Those direct mail pieces out of Virginia continue assailing Senator Darrel Aubertine and praising challenger Patty Ritchie...They are boiler plate glossies sent to all close State Senate districts, except the names are changed.
Candidate Ritchie tells the WDT she has no idea who is sending them, althought their presence is a huge defacto contribution to her campaign.....
I am sorry...there is no such thing as anonymous, unsolicited mailings on this level. Its orchestrated. That's not bad, but we live in a system where voters expect to know who is contributing to each campaign.
This effort circumvents the process, and the candidates claim of ignorance on the source is not convincing.
Nor is the evasion of public forums by the Ritchie campaign....Now I realize these tactics would be done by the Dems if they were in the same situation.....Mrs. Ritchie is hoping to run out the clock as she perceives she is ahead. I would too.

I actually believe Ritchie. third parties spend money all the time on elections without the consent of the candidates. In fact, some of these flyers are not very good. Mispelling Darrel's name and criticizing him for voting for the MTA tax (which only effects downstate counties who use the NYC subway system and Long Island Rail) are not very effective. If there was coordination I think the mailings would be a little better and less corny. And if there is coordination, wouldn't Patty have paid the group doing the mailings?
From what vantage point do you speak that you claim to know that there is not such thing as anonymous mailings?
I am very ignorant about how politics works but I would think that if it is true that the entry level candidates don't call all the shots in their own campaigns then they likely would not know who is responsible for out of state mailings either.
It's like I said Drew is loosing and now he is trying to call her out.But if I remember correct Darrell had the same thing happen to him when the republicans tried to get him to debate.She is playing his game and beating him at it good for her.I am refering to the letter that Drew sent out about her ducking, she is only doing to Darrell what he did to Will and Dave naking it look good thats what its about..
I wonder if Patty would ask for them to be stopped if she were behind in the polls.
I have received these mailing and like the mayor said it is to all close races. If it was Ritchie's group they would not be sending them to other candidates. This is beyond her control and it just goes to show everyone is fed up with Mr. Aubertine.
Mayor, you said it yourself it is to all close races not just Ritchies. That is not saying the Albany crew is not sending mailers.
Anon 9:11 did they spell Darrel wrong? The people Darrel hired to disrupt the GOP rally held signs misspelling Darrel's name. Where does he find these people.

The last two commentators are really pathetic. Their loyality to the GOp is unquestionable. Most of us want change but when it comes to a canidate outright telling a lie about of all things who is printing these things. If she isnt lieing then I can only believe she is totally in the dark with her party and will only do the same thing everyone is accusing Aubertine of doing. She will be controlled by either some powerful downstate GOP or a special interst that controls the downstate GOP.
Patti Ritchie is only a pawn in a much larger power game in ALbany. Darrell Aubertine has done the North Country justice with his voting and deserves our vote. Pat Ritchie to date has done nothing but state the obvious. We are tired of NYC running our affairs up here. What will we do about it. The solution lies in a change in the state ammendments and laws not in voting in some person just to bow to Downstate Republicans as Wright did. In the present senerio in ALbany we will always be behind NYC in votes no matter who is in office. Jesus himself could give us his vote but NYC would outnumber him.. The real solution is to have our politicans lobby for changes in the state settup. Perhaps NYC should be an enity in their own?
Never before has so much been at stake and so little been said. Ritchie needs to step forth and give us some idea of what she is all about and some of her ideas of what she might do as a solution ffor our obvious challanges.. Never mind hiding from debates never mind rallying around Lisa Smithers rah rah rah
I have to laugh when Ritchie Discussions come up.. People who downright dislike her and have tried to defeat her by supporting others when she has run are now pretending to support her.. A recent picture in the journal shows Ritchie along with a city councilor who quit his race letting his constituants down who openly labeled Ritchie pathetic a little over a year ago and a mayor who openly endorced her opponent in her run for assembly a few years ago the picture would give the opinion they endorce her. With friends like that you sure dont need enemies... Who has the lifetime GOP now in the assembly 122nd endorce. She seems to be being quiet.. Of course thats what this race is about shssssssssssssssss
