Schneiderman Pays Himself Back

Thank goodness he got his money back. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman loaned his campaign $550,000 and through diligent fundraising since his 2010 election, the AG has paid himself back.....
Mr. Schneiderman was a state senator at the time he ponied up the money to further his AG campaign.
Now if he had lost that primary to Kathleen Rice, and didn't have an office to use as a platform to raise the money, what would happen ? I guess that's the risk he took in seeking to become a "public servant."

That's Governor Schneiderman to you. He's next in line in this one party state. The way Cuomo is going I'd like to keep him a while. Schneiderman doesn't impress.

This sort of thing screams for campaign finance reform that actually works.

No amount of campaign money, in my view, should be allowed to pay for rent, travel, shopping, or to pay back a candidate's personal loan at all ...

Only legitimate campaign expenses should be allowed - otherwise the donors are contributing to offering a bribe in return for a vote.

If a candidate gives his/her own money to their own campaign, then okay, but they should not expect donors to repay their "loans" to themselves.

That just sounds shady to me, and it always has.

Nothing is as shady as Thug Sheldon's practice of working "of counsel" to outside law firms that do business with the state, then not reporting the income. But Dannie has a good point. Not that it matters in this welfare state. A Dem is a Dem.
