Today the federal debt reduction panel reports. "Bold proposals" are promised...They are sitting down to make their findings known as I write this.
Little will be enacted because of what I call (as of today) the Scarborough Doctrine.
On Morning Joe today I heard the now anxious-to-please-all host parrot the GOP line about no tax hikes in a slow economy and then he blurted out that its no time to be attacking the federal deficit through budget cuts.......Wow, Joe has become an amalgam of the ortodoxy from both sides of the aisle.
Joe is still aflutter over speculation he could be on a national ticket with his show's patron saint Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
We cannot continue to have the old paradigm of "tax cuts" and "stimulus"...If we want to spend at current levels, and keep providing "free sh--" to everyone...we will have to raise taxes dramatically.
There is no appetite for cuts.

Should anything even remotely resenbling "Bold proposals" be revealed they will be all talk & no fruition. If anything, the weakest members of 'our' society will continue to be sacrificed upon the Pentagon altar.
End the wars. "War is the health of the State" (Bourne). Bring the Imperial forces Home from the hundreds of outposts around the world. Disband 50% of the standing army forthwith. A people owning some 400 million privately owned firearms does not need to fear invasion.
This nation does not need to spend some $1.5 trillions yearly on a National Security State.
When that much money is being spent and grandma is being strip-searched at the airport, something is drastically wrong and it ain't the Commies, "Islamofacists", or any other boogie-man with a funny accent and a strange insistance on minding their own business.
Anyone watching this has to laugh as the Republicans try to explain why cutting the'Bush Tax Cuts,' is a bad thing in terms of defict reduction. The connection to the Rich taking this tax break for years and there being no real linkage to growing the economy is another story. Free sh--! The Rich are looking for it Mayor! But the Middle-Class gets the rap for expecting 'Tax Relief.' Why?
I'll wager that Pres. Obama holds firm against keeping 'Bush Tax Cuts ' in place, even though the popular tinking is he's going to cave, and extend them for a year, or two according to most news sources. Cutting the deficit is too big a priority now, I think he'll hold firm and the cts wll be a reality soon.

It's laffable Free shi_ for the Rich has been going on for many yrs . Reagan and his trickle down economics which his own budget director David Stockman recently called a failure was instrumental in the beginning of the Law of the Excluded Middle -- elimination of the middle class . And of course lets not forget Bush cuts and the Paulson led bailout of the Banks . Lets not forget corporate welfare and Pilots for low numbers of job created WITH NO LONGITUDINAL studies to SEE IF the jobs actually persisted once the Corporate welfare deal expired . etc etc etc.
I don't understand any of the last two posts. We're obviously not spending enough on education.
There is some strong medicine in the proposal from the chairmen of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission. Everyone has to sacrifice. I doubt the Commission as a whole will support it tomorrow. Even if they did, I don't see Congress embracing it whole. However, they may adopt enough of it, including some tax reform, to make a significant dent in the deficit.

We need people like you on the Republican side, go for it and act like you can dumb it down and see how we clobber you next time!

We just need to cut the $55,000 Retirement checks for state workers - who then, at 52, work another cushy state gig for $45,000 a year.
Cut out the double and triple dipping b.s., stop paying paper shufflers disguised as School Superintendents $107,000 a year, and those of us "knocking down" $20,000 a year might just be able to afford our government. As it stands... well, most of us will be collecting our S.S. checks NOT in Jeff. Co., but in some "retirement community" in Venezuela, tyvm. Then let them triple dippers eat cake.
Mikey, it didn't quite work out that way last time, now did it?
Don't count on people always being stupid. That what your case relies upon. People learn. Not many are buying your program of Free Stuff and more taxes and spending. Not anymore. But you can continue to make the case.
Get your teaching job yet?
Biggest quadruple dipper in the state, Evul, is the newly elected Lt Gov. But he's your party so keeep quit.
"Vote Republican and Screw 99 percent of America!" After all the people in the One percent and by the way who are also the Richest people in America need that tax break. No we don't call it free stuff. SHHHH! No free stuff for us, we wouldn't take it anyway. SSSSHHHHHH!!!!!!! You guys get funnier everyday. I just have to say it, anyone who stands for this had better be ready to have me working against them full-time. So if you're running for Mayor make itreal clear where you're lining up this election!
Midlle-Class Mike
That's all you do, Donkey breath, is take more and more free stuff from people who work for it. It has proven to be an excellent way to buy votes from people who are stupid, lazy, and just don't know any better. The key her is taking more and more money for the government is not the answer. It never has been. You dopes just keep thinking shoveling more money intogovernment makes things rosier. It never has.
Yeah we're dopes, Elephant breath, but get this, we want you out of office, becaue you percenters don't represent the other 99 percent of us. Do the Math ...

Ya gots to come up with your own material. This is not a Free Stuff website, Mikey.
I'm disappointed in you.

There's nothing here to refute.
-period after "me"
-"your" is you're or you are
