And where would the good Mr Williams go to make the same money, the same benefits, the same retirement? And also work under the same lack of performance standards, the same job security. As supers do here in the north, he can ruin his district, produce low educational and graduation standards, then have his name put up in lights in front of the campus. Then he can go to work for the architects who screw the school district at ever turn during construction projects. He might even be able to get in line for some kick backs for steering contracts.

His district has a budget of almost one billion dollars a year. How many CEOs of billion dollar businesses make $225k or less?

Have you ever seen the Buffalo Public Schools' operating losses-- or deficits, as public agencies like to call them? They're enormous.

Unlike a government agency, a private company runs out of money eventually. A government agency, such as a school, can keep running to the coffers. The fiscal restraint is negligible at all levels. If this were a private agency, I assure you Buffalo schools would not have a billion-dollar budget.

If he retires, he will no doubt go with a golden parachute that rivals any in the private sector. I didn't realize these education folks went in it to get rich.
