Governor Cuomo Launches North Country Regional Economic Development Council

I am pleased to be one of five Jefferson County representitives on Governor Cuomo's North Country Regional Economic Development Council named today in Potsdam.
Jim Wright of DANC, Carl McLaughlin of the FDRLO, Timeless Frames owner Lisa Weber and Jefferson County Legislature Chair Carolyn Fitzpatrick are also on the body.
In the coming weeks representitives from ten regions across the state will meet to devise a jobs strategy for their region. The plan will be used in competing for economic development dollars from Albany.
Just as important is the sessions will create some synergy among people across the usual geo-political boundaries.
Given the importance of jobs and education to the North Country I am pleased and honored to represent our area in this process.
Only two mayors were chosen as members with Plattsburgh the other city.

what a crock. set aside the demonstrated ineptitude of gov't central-planning ...

the actions of the federal reserve & Uncle Sam's addiction to all things war will doom even the most modest attempts.

NYS must relentlessly demand the achievement of peace. NYS must prepare for the collapse of the dollar & stop living this fantasy that Uncle Sam will go on forever.

there are solutions but none to be found in the same ol', same ol', strategy.

Jeff must not want everyone to know the truth since he wont post comments. All mayors with a population of 30,000 or more were appointed. Not Jeff all mayor no matter who it is. The Mayors are also only for dicussion only. They do not have a vote.

I posted your comment as I do not want you to miss the opportunity to diminish my participation in this initiative.
For the record, I do stipulate that some mayors and county board chairs were placed on the panel as "ex-officio" members to allow for their input.
There are no cities of over 30,000 in this region, but I am sure Plattsburgh and Watertown seemed the logical choices for such participation.
I didn't orginally post your comment because it was factually incorrect, but since you are so persistent in your efforts, I did post it.

Cheers.

On the surface, this group could be unwieldy. The geography includes 4 different regions - Watertown, Plattsburgh, St. Lawrence Valley and Adirondacks - each with different issues and agendas.

Will the co-chairs need referees shirts?
