What the Governor will say today in Watertown was foreshadowed yesterday in Jamestown where Andrew Cuomo deivered a 35 minute speech calling for the public to become agents of change.
In essence, Mr. Cuomo says there has been no change in Albany because the public has not really demanded it.
He is right...the dialogue (at least that reported in the media) is all about restoring school aid, getting grants, saving prisons, and granting tax breaks.
Those who really want less government don't get the megaphone of the media...That goes to the school superintendents, labor bosses, politicians, heads of social agencies and media barons who have relatives working in the aforementioned occupations.
All of those special interests will be on display at JCC today carefully watching to make sure the man they voted for doesn't try to upset their apple cart.

More false dichotomy... What is being proposed, is holding one gear of the government transmission still while the others are allowed to turn.
Don't simply cut administrators at the same time you are passing stupid anti-bullying mandates and demanding every student pass regents exams. Here is a reality check...some children SHOULD be "left behind".
How about cutting the requirements for administrators? Then the pay would go down. There is no other business that I can think of that runs with so few chiefs accept maybe "sales".
Lets see if these "union" "workers" are about solidarity or just scabs. Lets ask them to cut pay and benefits then we could cut positions at a slower pace through attrition. Or will they demand you cut their brethren's jobs instead?
So far this is just disingenuous BS coming from Cuomo because you cannot just cut one thing (jobs)without everything else imploding. You need to cut corresponding mandates and legal exposure and obligations, along with each job.
Please name one law Mr Cuomo!!!!!!
Just cut one. I don't care which one...any one!
How about the law that makes a little old lady financially responsible to the tune of a million dollars, for the guy she hired to fix her door when he fell off the ladder?
Or the law that makes anyone that slips on the ice rich, at the business owners expense?
How about making it easier to get a building permit for a simple 2000 sqft house?
How about that adultery law they were prosecuting out in buffalo(lewdness aside)last year?
How about making it easier to get a masseuse license or a barbershop license? How long does it take to learn that craft? We treat it like an MD license in this state.
Hey Mr. Cuomo,
SOME of us have been calling for change for a loooooooooooong time.
Glad to hear your comments. Please have the intestinal fortitude to follow through.
It may cost you a second term in Albany but open doors in D.C.
"...because the public has not really demanded it."
Now hold on there ... a small example of doubt ... couldn't one say Aubertine & Scozzafava were rejected by "the public" ... yet have they not been selected to hold positions of some influence anyway?
So if "the public" cannot rid itself of the individuals by way of vote, what chance is there to rid itself of the policies?
How about cutting the state law that mandates 10 round mags in my semi-auto rifle.
You sure can 342, This is politics, just as any Wind Power investigation was discontinued by the AG office.
Respectfully 3:42, I don't think the public has demanded changes to anything at all. Same politicians, same policies, no cuts, no brainer. If you were an elected official, would you cut anything? I sure wouldn't. The people love every piece of fat they can sink their teeth into. Who cares if they're screwing their own kids.
