It's always good to hear the perspective of the other side....Middle Class Mike called the HOTLINE today and mused about President Obama's prospects...
Mike says the strongest GOP ticket would be Governor Chris Christie and Rep. Michelle Bachmann for VP. He says its because they have clarity of conviction and believe in what they believe, whereas the President does not.
I thought it an interesting view from a "progressive" who says the public wants a candidate committed to ideas...any ideas...more than a schmoozer.
Mike will vote for the President, but his analysis was sound.

I'd like to see Marco Rubio on there someplace. Maybe in the future. MSM hasn't had time to destroy him yet. Gotta drum up the hate.
But MCM is never right about anything.
Christie is the man.
But Bachmann is like a smarter Palin that panders to the right just as much if not more. That is good to win a primary but bad to win a general election.
No one cares about conviction. Look at Clinton and his lunge to the center based on the poll numbers. He got reelected for it.
Christie and Mitt would win.
Christie would win without announcing a running mate better than if he ran with one.
I've been a registered republican all of my voting life, but at this point I am ashamed of the GOP. I'm ashamed of the American government and of many Americans. Let's face it, the inability of the of Obama to help America thru this crisis is the refuasal of the Republicans to help him. This guy scares people. He's an articulate, self made black guy and it's more than many people can handle. No one will speak these words and I doubt if I will see them on this blog, but this is the real issue. The people of this country would rather vote for an intellectual dwarf like Bachmann, God help us all. Our government no longer cares about the working class, what a shame. If this government isn't going to give the future generations Medicare or social security checks why aren't the people demanding a refund or at best we should stop paying into a system that is going to to belly up.
Bachmann or anyone else in that league may believe what they believe - hell why not, but that does not make them in step with the vast majority of the country - TEA madmatters, sure, possibly.
Just because someone believes in what they believe in does not necessarily make them good leaders, effective in anything public-related or sound in the mental department.
Look at history and see who believed in what they believed in and see how much was good and how much was not - I could cite some examples, but I don't want to rattle any cages.
I don't know if Bachmann is an intellectual dwarf with her expertise in tax law and all. But I do know that being a good government leader does not take an intellectual and indeed the worst leaders are known as intellectuals. Faculty lounge types like Obama are proof that "those who can't do, teach"
Hey, 6:41 anon; yeah, you! the "I'm not really a voting Republican, I just play one on webboards to slip the false white-guilt argument into play" puke.
Obama articulate? Then you ain't been listening.
Obama self-made? He's a gov't slug!! it's all fantasy!; the Predator-Drone-in-Chief, the Nobel Peace winner out murdering people!! Get it?!.
You wanna play lemming? - then go right ahead. Stick with the Keynesian statist of both parties.
But have some argument other than the 'he scares white folk' crap.
"I don't know if Bachmann is an intellectual dwarf with her expertise in tax law and all.",--- This is a problem. With Bachman's obvious penchant for stretching/making up facts to make her points, I don't think it's safe to assume she has real expertise in tax law or anything else.
Just because she says it doesn't make it true.
Added scrutiny now, because of the national stage. More people will be digging deeper and harder. I'm betting they'll find a lot. Fact-checkers job security.

You can't stand a 'Black President' and even have to call him a 'Muslim President' every chance you get on radio or this blog. Grow-up! MCM is just saying Obama needs to speak more like a Democrat and less like some one trying to get along with you Republicans.
Why can't people admit woman are smarter then men? At least Republican woman, versus, Republican men?

Christie is a fatass blowhard loudmouth thug. For those who like that sort of stuff, then move to NJ and watch him, or help him attack the middle class, teachers, seniors, Unions, and citizens who ask him a straight forward question on his radio appearances -
Bachman, even the name is scary. Wake up America, don't let religious fundamentalism ruin our country. They will have us searching back allies for abortions for pregnancies we haven't planned for. Women, be very afraid of this woman, she is not a woman's woman. And June 30, 2:48AM...."ain't, puke?" "Yeah you?" You are a scared little rabbit, obviously ill mannered and ill bred.
I am very much pro abortion and not pro choice but really 4:26? Is that the worst thing that can happen...that abortions become harder to obtain?
Your position is so extreme that it makes Bachmann look like a moderate....and a genius.
On one radio appearance, Gov. Christie was asked "if the media were to put him under the brite light, would they find anything?"He paused, and said, "they would find out that I'm fat, and the hot light would make me sweat." Is there any other politician out there, who would give an answer, such as he did? My point? I appreciate a person/politician, who can find common ground to relate to everyday people. It's not about the right or left, which to me, sound more like gangs in search of identity. Why can't people think more on thier own?

Kathryn, calm yourself. Time for a Midol? With the debt this country is facing how is it you can lecture about the pending "ruin of our country?" And spare us the same ol "back allies (sp?) abortion/pregnancy" poop. Twenty years is too long to use that pablum. Dontcha think? So now we hear from YOU what a woman's woman is? Your hormones runneth over my dear.
ANON 7:34
Try speaking to a lady like she has a brain, I know in your Republican/Teabagger World woman are supposed to pipe down. You're insulting and not saying anything that's bright or poite. Kathryn has a right to say it her way and if that bothers you ... tough.
Some truths don't change with the passage of time. The lack of availability in some states of clinics for woman to abort unwanted pregnancies is a national problem. There are people that can't afford to get on a plane or drive 600, 700 or a 1000 miles to get an abortion. They are still stuck with the back alley deal ... wake up a smell the coffee.
MCM
But the "lady" showed she had no brain from her comment about losing her right to kill babies. She can relax knowing that it takes way more than one right wing president to stop her from killing babies.
OH sure, she might have more trouble getting partial birth abortions...or be required to use old stem cell lines for government funded research instead of creating a new fetus for her studies. But she can still fund the studies her self and create new fetuses for the studies.
So to sum it up, no one with a brain could be that much of a drama queen.
Anon 8:43--- thanks for showing me that there's still some decency out there. Couldn't agree more.
Kathryn,... when you're dealing with these bigoted conservative baggers whose only MO is to shout people down, make sure you remember there's people out there that believe in your right to speak,... to have an opinion.
The guys with the biggest mouths mostly have the smallest IQs.
MCM,.. I'm with you on that.
Some people think that when you have an abortion you are killing a baby. And even though we understand that it is important to keep your right to kill a baby, we wonder why it is the most important political issue for you, since the president does not have the power to outlaw it.
Kathryn,--if you're still following this, don't listen to these clowns. For people who don't want gov. in their lives,...they sure seem to want gov. to control people's lives. Apparently it's good as long as it follows their ideology. Imagine that.
Republican=hypocrite
Democrats are the people that are always trying to have the government protect victims, under the guise that people cannot look out for themselves, but democrats don't care much about protecting unborn babies, who definitely cannot protect themselves.
But every democrat says, "oh, I could never have an abortion myself, but I would never take away a woman's right to choose". But you have to wonder, why is this the most important issue in the world to them?
Fortunately today, women have the choice to become a single parent if they so chose. I'm an old, gray haired woman and I can remember women trying to raise the money to go to Puerto Rico for safe terminations. I have also watched women bleed to death, lose the ability to have children, and sneak away from their homes while being forced to give up their children out of parental shame. Babies in garbage pails?? Parents who shame their children into murder. In my line of work I've seen it all and it isn't pretty. Remember we all have mothers, sisters, and daughters. I'm even wondering if some young women aren't chosing federally dependent lives by having children rather than being educated and productive. I'm an an advocate of freedom. Freedome of religion and freedom of choice.
Well...when you put it that way...
Bachmann!!!!!!
BOO!!!!
Scary stuff.
