Polls show New Yorkers are optimistic about the upcoming Cuomo administration and why not ? I know all the fears about "status Cuomo" and the WFP's grip on the Democratic Party. But the reason for being optmistic and supportive is that the election is over, the choice was made and even if you are still a grumbling mad-as-Hell person, there is no alternative to hoping the new governor achieves some success.
Voters say they want the Governor to focus on the job he has and not be looking ahead to national ambitions. That's good advice and I have found that true on the local level. Politics lends itself to looking ahead to the next level. People still ask me 'what's next ?" The answer is I have a great job and work to do....I am more than happy to attend political events and will give advice and help to those who ask, but as for ambitions...Mine is to do a good job at what I am doing....
The new Governor should do the same, although just like his counterpart in neighboring NJ, our new governor will spend a lot of time answering questions about 2012 and 2016. He should just ignore them.
NYers To Cuomo: Focus On The Job You’ve Got

I hope he does achieve success at fixing our state but that doesn't necessarily mean he achieves success at what his goals are.
The election is not over, they have elections every year. The governor is not a dictator and he needs the senate and legislator to sign off on much of what he does. But they can override him.
So to me it makes no sense to blindly sign on to his agenda. He needs his agenda pointed in the right direction. Cutting state jobs and their wages and benefits. Consolidation will not amount to a hill of beans. Our local reps might possibly listen, so it makes sense to still fight the fight.
I think Cuomo will do what he needs to if he gets something besides nay from the Senate and Assembly. Now its apparent that Dean Skelos will control the Senate and our Senator for the next two years all we can hope for is Ancrew to do his job and expose the roadblocks to all of us.
You're full of it, 11:05. Anyone who can look at this state's problem and blame Skelos is a fool. Earth to idiot. Skelos hasn't been in charge the last couple years.
And you feel so bad about people saying no. In this economic times, NYS, in the past two years, has raised spending 15%. Now I ask you, does you think anybody should have said no to that crap? To you its all about getting along and saying yes? Don't ever move. You're in the only state that understands your stupidity.
Skelos- the architect of the Espada/Monseratte takeover.
Donkeys, the architects of a morally and fiscally bankrupt state. And the main reason your kids don't live here any more.
As a dog returneth to his vomit, so too the fool returneth a Cuomo to Governorship.
I don't know, 4:50, any thinking person would certainly look at the problems of this state and focus on that nasty Dean Skelos. How could we blame the Spitter, NYC Dems, Thug Sheldon, or any of the other special interest groups?
