It used to be NNY lawmakers had a cozy relationship with Big Labor, frequently getting the hugs from the Ron McDougalls and Ernie LaBaffs of the world.....
No more....here's the Communication Workers of America launching a radio ad ripping Sen. Patty Ritchie for allegedly wanting to cut taxes on millionaires and not wanting to make downstaters pay their share.
Sometimes you judge a person by their foes and not their friends. The tenor of these increasingly frantic ads paid for by those with more money than you and I just makes me want to shout 'you go girl' when I see the Senator...Of course I wouldn't say that, as it isn't very respectful...But I would think it.
Watertown Daily Times CWA to Patty Ritchie: "You gotta be kidding me!"

Go ahead. Make our day. Let labor unions preach to regular working people about who is looking out for regular folks when then advocate more spending by this foolish state. How many people, with any kind of brain at all, think more taxing and spending is the way to get out of this? The CWA, another to add to the list of morons.
It is money wasted because voters do not remember past a 4 month time period. Look at how Obama poll numbers fluctuate for instance.
Why do the CWOA need government cheese money? Do they work for NPR? Or are they putting in government phone systems?
Still waiting for Pat Ritchie to forfill her promises to her constituants.. Still see no change in sight... Voting straigt Skelos so far.. Voting for the Rich Republicans and laying the balancing of the budget on the working man..
Start counting Pat your term is going to end soon if you dont start doing something.
is that an anonymous article?
who wrote it?
was a CWA rep interviewed for it?
is the WDT writer sure that funding will be restored in 2012?
has Ritchie really said she won't close prisons?
You changed the margins on the blog and part of the text is being cut off on the right side.
10:09, not smart. You've been saying the same thing since before she was even elected. What does that make you. A simple partisan fool.
Now she wants the People of Ogdensburg to give her a 210 month office at taxpayers expense.. Nelson and Powers lead the charge. They cut everyting but the managers salary now they want to take thirty five thousand to renovate her office for her..
Jim regan made the presentation. Powers feels proud and honored she chose Ogdensburg. It is especially gradifying that she chose us and we should pay for the renovations and even possibly give her free rent. Last month he said hats off to the police force.. Great job to the front lines... The same force that hasnt had a conviction in the last five murders and now another mysterious death of a young man.. Possibly I grew up wrong and my prioritites are confused...
Funny thing is the CWA could be right on some of their issues, they quizzed Senator Wright for cuts at ATT, and various customer service complaints.
The article in the WDT actually clarifies much of the stupidest claimed by the CWA. This was a shot from a labor group that is not getting a state contract or is subsidized by the government. If not why would they care. Currently both major unions (PEF & CSEA) have pressured Governor Cuomo to look into cost savings with expensive consultants. He has stated that "cost analysis" would be done on all contracts to outside consultants.
Every Republican Senator has run their election on no new taxes after the last two years of excessive spending. The people spoke in the 48th district when Senator Ritchie ousted now Commissioner Aubertine for his pork barrel spending habits. This is an attack on a freshman Senator that has stood by her word "not to increase taxes". This tax is not supported by Governor Cuomo, therefore it has little chance of passing and the Democrats can banter all they want. The bantering does bring good press, but they know their Democratic Governor does not support it

Patti has not made one decision on her own.She is controled by Skelos it must make her feel like a real down stater.Adleast Mr.Aubertine put himself out there & made some choices for us not worried about what his buddies thought. She claims that if the Millionairs tax is extended that people who do buisness in her area will leave, (bogus) most millionairs live down state. This will only effect a small number of people in this area believe me they can afford it.This is one issue she should have broke away from the Albany crew on this will not be forgotten come next election.Teachers vote, alot of them, along with Suny school students, bus drivers, the numbers are stagering etc.she chose her downstate millionairs over her upstate school children this will not go unnoticed. She was afraid this might have hurt feelings, well she has hurt alot more than that.Wall street is what caused this mess people with alot of influence & money New York City & Albany are the blame for our budget problems & along with Patti,Andy is making our schools pay the price, nothing has changed in Albany innocent people are still getting the shaft.
You allot a lot of "alot"s in your rhetoric.
10:18 Nothing but the party line. Same old same old. Trouble is, your type is what got us to where we are. You have no credibility in anything you say.
Soak the Rich and Spread It out Thin; Rich people have failed to respond to our countries needs on either the “Bush Tax Cuts” a two percent give back, or now the Millionaires Tax, which is really a down-state tax to save Jobs. This while food pantry’s run out of food nationwide!

LEAVE PATTY ALONE! How can big labor come after Patty now when they did not support her in the general election? Labor, at least locally, was all in for Aubertine. Patty was never the labor candidate, big Labor did little to put her in office, and therefore she is not beholden to Labor. She was swept in on a wave of Tea Party, anti-government, anti-union, conservative fervor and therefore does not owe labor as much as a phone call.
Patty is a Republican - and she was elected on a platform of major spending reductions (to schools, Medicaid, and all the rest). She never made a secret about that. Labor may hem and haw about it, but the voters in the North Country wanted that kind of change. If they didn't, they would have voted for Aubertine. If she back peddles on those promises, thats a different conversation she needs to have with her constituents.
Labor: Patty doesn't have to be your friend. She doesn't need you. And she doesn't owe you anything.
Now Addie... have at her.
Patti is now far enough in she should start making choices for us not Skelatore.....
MCM there will always be those looking for a handout. We get anymore liberal in NYS, welfare will be an occupation. Senator Ritchie's platform has been no new taxes, the senate has restored money to education. She was not endorsed by labor, but she fights for every job in her district. End of Story.
Hey MMM Ask AJR or Ted about filling the local food pantries up, Ted got his, no one else did.
We are help the poor in many ways in NNY. You people give yourself a lot of credit for food pantry work, which everyone I know does on some level. Food Pantries are running out of food all over America, as reported on all the major networks. Hunger is becoming a huge problem even among Middle-Class Families. Stop being so out of touch with the needs of Middle and Working Class people and their need for more disposable income or you’re going to be losing a lot of elections. And quit trying to break Unions, because you know the support the Democratic Party's efforts to maintain 'Collective Bargaining' and Teacher salaries.

Yes Mikey. Food prices have risen more in the last month than at any time during the last 36 years. And you're right, its the teachers who are having the hardest time buying food. Have you tried loading steaks into a Volvo lately? Now if I were you. I'd start jumping up and down and quickly blame George Bush. You certainly wouldn't want anyone looking at the current goon on the White House. Please do hang on to your hat while jumping up and down.
