All Three CD's Next to Us Appear to Have Flipped

Anne Marie Buerkle is gaining ground as more absentees are counted in NY25, the Syracuse based seat held by Rep. Dan Maffei. With a clear plurality of absentees cast coming from registered Republicans, it is widely thought Ms. Buerkle will win.
That means all three Congressional districts adjacent to our NY23 are now held by the GOP..Currently they are all held by Democrats.....It will be interesting to see how that affects redistricting.
Rep. Bill Owens lives in Plattsburgh, and to maintain a district he can win, he will need those areas like St. Lawrence County which went heavily his way.
Given you can't pick up or lose real estate on three sides of NY23, it would seem the North Country may be left in tact....or the extreme opposite would be to attach portions of NNY to the 20th,24th and 25th.....
With the state legislature likely split, nobody will be able to force a radically partisan plan, so the likely deal would seem to be, protect incumbents where possible.
Since one and maybe two seats will be lost due to the census, somebody will be out of luck...But likely not someone like Owens located on a remote corner of upstate.
If the 23rd is essentially unchanged except for adjusting around the edges, look for an Owens-Doheny rematch..With Doug Hoffman out of the picture as the deal will be cut this time to not allow Hoffman the Conservative line.

Dream on mayor.. Doheny is all done up here.. Hoffman will never be out of the picture in this race. He and only he can unseat Owens.

The Mayor worries more about Doheny making it back in two years then getting re-elected himself.
Why? You'd think after all that was pulled on Doug Hoffman, they'd put away the playbook on how to screw him next time out and just let the best candidate run... Doug Hoffman. What's this Doheny will win in two years stuff? Please give it up, because it getting older by the day.

The mayor just wants someone from Watertown to represent us in Washington. Doheny could be Pelosi in pants, and the mayor would still support him because he's from Watetown. How else do you explain his support for Addie, who's essentially Shelly Silver in a skirt?

They call them CD's in the business do they?

His support for AJR is because Ted Ford Works for her. Let the member items flow.

I am a rep and pretty sick of hearing Hoffman cost us the seat. Look no way in hell does Matt get 100% of votes Doug pulled. Some would not vote, some would vote for Owens and some would vote for Matt. Bottem line Matt would need like 90% of the voters who voted for Hoffman to vote for him. Never going to happen. I would place money he would get a best a 70/30 spilt and that would not have got him the votes to beat Owens. 70/30 is huge split to Matt's side, still Owens would have one.

It is a long shot indeed...to be the prom queen with a big Wall Street zit on your face. If you cannot win when your opponent is 8 months pregnant with Obamacare then you ought to give up.

If Doheny and Hoffman genuinely want to help the conservative cause, then they should put all their efforts into recruiting a candidate that doesn't suck.

PaaLEEZE! Not Doheny again! His lack of charcter, in the fact that he is an alcohol drinker, leaves much to be desired. There has GOT to be a "new" candidate that the Republicans can run, that has character and leadership qualities!

Oh No!!!! Not an ALCOHOL DRINKER!!!! Please. At least he isn't a sanctimonious liar like Doug Hoffman.

I got fired by the dems....? Daaaah, what are you talking about ... make so sense will you.

People have an opinion on this and Matt Doheny isn't always to everyones liking, so why go into a tizzy over the reality of the situation. I think Anon 8:11 is right on target here. Open your mind up a little bit, its not a big plot. People want a different candidate next time is that a crime?
