Last year after washing out of the NY23 race as the GOP candidate, DeDe Scozzafava "crossed the aisle" as the media calls it, to endorse Bill Owens, who won largely as a result.
DeDe insisted she was still a Republican.
This year she backed Democrat Brian McGrath to succeed her in the Assembly seat she is leaving...Again...reaching across the aisle.
Today she was in Westchester County at an Andrew Cuomo rally posing with a Cuomo sign and the candidate himself.....
Now the question was posed to her if she would "cross the aisle" and support Bill Owens again this year....
Wait a minute...At what point is she no longer crossing an "aisle", regardless of what her voter registration card says?

WHO CARES?
Pink RINO lady's significance in that race is slightly less than that of sidewalk sputum
Could you image her not wanting to be a Republican? I can! And she has a right to choose her own candidate free of all the harassment you guys dole out to people who can't find a 'Republican' they want to vote for in this election.
And she has a right to get run out the race by all the other members of the party too.
Personally, I'm still waiting to see who Arlen Specter endorses.
Why must people continue to try and tear her down? For many many many years, she represented us well.
She is a good person and I'd vote for her in a heartbeat again for whatever she ran for.
Why must she continue to be a registered republican?
It is very poor taste on her part.
She did not represent ME well.
In fact, any alleged good she did, she more than canceled by endorsing Owens and thus bringing about Obamcare.
With all the money this country spends we should all have free health care. But no, we are the fattest country in the world, we know nothing about nutrition, nobody works any more. You want the gov't to find jobs, well they found jobs for a lot of soldiers, didn't they? The only other way your gov't can create jobs is CCC camps. We need some kind of health care, and this is a start in the right direction. I haven't heard just exactly what alternative the Republicans suggested instead.
The Repubs wanted NAFTA etc and now where are the jobs? If you all insist on paying only minimum wage, no body could afford a health care plan anyway. You complain about GM getting bailed out, but now the union has offered a new type of pay scale when the new plant opens in Lake Orion. Why am I not hearing about that?
Last year, after dropping out, conservative Republicans hoped she would endorse the competition in the Conservative party. However, moderate Republicans were happy that she endorsed the Democratic competition. Either way, she would have been endorsing a candidate who sought to defeat the Republican party.
It strikes me as funny, that those who complain about Scozzafava and call her "RINO" are usually the same conservative Republicans who allow T.E.A. Party candidates, with their belief that Republicans are no better than Democrats, to hijack their party as a temporary vehicle to power. Then, after these conservative Republicans and their T.E.A. Party candidates exhaust the resources of the Republican party and alienate it from the moderate majority, they lose the election and leave the party crippled, broken and unappealing to all voters. They're the real "RINO's".
When she backed the more moderate Owens, Scozzafava proved to be a loyal Republican who is concerned for her party's sustainability. The majority of voters are moderates. To remain viable, the Republican party must appeal to moderates and distance itself from their unelectable, fringe conservative element. Not vice versa.
What a total disgrace! She'll do anything for money. Isn't there a term for that?
Wow! RINO libtards are so stupid it must hurt.
If she represents the majority and the “moderate”, she should have stayed in the race and won. Her poll numbers sucked because she represents the fewest.
Neither Hoffman nor Doheny are fringe. I keep challenging the libtards to point out in what way or on what issue they are fringe and we keep hearing silence.
Dede is the fringe. Her stance on completely legalizing gay marriage is fringe. I have linked polls before showing that the majority do not believe in that and even 20% of liberals do not believe in that.
Hoffman and Doheny are not fringe on abortion either. I have linked polls before showing that the majority is in favor of some abortion restrictions and only a small minority is completely in favor of unrestricted pro choice.
It is not true that the majority of voters are moderate. They are in fact right of center.
But more important…Dede is not “moderate”…she is left of center.
Pew Survey via CNN.com, three days ago:
"The poll -- which combines two surveys conducted from July to September of this year -- found that 42 percent of Americans favor same-sex marriage, while 48 percent oppose it.
In polls conducted in 2009, 37 percent favored gay marriage while 54 percent were opposed, Pew said."
"Americans in the so-called Millennial Generation -- those born after the 1980s -- favor gay marriage by 53 percent to 39 percent, the poll found. Among those born between 1928 and 1945, just 29 percent favor allowing gays and lesbians to marry legally, while 59 percent are opposed."
It looks like, on the same sex marriage issue, the number of those in favor keeps climbing. Scozzafava represents the large majority of citizens who support gay marriage and will be around a lot longer than conservatives with one foot in the grave.
I don't blame Dede for endorsing Owens last year after her party abandoned her. Point was taken. Done and over with now. Yet she continues to put herself in the news by endorsing Democratic candidates. I find it embarrassing. I wish she would just get it over with and officially change parties.
She is doing Doheny a favor by not endorsing him. He has had to fight being tied with her ever since he donated to her campaign. He doesn't need that nonsense resurrected. And I would think it would be hard for her to endorse Owens after Doheny's contribution to her in the special election. I am not at all surprised she is keepign quiet on this one.
If you say so…
Dede for us23rd in when??? 2050? Okay
But she still has to do it from the side that she’s coming from.
Liberal=dumbocratic side.
She doesn’t represent that majority side that that you predict to be the minority side in time.
But Churchill’s axiom shall remain true and eventually your liberal youths will become conservative adults…unless they have no brain. So it’s going to still be a close race for Dede in 2050.
If she endorses Doheny she owes us an explanation of what issues she differs with Hoffman on that she agrees with Doheny on.
Of course she cannot do that because there are no issues that meet that criteria.
All she did last year was stamp her feet and have a tantrum.
The party did not abandon her, the voters did.
Instead of being angry with the voters she should ask herself why they didn’t want her.
The answer is…
She might have won the seat if she had only run as a democrat.
That’s the party that shares her views.
Of course if I were a democrat (parish the thought) I would not vote for her because she is unscrupulous and untrustworthy…if she will cheat on us conservative she might cheat on you democrats.
Dede ran a shitty campaign pure and simple and then she quits! Impressive.
I frankly don't care what she thinks. When people act out of spite that is a turn off and that is what she is doing. She is entitled to her opinion and I'm entitled not to listen.
All the political wannabes can have their day now.. If DeDe runs for any local or state office from this district against anyone she wins hands down.. Thats how much shes liked up here.. The few grunts that take shots at her on this site mean nothing. They hate everything and everyone. We had years and years of GOP Pataki and Wright and they drove us into the ground. We had years and years of Bush and Cheny and they just about put our nation under. Now that the aftermath of their administrations is catching up with us they all want to replace evrey one and go bac to the GOP wayss... Good Luck
Looking for a job after the election?
12:58, You forgot to say we are racists and homophobes.
BTW...last election, polls showed the voters think Dede sucks...what makes you believe they changed their minds?
The problem is that the often delusional conservative Republicans think they are the Republican party, when, in fact, it belongs to the moderate Republicans just as much.
Sure, the conservatives, who, incidentally, are RINO's who belong in the Conservative party, are louder and more aggressive, but there are just as many moderate, pro-choice, same-sex supporting Republicans. What they need to do is get behind Scozzafava to kick the RINO's who belong in the Conservative party out.
Life has gotten pretty easy, so easy that everyone is looking for a handout. Yes I am talking about people like Middle class Mike.
Country erosion continues and NYS is a prime example. Get Government out of our life and our homes and our wallets.
On behalf of the T.E.A. Party supporters, we'd like thank Dede Scozzafava for being a fiscal conservative, not allowing herself to be defined by her party, and showing that it's better to buck the establishment and make independent choices.
NANCY MARTIN - YOU ARE THE CHAIR OF THE ST. LAWRENCE REPUBLICAN PARTY...BRING DISLOYALTY CHARGES AGAINST THIS LIBERAL, LEFT-IST.
FIRST SHE COSTS US THE SENATE SEAT BY SCREWING BARCLAY AND THEN RENZI, THEN SHE SCREWS UP HER OWN CONGRESSIONAL RUN WHEN THE GOP BACKED HER, THEN SHE ENDORSED A DEMOCRAT COSTING THE GOP THE SEAT AND NOW SHE'S GOING TO DO IT AGAIN. NOT TO MENTION SHE ENDORSED A DEMOCRAT FOR GOVERNOR.
THIS WOMAN IS A LIBERAL, DEMOCRAT NANCY...YOU'RE THE CHAIR, BRING DISLOYALTY CHARGES THAT'S YOUR JOB.
1054.. I read your article and I am now sure what the GOP is all about. Your statement the party didnt abandon her the voters did. WOW.. I thought the registered voters were the party.. I always thought the GOP was all about rich country club elites in charge of a group of people and now it is very obvious..
5:52,
She dropped out of the race because the polls of all the voters showed that they thought she sucked. She was coming in last. Last last last.
That means she sucks sucks sucks.
There sure must be a lot of rich country club elites around here, huh? At any rate....it was the voters not the party that were polled.
3:13, do you have some kind of brain damage?
The polls showed over and over that there ARE NOT JUST AS MANY that are in favor of the things you listed and you mistakenly refer to as "moderate". It was not simply about pro choice. The courts decided that years ago. It is about partial birth abortion and tax payer funded abortion.
It was not just about being fair to unions, it was about a scheme known as "card check" which gave an unfair advantage to unions.
It was not about just being understanding to gays and allowing for civil unions, it was about Dede spearheading the changing of the very definition of matrimonial marriage.
Her veiws are not even well tolerated amongs liberals and democrats much less in the party that she is trying to hijack.
She and her hubbie are looking for employment, and politics will reward her. Just like they did her bro.
Scozzafava looked at the latest mouth-breathing teabagger to ascend the ranks of the Republican party, shook her head and endorsed the other guy. I don't blame her. Hell, the rest of the state is going to do the same thing in twenty days.
Who really expects anyone to endorse Carl Paladino, out of party loyalty or otherwise?
I'm voting for Carl. I cannot allow what is going on in NYS to continue with fighting for some changes. He may not know how to do everything as slick as StatusCuomo but we need new blood, now. How could we do worse.Shelly would not be able to keep his kosher food down if he had to deal with Carl. Great day it would be.
