MAYOR WHEN DID THE LIGHT GO ON FOR YOU?
To quote Marlin, "Local property tax cap. Retiring baby boomers, whose entire Social Security allowance is being used to pay property taxes, are selling their homes in droves and moving to low-tax states." Young people are also leaving New York because they don’t have the earning power to cover mortgage payments and with huge taxes. Despite all the talk of frugality, school taxes on Long Island continue to soar. My tax bill due this month jumped 8 percent – three times the inflation rate. If the mass exodus is to be stopped, a genuine cap that restrains tax and spend school district bureaucrats should be a top priority."

I made at least ten calls to your show over the last year and argued that 'Property Taxes' and School taxes had become regressive in nature, destroying the Middle-Class home owners ability to function, denying them the kind of disposable income necessary to maintain any worthwhile lifestyle whats-so-ever. You immediately would go into a spin to sidestep the issue. You wouldn't agree with cutting property taxes to levels of 'Ten Years Ago" as I suggested, but instead lectured me about how I better be prepared to deal with the cut in services that would result from any tax cuts. You sounded a lot more like a politician who hated to part with any tax money coming in then a politician that wanted to do right by the citizens of Watertown, who you serve and who voted you into office. LETS KEEP IT REAL HERE! You didn't want to give home owners "tax amnesty,' but now 'THE LIGHTS HAVE GONE ON" and you know you have to get elected so now you refer us to Mr. Marin. We didn't need Mr. Marin to tell us 'Tax Relief' was long over due around here! YOU DID!!!!
