No Facebook Revolution here with a sympathetic military looking to easy the despot from power....This is hardball as Libyan strongman Muammar el-Qaddafi is hunting down foes and killing them...leaving the populace frightened and likely less willing to join a rebel surge that has left many Libyan cities and towns outside Tripoli's grip.
Qaddafi says he will fight to the last drop of blood and went on TV Tuesday to whip up the faithful...They responded with fervor...Meanwhile foreigners are fleeing and oil production has slowed.
If only Katie Couric would visit Tripoli to fill us in.

He's on the way our and its clear the people have had enough of him and the evil he commits. I hope he's shot by his own people soon.
And not a single word from the Great One? Why isn't he giving a sermon about why this guy has to go? That's right, he only preaches when its someone alligned with the west. When Cuaddafi (or however you spell it) or the Iranians kill their people he stays silent.
I have a hunch that we'll be talking alot about energy in the coming months so I thought you might get a kick out of this one Mayor. American Solutions: "At CPAC last week, Speaker Gingrich called for an all-American energy plan and a new Environmental Solutions Agency to replace the Obama administration's war on American energy." My take on this is creating new Federal agency isn't necessarrily bad as long as you can stack it with your guys, while you cut an existing one with Pres. Obama's guys.
DEAD MAN WALKING: ‘Col. Muammar el –Qaddafi’
The New York Times has run an article that utilizes language from WikiLeaks Cables that offers insight into Col. Muammar el -Qaddafi’s rather disgruntled family life where sons like Seif al-Islam el Qaddafi who throws parties where Mariah Carey sings four songs for a Million dollars and his brother Mautassim, Libya’s National Security Advisor.
Mautassim tried to shake down the Libya’s National Oil Company, in 2008 to establish his own Militia. This to keep up with yet another brother Khamis, Commander of a special ops group, ‘who is responsible for acting as a regime protection unit.’
Seif al-Islam el Qaddafi has bartered away the support that people in their 20’s gave him, when in his speech a few days ago he spoke of the streets running in blood. At that moment the young turned away and stopped counting on him to act civilized.
The Libyan Military has not acted in a coordinated fashion to stop the rebellion in the street and many desertions have been reported and the army outside of Tripoli is siding with the protestors to a large degree. There will likely be a pause in the violence in the country sides while both sides attempt to gather their forces for a final showdown.
Col. Qadaffi’s position will grow weaker by the day as he tries to solidify his hold on Tripoli, by conducting loyalty checks on a house to house basis, killing many who are suspect for whatever insane reasons. His ability to operate outside the City will grow more and more problematic, to the point where he has little to no influence outside of Tripoli.
The Military will see this erosion of support and melt away from the demented leader even further, while his own son, Khamis will likely act as the broker of a deal to save the family as a whole; with a possible alliance with his brother Seif al-Islam although I suspect these two will act a cross purposes until the end. It’s possible that Khamis has already convinced Col. Muammar el Qadaffi that fleeing to another Country is not a plausible end game strategy and that the world will try him as a war criminal.
Given the years of mental disturbance and phobias displayed by the Libyan leader, I believe he’ll commit suicide and in fact keep his promise to kill himself for the Libyan people who hate him with a vengeance at this point. One would assume that suicide becomes a very attractive option as opposed to facing a ‘War Crimes’ trail. In my opinion Muammar el Qadaffi will commit suicide within two weeks time, sharing a similar fate with Adolf Hitler who lacked the courage to answer for his crimes.
Mikey, I don't know what point your 8:57 post is aiming at. I just wish we would concentrate on producing energy here in the US. We don't seem to be too concerned about it. No more leases in the Gulf, no drilling up north, no spinners near Wiley, no nukes policy seems to be continuing. I guess we're looking at big gasoline numbers for the summer with all the unrest. We don't seem to be moving in any direction in particular. Obama's program, if that's what it is, hasn't accomplished much. Trouble is ahead. Again. Still.
'All American Energy Plan,' sounds good, I'm joking about just what is it we supposedly have now?' Is it the 'Environmental Solutions
Agency,' in the eyes of Newt is acting un-American? The power of words is enhanced somewhat when a guy like Newt just says what's bugging him about current policies.

Well, we heard, during the last campaign, about all sorts of neeet stuff coming our way if we just invested. Good heavens did we invest. We gots alternative green renewable cool sustainable nothing. We've wiped out our own coal industry, bagged wind unless its somehwere else, continued to play hide and seek with nukes, no drill anywhere. We do have AA powered cars build by Government Motors, financed by donations from the taxpayer to the UAW. The ultimate in collective bargaining. Whatever Newt is suggesting can't be more worthless than the program we've had the last couple years.

Last updated at 11:17 PM on 24th February 2011"
A rumour circulated according to this article that Qaudaffi had shot himself andit drove down Oil prices for a few hours.
The end of the article reported the following:
Gaddafi’s former long-time ally and justice minister Mustapha Abdeljalil predicted yesterday that the Libyan leader would follow in Adolf Hitler’s footsteps by killing himself rather than give up power.
