Defeated Likely Ponder Whether There's a Second Act in Politics for Them

I think those who took a shot this year but came up short, may try again....Attached is a statement from Kristin Davis pledging to keep working perhaps towards a 2014 effort to establish a new party. I think Matt Doheny tries again in two years. He has worked the district and with a campaign not unsettled and rattled by an internecine fight with Doug Hoffman, he might have a good shot at it. Mr. Doheny spent the weekend attending sectional football games at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.
I think a Darrel Aubertine might consider a run, although there's easier ways to earn a living than trying to win that seat back.
Dave Forsythe and Brian McGrath certainly ran good efforts and may be back.

Don't forget about the effects of redistricting on some of the legislative hopefuls.

I don't see Forythe coming back, but you can count on Doheny and McGrath. Both are young and smart. I was very impressed by the credible campaigns both of them ran. McGrath's numbers in the Republican 122 in a Republican year should be cause for a lot of alarm for Ken. Also, don't rule out gerrymandering Ken over into the River District.

As for Darrel, I think he enjoys his pension.

Davis' pic here today and the flyer ones - wow - great kudos for her make up artists ... ouch for us!

Like Patty and her H/S grad photo splashed all over, not like her in real life.

And, Graham always goes with looks like a senator, or Rep. or whatever... looks mean squat, right?

Not always ...he backed Aubertine over Ritchie and Doheny over Owens....
I think he got involved with her for something interesting to do.

I watched all the campaigns and all the debates on Jeff Cole's show, and have to say that the star among the whole group was Brian McGrath. Smart, articulate and a nice guy. He is the one to watch in this group.

Speculate.. Dohenys Washington run has ended.I do see him challangeing Ritchie for the Party line and thats why he spent so much on her to win. He knows she will be a failure and he is going to try and cash in on that. Next year Doug Hoffman make uphis mind for 2012 McGrath likely will attempt if the guy is sincere..
Forsythe is another story... Hunting fishing and enjoys outdoors. I dont think he fits in the zoo.. Aubertine I think will be back and it will be Doheny vs Aubertine..

I think we will see Cuomo give Darrel a cushy appointment. Maybe commissioner of Ag & Markets. Lots of patronage jobs for Aubertine to dole out there...Dems take care of their own...(well, so do Repubs)

you could of at least posted a more flattering shot of your madam friend. she has the north country look in this shot

If Kristen is smart, she moves to Nevada and takes up her old profession, which is a heck of a lot more honerable than N.Y. politics. And just exactly is wrong with the "north country look", whatever that is? This ole country boy thinks she looks just fine, thank you.

Yes, Doheny needs to distance himself from wall street and clean up his personal life and he could be an excellent candidate in 2010. He has two years to improve. I hope he does it.

Let's be honest folks, winning an election because your cute is one thing but Darrel is not smart enough to be Commissioner of Ag & Mkts even if he is gifted the job. The flock will run all over him.

"Maybe commissioner of Ag & Market."

You are kidding right? You still don't get that Darrel entered into a serious ethics violation with his his signed deal with a foreign wind developer.

Plus he did not agree with Aubertine on anything. Aubertine even said when Cuomo was right in front of him in Wateertown that we agree to disagree.

Cuomo's first selection of higher ups will be vetted very carefully. Unethical conduct is not one of the qualifications Cuomo is looking for. Darrel is done..

ummm... He is on the very short list for Ag and Markets

Mcgrath is also apparently inline for a Cuomo Admin gig.

I hope Doheny gets a job in politics. That would be a good primer for the 2012 election. He would be a good congressman, he only needed to validate his motives.

I don't think any of these "facts" will change anything here in NNY. We love government. If Owen's mating with Nancy Pelosi and his pivitol role in the health care bill was not enough for the voters, we are pretty well set as a district of fools. Like StatusCuomo noted today, we rank #1 in education spending, #40 in achievement. That shows when we have elections. The election of Owens says a lot more about us than about the candidates.
