While GOP nominee for 2010.Matt Doheny, is pondering 2012, the continued presence of Hoffman is an issue.

Doug Hoffman has all intentions to run in 2012.. He is not a unprincipaled canidate looking out for only himself and special interests. He has proven he could win if wannabes like Doheny quit trying to buy the votes.. If Doheny wants Owens out then he should. Doheny and his preppies should find another line of work in the meantime.. He should give some community service and volunteer to work with the coast guard keeping the river clear of a--holes boating and drinking..

I attended the Ogdensburg City Council meeting last week and watched mayor Nelson and Councilman Powers try to pass the buck on the Murder on Ogdensburg off on the State Legislature.. Most people dont buy this and know its the leadership of Ogdensburg that should change their ways and improve the City enviorment.. Of Course Nicky Vaugh wasnt there. I guess he was kissing GOP a-- at the GoP party on Ford St instead of the job he was elected for..
Nelson and Powers are wrong.. The Rockerfeller laws being revamped isnt whats wrong with the Burg. They would have the police put everyone in jail and prison if they had their way.. Its job security for Powers and Ogdensburg.. We need to close the Prisons up here if possible. We need to clean this enviorement up and help the police dept not cut them constantly.. The police need to step up also. The neighborhood watch they formed is smoke that will only lead to more trouble. We need cops on the streets not on time off. We need councilors that quit passing trivial laws that the cops cant enforce. We need to get rid of the City Manager, Planner and hire a new Hwy supr. We need to quit grandstanding about the Rockerfeller laws and step up attend meetings and do your job.

Most have never actually RUN an organization at the senior level of leadership and lack the managerial sophistication and will to get the city administration focused and on track with the actual resolution of the problems you cited.

Doug Hoffman was stabbed in the back and still almost beat Matt Doheny. Why shouldn't Doug Hoffman have the right to run again if he chooses to in 2012? Doug Hoffman would be Congressman Hoffman right now if the local county Republican chairmen had kept their noses out of it. There are always those loyal party menbers who vote the way the party tells them. What is a primary all about? The county chairmen should have kept their opinions to themselves and let the people decide who the candidate will be. A pre-primary endorsement was a huge boost for Doheny. The Republicans did this to themselves. They have done it in 2 election cycles now, so I doubt they have learned anything from it. Owens could be representing this conservative district for a long time.

I attended the last council meeting in da burg as well. I did not view any of this which the previos anon state.
What I saw was a man concerned for his kids and the kids in our community. A man stateing the obvious and asking the citizens for help in fighting the rise in crime and violent crime in our city.
The facts are just that, facts. The state legislators spend for their ridiculous reasons. They have over the last ten years. Who pays now? We the people pay. How you might ask? Their negligence with our taxes we have to cut services in crime prevention and detention. Powers was right on. The scum are back on he streets selling their wares with little consequence.
I find it funny if you liberals were present at that meeting the mayor and councilor Powers received applause frem ALL there, that leads to believe that you libs are happy with demise of our city. The ultimate turkey's in this election were Doug Hoffman and Patty Ritchie/Darrel Aubertine. I'll begin with the Hoff-meister...
Hoffman ran the worst primary campaign I have ever seen. I thought he would be the nominee, but that he would have to beat a rising-star like Doheny. He got out worked and changed my primary vote from Hoffman to Doheny. That's how Doheny got the nomination - he earned it. Then to make the case even worse, Hoffman waited, and waited, and waited to endorse Doheny and ask his Conservative Party voters not to split the vote. That waiting and then his alleged unwillingness to actively campaign with Doheny cost the Republicans and Conservatives the seat. Doug Hoffman is the ultimate turkey, but both candidates for the 48th also deserve a few words...
Darrel Aubertine must be livid...he must be absolutely livid having lost to Patty Ritchie even after handing out every favor, plum Member-money grant and every other thing these pol's do. He lost because of the wave of anti-incumbency and really nothing else. He also failed to connect his opponents unwillingness to debate the isues openly with the public to her taking every dime she could from Senate Republicans. Patty Ritchie deserves a bit of the Turkey label because she hid from the voters all election. She never took a position on really anything and no one saw a debate. She ran a stealth campaign, gave no ideas on policy and rode the wave. That in my book is a turkey and I'll be watching to see what she does as a Senator.

Morley has his faults but one of them has never been his ability to speak for the working taxpayer in the burg. The natinal enquirer (Journal) agrees that the neighborhood watch is a. Good tool. They endorsed the Chamber and quoted Powers yet recognized the chamber director for his quotes. He won't admit that nor will he care.

I have worked along side of Mike Powers for close to 20 years. He is the most selfless individual I've ever known in corrections. He has educated many in our ranks about the blatant dysfunction which is Albany.
I see him the same way serving in city. Selfless. He doesn't pound his chest or pat his back. That is not him. He has conveyed to me that everything he wanted to get started or done in his campaign has happened or is under way.
Not to worry anon he has also told me he will not seek re elction he will probably lead our state union.
Your loss, our gain
All the Hoffman haters seem to know which came first the chicken or the egg.
Doheny definitely worked hard.
But he did not just earn the primary...he bought the primary with hundreds of thousands of negative advertisements.
Even with all that he still only won by a few hundred votes.
A few hundred votes that could have easily gone the other way if the leaders had backed Hoffman instead of Doheny or just stayed out of it until after the primary.
Doheny's performance in both the primary and the election is proof that he is not an appealing candidate. You may not agree that having Wall street poop breath is anything to be ashamed of, but you are living in dreamland if you don't think a lot of voters find it repulsive.
I say, lets run Hoffman again. Next time he will get 12% of the vote and Pelosi will win again.
