State Senator Patricia Ritchie took her oath of office in what appears to be her living room (I've never been there). Senator Ritchie now represents Oswego, Jefferson and western St. Lawrence County and she succeeds Democrat Darrel Aubertine.
Senator Ritchie's win gave the GOP control of the Senate by a bare 32-30 majority, but her win will have implications on issues like redistricting which would have been a bloodbath if Dems had controlled both houses.
There is also the theory that Governor Andrew Cuomo secretly wants a GOP Senate to act as a foil to his efforts to change Albany.
We assume freshman Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush got sworn in, but since he doesn't have a media Svengali like Jim Reagen, I didn't get a photo.

Darrell is in ka-hoots with big wind and he lied, covered up and lied more about it.
He's TOASTED in politics.

She NOW has to quit hiding and Start PRODUCING RESULTS ! We still at this date have zero clue as to what specifically she is all about. She can NO LONGER HIDE in the weeds
Is she an INDEPENDENT thinking courageous doer or just another party hack to be controlled by the outside investors in her campaign? Can /Will she stand up to Skelos and HIS downstate posse?
Will we get tax relief ? Will we get Property tax caps and rebates ? Will we see growth of the private sector? How will this be accomplished ? When ? and By Whom ? What Trade- offs has she / will she make ?
IT REMAINS TO BE SEEN .
Ms Ritchie never uttered a word on strategic planning on HOW she would specifically CHANGE things during the campaign.
The cult of personality( campaign) is now over -- but the expectations for REAL change are high and the penalty for failure will be great .
The day of recognition has come, from this day forward every move she makes will be a media blitz creed. Her action will be her message to the voters not the rhetoric that Darrel spewed during the election.
She has a tough job, left with an unbalanced budget, a 10 billion dollar deficit, and a legislature embroiled in turmoil...the future would look dim to seasoned politicians.

Yeah and we have a rookie with zero legislative experience who failed to identify any strategy at all and avoided serious inquiry during the campaign ------ not exactly re-assuring that anything will change EXCEPT the players.
Things must change soon .
I can't wait to see HOW they will satisfy the SPECIAL interests that financed many of the campaigns while somehow managing to balance the expenditure and revenue sides of the budge at the same time . My expectations are low that any substantive change will occur and if it doesn't then the price will be high
