The newly renovated concession stand at the Fairgrounds Ice Arena looks great and is a vast improvement over the hodge podge of home griddles and Fry-Babies that were used before.
The newly remodeled stand is clean and well equipped and the type of place people want to do business.
The City Council voted to have the Recreation Department take over operation of the stand after a series of private groups lost interest in running it.
The new stand is better in terms of quality control, staffing and accounting of funds. It should be able to be a modest revenue stream to the city.
Kudos to those who worked on the project.

Great choice to upgrade the concession stand. The arena is a great resources for city kids, and up keep of the facility is important!
Why don't we run the one at the ballfield?? Who runs it now?
Please tell me it is not going to be staffed with city employees. I hate to pay pensions and health-care in perpetuity to the guy serving me a hot dog at the rink.
Sometime I try to write about relatively small but positive things that happen in city government...as i want people to be proud of Watertown and its employees.
The concession stand is not a huge thing, but its a positive change for the arena.
I see the nattering na-bobs are out in full force. What depressing people they must be, to always look for the negative in anything. If it were up to them they would still be living in caves, not only afraid to try something new, but to put down those who do seek to better their lot.

I ALWAYS WONDER HOW THE CONCESSIONAL STAND AT ICE ARENA PASSED HEALTH INSPECTION. AT LEAST IT LOOKS HEALTHIER.
