah,... again, one more time,... nobody has argued that. I think it's the first totally factual statement I've seen you make on here, Puke man. It's what you were trying to do with it that made it a disingenous statement. God, you hang on to a flawed talking point with a "Palinesque" tenacity. As far as I know, she's still telling people that Paul Revere was warning the British. Go reread Hermit Thrush's post. Try to grasp the concept.

"There, no name calling, no rage. Those are your methods."--- No,... No,... you'd never. Well, that should cement it. Everybody can call you a total wack job with a clear conscience now.

Anonymous said...

So now you are admitting you lied about the numbers, but you are continuing your personal attacks, presumably to save face. Why am I not surprised? Not a problem. I must have you pegged perfectly or you wouldn't be defending dishonesty with such determination. In fact, that is why this exchange continues as it does. You have humiliated yourself by choosing to fight over a mistake that YOU made. Now you haven't the courage to back off. You would rather rub your own nose in it than admit either a mistake or an untruth. That's why you feel compelled to make the personal attacks. You cannot admit your position is untruthful. That seems to be a common practice with libs when they are caught lying. You fit the pattern perfectly.

Anonymous said...

The average price of a gallon of gas when Obama took office was $1.84.
I thought you were right about that one thing,... but you're wrong.
Signing off on that one. Get some help.

hermit thrush said...

dear crazy wingnut troll,

you continue to show a complete inability to process reality. you continue to insist that anon 7:25 called you a liar and asserted that your facts are wrong. but his/her comment did no such thing. as a result, you're the one who's lying.

again, there's a simple way to settle this. just show us the quotes. scroll up, copy the quotes out of 7:25's comments and show us. no quotes, and you'll make it very plain that you're a damned fool. very simple, even for you.

hermit thrush said...

to be fair, anon 8:41, the troll* did cite the price of gas in december 2008, not when obama took office a few weeks later. i think the troll's number for december is correct.

*i guess it's not clear that the troll is working alone here. 8:25 makes it sound like he has a friend. or maybe he just has a split personality disorder. for sure, he's got a screw or two loose.

Anonymous said...

Finally, Limwit admits that he was wrong. Is that as close as he will come to an apology? So all the accusations and spin was just that, eh Kelwit? Next time, don't be so fast to refute. Or at least have your facts straight when you do.

Anonymous said...

No Thrush,... This is from one of his recent, "factual" statements above.

"I simply stated that in Dec of '08, when The Great One took over, gas was indeed $1.65 a gallon."

So, he's confusing, (imagine that), the election with inauguration. Until January 20, Obama was pres. elect. Not in charge. Just another little factoid that will keep him confused. It'll be fun to hear how he answers that.

I do, however, appreciate your making the attempt to be fair. Shows some character. Rather have that than what we see is the alternative.
Time to ignore the guy.
Here's a question,... if you avoid a rabid dog, does it mean you're running away? Probably only in the eyes of the dog.

"i guess it's not clear that the troll is working alone here."--- Yeah, tough to figure that one out, wasn't it. The guy has a unique writing style.
Don't ya, Puke guy.

hermit thrush said...

thank you for the correction, 3:48. you're completely correct.

still no quotes from the crazy wingnut troll. no surprise there. instead we get a new blatant perversion of reality, that i've admitted i'm wrong to him.

well, sweet honey bunny troll, let me show you how this whole quoting thing works. here's a selection of what i've had to say in this thread.

* the (again, national average) price... declined all the way to a low of about $1.61/gallon in december 2008.

* the accusaton of "cherry picking" isn't to say that anyone is making false statements

* you started off by saying that the price of gas in dec. 2008 was in the $1.60's. that was correct. good job.

* and now, to be fair, in some subsequent comments on this thread people really have been saying that the price of gas in december 2008 was higher. those people are wrong.

so as everyone can very plainly see, i've agreed with the troll all along about the price of gas in december 2008. it's open-and-shut. but the troll can't deal with reality. he can't it through his head. i guess it's kind of hard when there are rocks in there.

Anonymous said...

And that's pretty close to an apology, I'd say. Or at least as close to one as I will get. Thank you Limwit. Now wouldn't it just have been easier to have said I was right in the beginning? I never did get one from 7:25. He's still running.

hermit thrush said...

still no quotes from the troll.

he just wants to turn an open-and-shut refutation of him into an apology.

reality is no match for this guy.

Anonymous said...

Ahh Man, does this mean you're NOT apologizing after all? I thought we had put it to rest. I'm so surprised and disappointed. $1.65 a gallon when your boy took over. Facts are stubborn things. Don't need a link for that. Reality is enough. Ya gots this problem. You're trying to spin this into a story that red is really green. It's a tough sell, even for a bird. We live in funny world and I'm enjoying your attempt. What will it be next.
