WDT: Big County Promotes I-98

One Medicaid claim can easily eclipse this $20,000 St. Lawrence County is spending on promoting the long talked about, but never to be built Interstate 98 from Watertown to Plattsburgh. So we know its not a huge amount of cash.
The County Legislature voted to spend the money on printing brochures and the like for I-98....It was a controversial move, and frankly the printing could have come out an existing County line item and no one would no the difference...
It is a small amount, but I agree we don't need and cannon afford the road....Ernie LaBaff says I-98 will transform the county from Appalachia to prosperity.
This road only makes sense when using the argument, "if they don't spend the money here, it will go somewhere else."

I am not a smart guy, but we cannot pay for what we have crumbling now, why would anyone want to build yet another superhighway to take care. And do we really want to ruin all of rural NY with super this and that, and rapid fire superstore buildings? that would cook the golden egg that many people come to upstate NY for. they can stay home if they want congestion, and all of the urban blight they sought to leave.

who wants this plan? Engineers who would make the money? Etc ?

There is money to be made whether it gets built or not.

It is funny that the towns and villages that will be bypassed are actually paying money to the music-man to promote this too.

Jason Clark and his misfits are running around seeking money from all over St. Lawrence county for a marketing campaign for this highway that will never see the light of day!!!

Honestly with the deficits in todays local, state and federal governments is this a viable concept? Rollimg into municipalities asking for dollars for envelopes, balloons and the like to lawmakers that have no choice but to adhere to the demands of these clowns for the fear of addressing to their constituents the appearance of non-support. A classic display of Democratic spending!!

There are five counties that would benefit from this highway and they are pushing in the big county only. Has anyone noticed that the BDC in Massena that is overseen by Jason CLark has a 16,000 shortfall!? Who is overseeing this and accounting for the monies coming in and going out. Do they have any By-Laws, who is their voting body, are the other counties involved in the decision making or even know about this group.

I heard that they have run into resistance fromsome towns about the way they are going about this.
Is it just me, I haven't seen their meetings being advertised to the public in any local papers or media outlets. Where do they meet? How often? Are there members from Lewis, Essex, Clinton, Jefferson counties represented?

I could be mistaken but you dont get alot of information regarding their operations.

Who Benefits?

Whenever tax dollars are involved -

I want to know who owns the land that will be purchased and the construction companies that will do the building and what are the connections between these and politicians.
