I get it...Brinksmanship is often the only way a deal is struck when the options are as uncomfortable as raising taxes or cutting entitlements.
But these debt talks in DC have an Albany-like flavor. Instead of three men in a room, its five people in a room...The four legislative leaders and the President.
Presumably they will produce a last minute deal that the respective flocks (parties) will vote for without debate or amendment.
The problem is these lemmings call lawmakers are getting antsy about sitting in DC waiting to be told what the deal is...
Meanwhile all have bought into the August 2 deadline on raising the debt limit. Actually, its not as simple as one day its all over. With revenue still coming in, the Fed can still write checks...just not checks to everyone..
The truth is whatever happens the debt limit will go up and the deficit will not go away. There will be threats of closing a campground at Yellowstone or shutting down the National Weather Service. No one will think about all the foreign entanglements that are bleeding us. And the complexities of the medical system will prevent any changes to Medicare.
It's beyond resolution. We just have to compromise where we can and hope for the best.

All of this is good. If we had not thrown Nancie out as Speaker the spending would have just continued unquestioned. To the Dannie types all would have been just Hunky Dory. This is a fight that needs to happen. We cannot spend what we do not have.
Most drug addicts end up selling all their possessions for pennies on the dollar. I bet we could get a few billion for Yellowstone alone. I know Obama would spend that in 6 hours but it would still help.
It is embarrassing listening to the MSN and the left try to compare this record spending and record deficit and record debt with Bush. Or try to blame it on the tax cuts Bush enacted to successfully stave off the Clinton recession. A blame that requires static analysis instead of the rudimentary yet infinitely more complicated concept of dynamic analysis.
Problem? No leadership: It is lagging and lacking and lousy.
All I see is ugly political posturing for next year: to ensure that Obama is a "one-term resident, stays a liar, remains a Muslim who was not born in the U.S., is a socialist, and of course, is at his Waterloo."
Not my words - those all belong to the righties, plus more, much much more. The vile hatred for this man is overwhelming.
I agree that the hatred for Obama is "overwhelming".
Of course I hate him because he is black most of all but...
maybe just maybe I hate him because of his policies and his decision to purposely surround himself with douche bags.

Hillary ...a polarizing figure even though I personally like her and do not put her in the same category as those other buttholes.
