Funny how last night everyone was reporting a deal on a tax cap, but the Buffalo News reports no such deal...Instead this report on the same set of events indicates Senate Republicans say there is a long way to go in working out the details....So, pick your version of reality. I suspect the pressure to pass something will result in a bill, although the loopholes in the Assembly version do not provide as much motivation to address other issues like mandate relief and pension reform.

Good news that it is still not agreed upon.
Frankly, I cannot believe that you are in favor of it.
I heard the propaganda commercial from the teachers on 1240 yesterday. They got one thing right...when they called the tax cap a "gimmick".
A tax cap is basically another unfunded mandate. But if we are going to have a stupid tax cap lets make it real. Lets cap it at a dollar amount instead of at a percentage. That way Carthage and Watertown would have the same cap. And Clayton, Alex Bay, Dexter and the rest would have miles to go before they reach the outrageous rates of the two largest county cities.
This is really just another assault on small municipalities...the ones that run efficiently and don't forget to bill the baseball team (and a not notice.)
But you can count on Patty plate voting for a cap because she is a St.Lawrence county RINO that likes control in Albany instead of our home towns and if we have any say over our own taxes then we have to get millions extorted from our fund balance to aid private housing developers.
Hey Patty, instead of voting for a mandate gimmick tax cap, how about repealing an existing mandate...then we won't need a tax cap?
