Gay Marriage for This Year Slipping Away ? Sure Looks Like It

Proponents of same sex marrage improved their showing in the Senate from 24 to 31 over the past two years, but with the issue deadlocked at 31-31 and with a couple new polls showing NYer's narrowly against it, I suspect lawmakers will leave Albany without even voting on it....Other issues are headed towards resolution, but with non stop demonstrations by both sides of the marriage issue, it's increasingly unlikely anyone will offer to jump into that briar patch.
In Albany, all discussion is about marriage and those handful of other issues...But out in the real world, people are not as fascinated by the debate raging in Capitol hallways.
NOM Poll Says 57% Of NYers Oppose Same-Sex Marriage

What a shame...It all could have been done and gone. Now it will come back next year. It will come back like a bad penny...over and over. I am sick of people who can't see what it's about. The State want's the money from the expensive pieces of paper they sell to people getting married. Gay (people) want their rights they have wanted for years. It won't open up Pandora's box to freeks marrying horses. It will just put the darn thing to rest...some day.

Too bad gay leaders and gay advocates are such pig headed stubborn selfish jerks. They could have passed civil unions years ago
and by today they would be calling it marriage.

This isn't about rights it is about temper tantrums.

Not sure if it will pass or not, but the second part is inaccurate. There was one poll commissioned and written by a group against gay marriage (NOM) that says NY is against it. There have been several polls by independent sources (CNN, PEW, etc.) showing over 55% are for it. NY is in favor of the legislation passing or else you wouldn't have so many vote conscious politicians ready to vote for it - assuming Skelos will bring it to the floor.

Got to hand it to Andy and Shelly. The old bait and switch worked like a charm. Bringing something controversial like gay marrige to the forefront has taken everyones attention off the stuff that counts. And the State will continue to tax everything in existence and continue to spend money it doesn't have.

Sick of the brainwash by the gay agenda ! Civil Unions are the answer for this overly vocal minority. Most people are not in favor of the language in the bill --ADAPT and deal with the civil union aspect

Get over it !Get on with life ! We are TIRED of your noise

Mayor: You ducked the 'Gay Marriage' issue you old 'Progressive' because you're a local politico ... with nothing in the game. Suuuurrrreeee!!!!! Guys like you need to return to whatever, probably working for local media, which gladly let you get away with ducking the 'Gay Marriage' issue and where you stand, which you certainly haven't promoted as a move towards equality and justice. See why a ‘Progressive was needed in the race?

Why is anyone up in arms because two guys or two girls want to go to a church with the same piece of paper all other couples have and call it marriage? You can't use the old , "God didn't make Adam and Steve bull crap". If you believe God made all the animals on the planet...Well he didn't make them the way they are now. Most all of them have changed over the thousands of years they have lived on the planet...Including us. I know...evolution isn't real right? The planet isn't round. We are the center of the universe. We as a people are changing...For the better or for the worst. I make no judgement. But...times change.

Perhaps reference to the marriage ceremony might make things more clear. Excerpted from the Anglican (Episcopal) Book of Common Prayer:

DEARLY beloved, we are gathered together here in the sight of God, and in the face of this congregation, to join together this Man and this Woman in holy Matrimony; which is an honourable estate, instituted of God … to be honourable among all men: and therefore is not by any to be enterprised, nor taken in hand, unadvisedly, lightly, or wantonly, to satisfy men's carnal lusts and appetites, like brute beasts that have no understanding; but reverently, discreetly, advisedly, soberly, and in the fear of God; duly considering the causes for which Matrimony was ordained.

First, It was ordained for the procreation of children, to be brought up …

Secondly, It was ordained for a remedy against sin …

Thirdly, It was ordained for the mutual society, help, and comfort, that the one ought to have of the other, both in prosperity and adversity.

Into which holy estate these two persons present come now to be joined. Therefore if any man can show any just cause, why they may not lawfully be joined together, let him now speak, or else hereafter for ever hold his peace.

Marriage as an institution is over. That has been the goal all along. Fine. Enjoy. One more step in the progressive advancement of our society. What a circus. But that's the goal. Fun.

See....no change ever because a book said so. I see. Why allow change when the book is in hand? I get it. See that book is important...I get that. Just understand it was written a long time ago. Still if it keeps you safe at night...so be it.

The marriage is a institution is a laugh at best. If it's so important to so many people...Why do so many people break up and leave it? Why are there all these woman and men leaving each other? Diddn't they say till death do me part in church in front of God and all their friends...Plus family? Yes they did.
