Is Carl Crazy to Attack Liz For His Lousy Showing This Year ?

Wow....the choice of snowbound western New Yorkers for governor has passed on another showdown with Dicker and instead has lambasted Liz Benjamin for being an immature, incompetant, obsequious lap dog to official Albany.
In a letter posted on CapCon, Buffalo attorney and businessman Carl Paladino issues a lengthy treatise on how the Albany press is part of the problem by trading favor with insiders for going easy on the corruption and dysfunction.
He even says Liz will never make it to the big time.....Carl, she is already there.....
It is true, pols seek her favor, and secretly fear her due to her stature as premier blogger and host of Capital Tonight on YNN. It is true most of us wouldn't dare criticizing those funky necklaces she wears on the air for fear of never getting to be a talking head again.
Now I can understand Carl calling her immature as she looks considerably younger than her years.......but seriously she has made state government watchable for the all of us in the real world and doesn't seem easily taken in....
Everyone will give Mr. Cuomo some slack because he is new and why start a fight before he even raises his right hand ?...After all, voters did speak and even the press has to respect that, at least for a couple months.
Mr. Paladino was on Capital Tonight several times and I think got treated fairly. In fact Liz was pretty nice to him.
Carls letter does address the serious issue of government-press collusion, but it is written by the wrong man at the wrong time. It comes off as sour grapes, and while the public likely doesn't mind seeing Dicker given some grief, there is a limited audience for beating up on the bookish, girl-next-door journalist still working at being friends with the Teleprompter.
Clearly when Liz next visits the Queen City, she won't be squired around by Crazy Carl.

Capton hostess generally does a fine job in interviewing . I've watched this since Brian Taffe & Co stated the series . Her style is not a smooth as Taffe's was but it is non the less informative and generally penetrating in terms of the style of questions .

That said : I felt in the case of the Cuomo interview she seemed almost deferential , which was surprising to me . It may have been her forgone conclusion that the election was a non- event but i wished the same zealous fervor and prickly line of inquiry had been pursued .

Perhaps she is saving it up for WHEN the governing process starts !

However on balance Ms B does a very good job of interviewing . Liz learn from this one, there's always a grain of insight to be gathered from MOST feedback-- take what you can from it and move on !

I think Carl has a point. When it came right down to it, the media people who pride themselves as independent thinkers lined right up and bent over. They did that last time, this time, and no doubt will do it next time. Does ya sense a pattern here? And you wonder why NYS just keeps marching to oblivion. Next up, Governor StatusSchneiderman, supported by all special interests.

Mayor you think everyone has a 24 hour memory span around here. Now its Crazy Carl, well there are a lot of people, yourself included that tried to convince people that crazy 'Carl' was a viable candidate for the Republican Party. Why kick the guy when he's so down for calling it the way he sees it? I haven't watched Liz as much as I'd like frankly, but I'm sure she's very good at what she does. I'm also of the opinion she goes easy on certain people. I thought her interview of Doug Hoffman for example, was a case of going a little to easy on his stated program. But that's all in the eye of the beholder.

Well Mr. Mayor, just a few posts ago you were explaining how the media was in it for Cuomo... is Liz not part of the media?? Double talk much?

Incapable of comprehending the concept of "generally" much?

The way I saw it Liz handled Carl with kids gloves as much as she could considering what he was saying in the press. But she was a little more stern with cuomo.

Liz has made it in the professional sense of the word. But honestly no one really knows who she is or watches her except for hard core political spectators.

It is the rest of the media that went light on Cuomo, and heavy on Carl, not Liz.

This is one more example of why Carl was a poor candidate. I voted for him because he would make a better Governor than a Democrat, but nevertheless he was a poor excuse for a conservative.

BTW...Jeff could not be more wrong about Cuomo's inevitable election. A good candidate could have beaten Cuomo in this race, just like in NJ. It is almost like neither candidate even ran a campaign except for the media running a negative one against Carl. But Liz WAS NOT part of that.

Absolutely wrong, 4:09. You can SAY a good candidate could have beaten Cuomo, but those days are gone in NYS. The open minded and those who actually work for a living have left the state. We are forever Blue. There will be no more Governors from the Elephant party. Too many making a living from Free Stuff.

3:23 ; I do agree with your perspective; and I will add that people can call Carl, what they may, but at least he was the only one to dare speak harsh words, and the truth, about the politics of NYS.

10;26, obviously we can only speculate. But please point out how the demographics of NJ are different than those in NY? They are in fact very similar, and so the honest analysis is mine....but I feel your emotional analysis that ignores the facts too.

The only wins that will take place for the Republicans will be sporadic. And only then they will come after the Donkeys have run a state into the ground fiscally or with massive corruption. As of now, even the corruption doesn't matter much anymore. So when a Rep wins a statewide office, they won't be able to change much. The Free Stuff machine, financed with borrowed money, is the way of the future. Media supports it all the way, so campaign financing won't me much of an issue either. The Donkeys have a huge advantage with the MMM every day, and that costs them nothing. I understand your argument and I do hope you are correct and I am wrong. I doubt it though. Free Stuff is hard to beat. And its not just the receivers, not at all. Its the machine created for handing it all out. I don't see a future where people live on their own ambition and work. They live off government jobs and entitlement.

Went to the stinkin' mall yesterday. Despite the high unemployment, there were hiring signs in lots of the stores. I don't blame young people for not working. Much better to get on a program.
