Gay Marriage is Now Just Plain Marriage in NY

Marriage is a daily event at City Hall and for the City Clerk and her staff its nothing out of the ordinary....With Clerk Donna Dutton retiring the next clerk will now preside over a new kind of wedding.....Same sex couples will be able to wed after a vote tonight in the State Senate....a 33-29 vote in favor of same sex weddings.
Governor Andrew Cuomo will surely sign the bill which takes effect 30 days later.
The same sex bill might have had more votes, but Republicans were skittish about taking the risky vote...29 Democrats and four Republicans ended up voting yes....One Democrat and 28 Democrats voted no.
Senator Patty Ritchie and Senator Joe Griffo voted no.

Mayor Graham: your focus and coverage on the shifting sands of 'Same Sex Marriage' was outstanding the last few days. I did feel it was historic and something special in spite of the politics; it made Albany seem a little more in touch, with the will of a changing society.

Now we can talk about lack of jobs, lack of school effectiveness, the highest taxes in the nation, crime, our youth leaving, corrupt politicians...... Nah, lets do something else that's important. How bouts we do something fun like more gun laws. Or raise license fees. Or add some surcharges so people can pay more for the stuff they need. Slimeballs. Well at least Sally can marry Sally. What a freakin' relief.

Oh boy, now the pols in Albany can slap each others backs after resolving this "oh so huge" issue that 99% of us outside the media could care less about.

How about them tackling some tax, austerity and planning issues that actually effect the 48% of us?

48%? How bout 99% of us.

Geesh. Maybe Helmwit can marry Mikey. They could get tingles up each other's legs, so to speak. At least there would never be any arguments over morning coffee.

I wonder what the divorce rate will be.

These fools have lost our vote .

The tax cap bill is so compromised with weasel words that allow school districts to bond portions pension costs that NYSUT apparently supports it. So YOU get to PAY MORE SCHOOL TAXES -- IDIOTS in the Legislature

Gay marriage is an affront to most and a divisive issue that will only serve to continue - period, Civil Unions were the logical answer.
