WDT: The Oscar for Labor Rabble Rousing Goes to........

Labor chief Ron McDougall likes to go to "events"....Whether its a political dinner, a press conference or a 'workers of the world unite" style rally in Canton....Mr. McDougall is a longtme labor activist and husband of former Assemblywoman Diedre Scozzafava. Ron was the guy who got in the dust up with a reporter from the Weekly Standard that helped hurry the demise of his wife's Congressional campaign in 2009.
Ron is a political hobbyist and in Canton yesterday, the WDT reports he had his class warfare game face on as he and others said it is the bankers and corporations who are to blame for the perceived slights against workers. Ron and other speakers at the rally say teachers and unions are being unfairly blamed for economic woes.
I saw Ron on Thursday at the Aubertine presser at JCC. I see him at Democratic events and GOP events. He is a UAW poobah paid by GM even though a lot of years have passed since he fastened a fender to a car....Privately he talks differently than when the cameras are on. Publicly he plays a latter day Walter Reuther.
All of us are actors on the stage of life.....for his efforts Ron McDougall deserves an Academy Award.

It is pensions like GM's that are doing all the speculating in the markets.

It is TARP that Obama used to bail out GM and give the spoils to the unions.

I don't think we can afford much more of this union goodness.

Ron you're a breath of fress air:

Ronald P. McDougall, president of the Central Trades and Labor Council, said he often finds himself defending teachers from public criticism.

"We didn't get into this great recession because of teachers, we got into this because of rich bankers. We got into this because of Wall Street."

"Enough is enough," Mr. McDougall said.

I sometimes I say: "Where are the voices? Where is the outrage? And then I hear them. Read the whole article and hear what Teachers have to say about guys like Mayor Graham and his Cohorts who echo his every slander against Teachers.

How soon every one forgets the day when workers needed help making it.. Employers paid little or nothing in wages, twenty hour days seven days a week, dont call in sick or we will replace you. They never put anything into worker safety just let them go if they got hurt. No insurance, no pension just work work work. Yes those were the good ole days. Once you had been there for some time and as age has it you slowed down you were replaced by a younger stronger person.. Yes those were the good ole day. This is how the major part of the republican party got their fortunes.. This is why AMericans formed the Democratic party to oppose those rich gluttons. This is what unions did for us...Its not the unions that have brought America to its knees, it greedy rich corporations, run by greedy wealthy people and the bankers who help sponsor them...

A simple question all anti-Unionists fail to ever answer with a straight face:

"Where would our great country be today without the effort and progress made by Unions on behalf of all American workers?"

Simple questions union suckups fail to answer today. Why is their membership at such a low level and why is their strength only among government employees. Dannie has never been anything but one and Mikey wants nothing else but to become one. Hmmmm. Wonder why? Could it be FreeStuff paid for by others?

Unions are what made NYS the wasteland it is today. That, and corrupt government.

Unions will be the death of this state and country.

As for Ronnie....you're irrelevant. Please go away.

This individual like most political hacks and hangers -on is yet another example of why unions are in huge trouble .

Too busy talking politics and other garbage and not busy enough DOING anything productive or working AT A REAL JOB .

All Heat and damn little Light comes from them.

ANON 4:29

You never say anything worthwhile, just attack other people on the Blog to divert attention or confuse the reader. What worker rights have you ever fought for and do you think anyone is worth more than minimum wages? I doubt if you do.

I agree with what some of you say Anon 2:24 a real small portion of what you say.You fail to mention the fact that those Union bosses soon became entangled in the greed & corruption.Realy they are the ones who failed the worker at the middle level or should we say lower level. They have not fought until just recently we have herd nothing,Unions are a thing of the past just as far as I'm concernd people should stop paying dues.Democrats are the ones collecting the money from those big fat t-bone eating basterds if you look at the last presidential election look at how much money the Dems collected from the big lazy union bosses. Now the walls are doing exactly what I said in 2008 crumbling down around them so please they are coming for your piggy banks & they won't stop there.Like I said I agree it's greed. The people will either rise up or take it in the ...

Unions had and have a purpose. When Unions cared about the workers, those currently with a job and those that would get a job tomorrow or the next week or the next year. However, the main purpose now is to line their individual wallets and not their fellow workers.

That is why they are opposed to givebacks. They don't care about the workers they care about themselves.

429.. Your answer is simple enough. The Republican party sponsored an agreement years ago that let our major employers move South of the Border and pay cheaper wages. People like Matt Doheny can put a lot of effort into reviving companies with the sweat and labor of their workers. Get itup and running again then let them go so he can have his bonus money.. Where would our country be without greed and capitalism? The only thing worse than being exploited by capitalism is not being exploited by capitalism.

But when capitalism gets too big and powerful we have the sense to break up the trusts and make collusion illegal. But democrats do not have the sense to apply the same concept to labor.

Do we have to quote the great FDR about public unions again? If FDR were alive today he would be a teaparty member.

Speaking of a straight face...how can anyone talk about the old abuses of workers in the same context as we are talking about teachers...with a straight face?

"We didnt get into this recession because of teachers, it was Wall St" Good point considering his wife and her brother scammed many folks in the north country.
