The rift in the sleepy riverside Village of Alexandria Bay grows as the premier Bay website, ABay.com, came out today and ripped Mayor Terry Robb for his remarks about an upcoming motorcycle rally in June.
The editorial comes down hard on Mayor Robb, and since I don't know him, I have no opinion of him, other than to say its important always to respect the duly elected representitive of the people. There's always another election if the rift cannot be healed.
The Mayor's opposition to the bike event has gone viral and brought attention of all kinds to the Bay. The event will be held as the Village Board OK'd the logistics of the June event.
Mayor Robb expressed concern over "Bad Bikers" in a recent board meeting. Because of the Internet and bloggers the remarks became known and the fur has been flying.
Since the event is going on, I would urge opponents of the Mayor to keep it civil and deal with their concerns through the electoral process. Some of the comments have been intense.

Did you read the piece this is linked to?
There are a few contradictions in the piece including the most egregious where he talks about "Johnny doesn't sugarcoat things.. Johnny tells it like it is.. news is news.. negative or not."
Johnny ought to understand the difference between presenting news and opining about how he dislikes someone.
Do not mistake me I do not have a dog in this fight and could care less on this matter, but his rant is anything but news.
Also, I will opine a bit. Alex Bay from what I hear generally has a reputation for being past its day and kind of substandard and open containers will not advance its image.
If Johnny, Jim or whomever is worried about declining tourism I would suggest they see what is working elsewhere before jumping to the conclusion that an open beer will attract people.
6:12pm: Nothing wrong with keeping your "dog" out of this "fight". Over 4000 people have visited my site regarding this topic, but only 1000 have played the audio. I am guessing you are one of the ones that did NOT listen to the audio. Had you listened you would have known that the open container law has been overlooked for years. Our Chief of Police made that statement in the audio. NEWS as we knew it is dying just as you say the Bay is dying. My idea of news differs from what you think is news or Johnny, or JG, or NJ. I guess you have to be open minded when your reading "news on the net"
It is far more important to respect the wishes of the people than their duly elected representative.

bring on the chopper babes ! yee ha!
Simple, just dont go to the bay.. Drive the 30 some miles to Ogdensburg and have the biker event at the greenbelt in Ogdensburg.. Of course remember when you go to Ogdensburg we have a cou0le of bad a-- gangs here to.. Bikers come at your own risk.
AT LEAST YOU WILL BE WELCOME
I,m going to call Nick Vaugh and Mayor Nelson about having another event in Ogdensburg. Bikers in the Greenbelt. Oh I forgot the mayor dont want smokers in the Greenbelt. Oh well I guess all those bikes would hide the offensive odor of ciggerette smoke as does the amusement rides during their big weekend. It might spruce up Ogdensburg if the Bikers all come in suits and ties such as the three Amigos on the council wants. Oh I forgot no restraunts around the Greenbelt to accomodate them. The planner run them out of town and cant get anyone to take their place.. Oh well ABay.. Keep the Bikers.. Our local drug dealers run this town anyway
I went years ago to a bike event in Sandy Creek. Two dudes with the Hell's Angles coats came riding in. They were very nice guys. Never had a problem all day with them....They seemed more then cool with us. They may not have been really with the club...Have to say they were....Takes alot of balls to were that club's colors and not be with them. So what's the real problem?
It's not the H/A you have to worry about, it's the drunks out there with their beer muscles on. Them and the Mongols.
Most events I've been to have a strictly enforced open container law.
