WDT: Owens on the Bubble on Debt Expansion
Rep. Bill Owens says he may support an increase in the nation's debt load, even though he opposed such a measure in the past....Mr. Owens tells the WDT he thinks the recently agreed to series of spending cuts may provide the rationale for allowing debt to rise. In fact, if Congress does not allow debt to rise above the current $14.3 trillion current spending could not continue. That's the dichotomy Mr. Owens and others find themselves in as the practicle and political realities are there will be more debt. Only if there are sufficient other votes on a debt deal, will Mr. Owens or others be in a position to vote no. Deficits will be the issue du jour in 2012 as fiscal hawk Matt Doheny likely challenges Mr. Owens who is in his first full term in Congress since being elected in a special election in 2009. Watertown Daily Times Owens sticks to intent to limit spending

Owens does not care about spending. That is why he voted for Nancycare.
Doheny couldn't beat Owens even after the nancycare vote...even riding the wave of the shellackings.
I don't know if I should give credit to Doheny for not being a quitter or condemn him for not facing reality.
I sincerely hope the Tea Party reps put a stop to this "compromise" on the budget, and recall Boehner.
To call spending 3.5 trillion dollars a "compromise" would be funny if it were not so sad. I bet that extreme right wing dumb Hoffman guy would not vote/rubberstamp this reckless unpatriotic, suicidal spending bill.
9:44 is exactly right. If it get down to it, he will do exactly what he did on Nancycare, lie about it. When he reported he was getting input from constituents that went half and half on the health bill, he revealed himself as a liar and as a man fully owned by Nancy. The budget will be no different, despite claims otherwise by the whipped and dishonest Congressperson. This debt deal will keep going until in bankrupts the county. That's what we want.
I like the Times's headline. Owens sticks to intent to limit spending. Total crock. Typical Watertown Times spin. There is no intent to limit spending, Mr Johnson. Once in a while you have to print the truth.
"Deficits will be the issue du jour in 2012 as fiscal hawk Matt Doheny likely challenges Mr. Owens who is in his first full term in Congress since being elected in a special election in 2009."
Mayor you sound like a guy with a tingle going up his leg about Matt Doheny. How Hawkish is these guy when it comes to ending speculation on the spot market, which is jacking up the price of Oil and other commodities. Matt will just hat to regulate those people won't he?
Middle-Class Mike
Yea Mikey,..like Owens is reigning in speculators? Not! He is out there trying to get his buds to overturn the cap put on debit card fees. It is not just Nancy that owns Owens, it is the banks too.
Mikes right about the mayors excitment when he mentions Doheny. Ive written about ten comments in the last month about Doheny and Jim Regan and all have been squashed by the mayor.. Truth hurts dosnt it.
If America doesn't raise the debt ceiling we will follow the same path that finished off another superpower, Russia. Don't believe it read up on the 1998 Ruble Crisis, which caused the complete economic collapse of Russia money. If that happen here, 100 dollar bills will become 1 dollar bills over night. Keep it up Tea Baggers, Keep it up.
Moby, I've never had a posting fail to be printed. Methinks you're not being honest about this. I like the name, Moby Dick.
If America does raise the debt ceiling we will follow the same path that finished off another superpower, Russia. Fixed that for ya...
Don't vote to raise the national debt limit and see what follows?
It's not the debt per se - it's the deficit spending... stay within the budget and limit and stop spending $10 for every $5 taken in - that's the real problem.
As long as anyone, including Fed government pays their bills, fine.. that shows we can live within our means - but those means mean not going over budget.
2 unfunded wars
2 huge unfunded tax cuts (2001 and 2003)
Unfunded Seniors Rx program
The culprits...
Um...3 unfunded wars. (two for our nations security and one for a Nobel)
One trillion dollar porkulous package to rescue our 11 trillion dollar economy that was number one in the world and get it back up to 12 trillion dollars. (AKA a ridiculous definition of a recession.)
800 billion in TARP of which only 200 billion was needed and Obama spent the rest for shits and giggles.
I like that new logo, Dannie.
Your ideas are wrong but your logo is neat.
Your party will never even begin to break away from deficit spending. Most of your core voters don't even know what it is, or care. It will end the country. You and I should be ok. It will last long enough for us to get our FreeStuff. Who cares?
