Volt Owners Get a Jolt for Evading Gas Taxes

Nothing annoys the system more than someone getting away without paying those niche taxes hidden in the cost of everyday products....It galls NYS that consumers get around the cigarette tax and with electric cars hitting the roads, Washington State lawmakers suddenly discovered owners of cars that hum are not paying all those road taxes hidden in the price of gasoline.
The answer..a new tax on "green" vehicles.

Nobody really expects that the feds and the states aren't going to figure out a way to tax electric vehicles, or any other of the greenie-weenie boondoggles do they?

Its only right that they pay their fair share.

Nice Iver Johnson ad, Jeff. There's a lot of that old stuff that's interesting. And consider, that was a MA company. Those people must have moved.

It's Evul! Where you been? Ah, you'll never pay the taxes. You're too smart to buy a car like that anyway. And your wallet is already cold and dead.

What a really stupid idea. Big oil must of squeezed their elected puppets on this dumb idea. The smart move would have been to raise the tax on gasoline to cover the difference and let people make the choice that driving green will save them money in the short term. Big International Electric Companies like National Grid will slam the door on drivers as soon as there is enough electric vehicles on the road. Then our elected officials will pretend they didn't see this coming.
