When Lady Gaga Knows Your Name - NYTimes.com

Don't get on the bad side of Lady Gaga !
During a concert last Friday in Buffalo, the pop diva told fans to email Senator Mark Grisanti on the issue of same sex marriage...Guess he has been deluged....
Wonder if she wants to weigh in on the noise ordinance ?

Try not to get too wild for 'Lady Gaga' Mayor, there's a Crazy Lawyer on your Blog who'll call you a Tranny, Cokehead lover, who shouldn't be Mayor of Watertown! And Smilin will just love the comment! :)

An entire menu of topics are now available for discussion. We have Brittnney's assets, Gaga, flowers, IHC females, pirates, and the daily hoot and teacher union apology rag. But Jeff, don'tcha think we should have a chance to compliment the Great and Annointed One on how he has stood by for 20 days and watched Gadoofi murder thousands of people? Kinda neat the way Oblooma has handled this. Every night he calls it unacceptable, and every night he does nothing. Grand pronouncements, no action. The man has no credibility anywhere in the world. Thanks for the opportunity Jeff. Now we can go back to Lady Caca.

It is funny you talk aout Scott after the newspaper articals to the people. I think there is more to come about Scott and his behind the door deals, and it's going to show the County and Scott's wrong doing's.

Here's the deal with rock stars who go political. I do not know what the current generation of youngsters think about this issue. God knows it is the exact opposite of how my/our generation thinks. But here goes: As soon as a rock star goes political, I am not just completely turned off, I am TOTALY turned off. Musicians have historically prepared for any reporter that asks, "What does that [famous] song mean?" Why? Because they know that that proverbial famous song means something unique to every single individual. Mystery solved. When rock stars go political, they totally ruin it for fans. Let me give you three examples: 1) When Melissa Etheridge went political, every song she released about one person communicating to another was assumed she was singing to her female lover. Boom. She just lost 50% (or more) of her purchasing fan base for creating a picture in her fans' minds of who she was singing to. Yes, time allows that picture to morph again into the listener's own world again, but still. 2) When Bruce Springsteen went political, he lost 50% of his fan base who didn't necessarily leave him, but definitely paused when thinking he was their all American boy with the blue jeans and the American flag. Something, something almost imperceptible changed about Bruce, no matter how much you liked him, when he went political on us in his concerts. The song No Surrender had such a special meaning until Bruce...welll....never mind....the people who get me will get IT, and the people who don't, WON'T. 3) When U2 went political, all fans could think about was the association between buying their music and supporting their causes. While there is NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT, it begs the question, why do you listen to music. If it is for escape, then the politico's become really unpopular really fast. So, Lady GAGA, you will get what you want, I think, in this case, because you have come along at a time when the country is ready. However, I strongly believe that you will be faced with one of the first major obstacles in your life, and please do not get me wrong here. This is not about supporting a paradigm shift and being in the right place at the right time for an entire country. This is about being an artist for music and dancing and costume sake, vs. becoming political and being totally associated with a cause. There is a part of every adult who needs live music such as a Springsteen concert for nothing at all but escape, for nothing at all but that sense of soul freedom that comes from standing at the edge of an ocean watching the powerful waves crash on the shore time and time and time again. When a rock star becomes political, that soul re-charger, that escape goes away. So, Lady Gaga, it's not that you are doing anything wrong, it's that the audience is part of the artform, the audience has a role to play in this thing called performance. What role do you want to play? Ultimately, when one goes political, one has a choice. And that choice may alter the artist/aucience realtionship. Again, this is not an indictment of Lady Gaga, it is merely an older person's insight into why one goes to concerts and what one wants out of going. Interesting questions come from all of this, to be sure.

And I thought I would never agree with anything that MCM says...no offense. You are right Mikey; I do enjoy the lawyer's comments, as dry humor laced with wit & wisdom makes me laugh out loud.

Smiling, just to speak a little truth in the mix about Rock Stars like Bono and U-2, from his Bio Page, under LIFE, "As the lead singer of U2, one of the most popular and influential rock bands of the last 30 years, Bono is a figure adored and admired both within and outside of the music industry. As a rock star, his music with U2 has earned him legions of devoted fans across the world, whilst as a humanitarian and crusader for the world's poor, co-founder of organizations such as DATA and the ONE Campaign, he has gained deep respect from politicians and global statesmen as well as music fans." Try to be accurate if you want to be taken seriously Smilin, otherwise you leave people like me laughing at (Guess Who)?

Smiling, well done. You left out the boomcrash saga of the Dixie Chicks. Betcha Mikey has a big collection of them at the house. I know somebody does.

Advice, mr Mike, don't pick on Smiling. She's also a lot smarter than you.

I understand that, Mikey. The question is what does Smiling think of YOU.

I thought Bono was the guy who sang with Cher. I didn't realize he was a world bleeder and feeler. The only thing about him I didn't like was that beatle haircut. I had no idea they had statues of him all over the civilized world. I'm so ashamed I didn't realize how great and inspirational the man truly is. Thanks Mikey for filling me in. I could have gotten all the way through this life and missed it.

Lawyers are smart. UH OH Anon 11:25. So, at a live show (in which I paid a healthy sum for a ticket), when said rock star starts pontificating, I remain silent but am thinking this: "SHUT UP AND SING!" If I had to concede on this issue, I would definitely take back much of what I wrote IF the context were inside of the tumultuous & trauma-informed 1960's. Dylan, Simon& Garfunkle, Joanie Mitchell, Peter Paul & Mary, etc., etc., etc., I'll say Dylan again.

What you don't understand is her whole show is in support of the gay person's rights in the good old USA. Her songs are the same. I love her music. The message...well it's what it is. Poker Face....love the song...But it's about her having sex with her boyfriend and thinking about her girlfriend. Most people don't know that's the message...they just like to sing the song.

CR, Mikey needs an ally. Are you up to the job? Following his thought process would involve some serious drinking. With summer coming its not a good time to gain weight. And Mikey, its "you da man". Take a chance. Go for it. Don't be so uptight.
