Silver’s Warning
Speaker Sheldon Silver is getting tired of op/ed writers saying he got rolled by the new muscular and energetic Governor. Last night I watched the Speaker's interview on CapTon and in his low key style suggested that the seizing of the budget process by the Governor may see court challenges in the future...Not necessarily by Mr. Silver but by a child suffering under the new spending plan...That means somebody's kid has to be the straw man plaintiff for such a suit. Nobody likes to be told publicly they have Low T, and the Speaker is used to having his way...He did on much of this budget get his way like on mal practice limits...But the conventional wisdom is the Speaker was emasculated by Mr. Cuomo... As a permanent member of the gang of three, Mr. Silver will plot his next moves carefully. Silver’s Warning

Let me say I don't like Silver or anything he stands for. But this MSM tingle up the leg over Cuomo is dumbfounding. It could be argued that Silver is the one that controlled this thing. Basically in a bankrupt state he still got 98% of what he wanted which is to tax and spend billions of dollars from our residents and what's left of its businesses.
Why does the MSM love Cuomo and pretend he is good for anything? Iaccoca cut 10% not 2% and that is what we needed. I guess they want to paint this guy as useful so he can pass gay marriage and a bunch of stupid laws for our schools and businesses to follow. And some building codes too.And lets not forget the DEC...we need us some more DEC laws. Maybe a deposit on CFL bulbs and batteries and cans of paint? Think of the Polar bears!
I'm with 2:36. Thug Sheldon is still the criminal in charge. 2%. That's what we cut. With all the crying and lying, we ended up with a 2% cut in spending. Sleazy Shelly has nothing to be ashamed of. He raised spending 17% in the last two years and cut it 2% this year. And people are saying Thug Sheldon lost power? Nah, it was another nail in your child's ass. Sheldon is proud.
Clipped, that is what happened to Silver, Cuomo clipped his wings. Silver who would of still wanted to give education that guaranteed 3% raise, despite the budget. That way the teachers can get their guaranteed raises, and Silver continues to get money and support from the teacher's union, it NOT really about the kids.
Ummm...they are still getting the raises the 2% comes form cutting a few jobs and sports and whatever else hurts the most in the local parents eyes.
There have been no significant cuts to anything. From the sound of the tears in education circles everywhere, they will never be the same. Just remember, state budget. cut 2%. They lie. They cry.
Yes. I would like to see a lawsuit filed by some suffering little child who is going to be harmed by this terrrribull budget. I would rather watch that than Jersey Shore. Much cooler and funner.
Andy makes a few noises, cuts a buck or two here and there. Voters oooh and ahhh about how Andy is going to save the State from Mr. Silverslime. After the cameras are off Andy and Shelly shake hands and slap each others back and congratulate themsevles on how quickly they got the voters calmed and back in their cages.
Whether they are conspiring or not, 10:51 is probably right. A 2% cut the first year, the new Gov's most powerful year, will do us little good. All we did was slow down the trainwreck. At 2% we will have to do this for 15 years to provide any future for the kids. Now the teachers. They will be just fine. Me, I'm set.
