I have noticed lots of nanny-state initiatives come out of the Suffolk County Legislature, and here's another one....Banning energy drinks to those under age 19.
Another prohibition to be ignored...Not by the poor retailers forced to enforce society's latest edicts to protect the youngin's....
Listen....if this stuff is bad for you, why are you letting me drink it ?

As dumb as this stuff is, most people seem to like it. The voters love new laws for most anything you can think of. If you propose repeal of any stupid stuff, people revolt. Remember Dannie with his passionate defense of the 55mph speed limit? Sure it would save lives. So would helmets in cars. Most would support raising the smoking age to 23, or even 25, even though it would be impossible to enforce. Look at the cell phone laws. 75% of the people you see driving around are talking on a phone or texting. Police can't stop it. We get more of these every year, and we want more every year. Its like a government security blanket. Laws used to mean something.
And this is where the state Republicans wanted to draw their next governor from... ha!
This is just another example of the government attempting to infiltrate into the daily lives of its citizins... tisk tisk...
I find driving and cell phone talking somewhat distracting because I am so busy looking out for cops.
I agree if it is bad for a 19yo it is bad for the rest of us.
You know what can be really bad for you is military service...they should ban that until you reach 21 or 25.

I find it amazing that Government always seems to try to pass laws that protect us from ourselves, whether it's energy drinks, alcohol, tobacco products or any other LEGAL product on the market. Maybe we simply have too many Politicians who end-up sitting around doing nothing other than coming-up with stupid stuff.
