Ritchie: Darrel Hangs With Really Bad People

Patty Ritchie is going for the jugular with her latest commercials that play the Espada card by noting that Senator Aubertine voted with the disgraced Majority Leader 95% of the time.
There are also lots of pictures of Mr. Aubertine juxtaposed to key Senate Democrats who in the ads happen to look like menacing "urban" men . There is also a NYC skyline superimposed. It is true that 25 of the 32 Senate Democrats are from the City of NY, and that it is a caucus skewed to the City....However, the Aubertine argument is that he helps moderate the majority and uses his leverage to get key items for NNY.
The downstate imagery is clear, and the question is in this Halloween season, how scared will voters be of the prospect that our Senator is one of "them"
It's classic us against them. Lets see if it works...

I see that the bottom feeders are now taking over the campaign -- not surprising God NYS is in serious trouble and will be mired in dysfunction until we get QUALIFIED people off their duffs to run and we get a CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION and have term limits and maybe even a UNICAMERAL legislature as ws suggested by Bob Wells .

NY state is mired in a serious swamp of mediocrity and continuous scandal-- we deserve what we get for putting up with less than adequate candidates who we know to be so, yet still allow the system to melt down under this voter apathy-- GET INVOLVED our children facew a terrible future if we don't change the quality of OUR representatives and DEMAND accountability .

Remeber when the sales tax used to be 7% and then they raised it and most all of the money went to NYS?
Was Darrel around for that?

Regardless, why would we want to give that group majority? You just got finished telling us how sales tax is the chief source of revenue. NYS is like the mafia and they get their tithe. But why do we have to send someone like Darell to be the enforcer for them? Kind of masochistic to vote for him.

He has moderated squat for the downstate caucus and they will roll him time and again in a next session if voters return Aubertine.

If the Democrats keep control you WILL see a farm labor bill and you WILL see OCF closed. Vote to change the majority where upstate had a voice and will once again have it.

If it looks like a duck, smells like a duck and quacks like a duck... it's difficult for Aubertine to defend his NYC pals.

Wasn't it Pattys buddys tom libous and dean skelos who along with their pal pedro espada who pulled of the coup? Did they forget to mention that in the ad?

Anonymous said...

I like this post,I just need some explanation on what leverage your talking about? It is us vs them people wake up!!!!They control everything that goes on.Where has Chuck been anyways?

Hey, Darrell is a downstate hero. If a downstate Senator had wind leases that he lied about for years and sent a letter to public officials in their home town saying it was OK to vote on wind matters while you held wind leases the upstate hypocrites would all over them like a 8th. avenue bum on a thrown out cigar. The only difference between Aubertine corruption and downstate corruption is 250 miles.

This shit started last year against Aubertine. Downstate Republicans can smell blood and need the seat. The person they are running is in bed with all of them and dosnt have a clue what she is in for. I wonder how many Republicans statewide hing out with Joe Brunno who just went to prison this year after years of GOP corruption.. Does this mean anyone associated to him is bad.. If so Bye Bye Skelos... Lets get real... She should take this to the debate table somewhere and make these accusations herself.

Anonymous said...

The first poster hit the problem on the head.. CAnidates like Ritchie who are popular as people dont necessarily make good politicans. Questions about the person are answered by asking questions listening to debates and meeting the canidate.. So far for Ritchie she has struck out on all counts. I have yet to hear any solution to our problems from her staff or herself. Her bosses, Nancy Martin and downstate Republicans wont let her out of their sight. Debates are out as tshe is dodging and being downright obnoxious to organizations wanting to sponsor these debates. She likes low key campaigns they strikes with the dirt at the end... Not getting my vote.

Wake up Aubertine didn't want debates against Renzi.Renzi pushed him into them

Thats right anon1:35 I said that already. She learned how to beat Mr.Aubertine at his own game.He is the one now having to try and draw her out. This will still be close but I have to say my mind on the tight race has changed Owens vs Doheny will be closer.I think Patty wins with bigger margin.Ive been wrong befor only in a couple. It slipping away for MR.A I know when he agrees to do the Hotline thats a big sign before he was to good for that.

The only mantra the Dems have is Bad Bade Patty she won't debate - one word - Tough! Darrel ran his first three elections without saying a word and he was so tightly scripted in the next few it was a laugh.

I agree she is trumping them at their own game.

Its obvious that State Sen. Aubertine has enough on his plate fighting for our District and getting/protecting jobs for us. Its a little much to ask him to go arounde all over the state to tell other districts who they should send to Albany from down state. The man has enough on his shoulders right now as you know most of us need him to be focused on us and our needs.

KC said...

It could easily backfire for Aubertine if she puts a spotlight on his ethics violations...

MCM. I don't know if you know. But the north county has lost 2,200 jobs since August 2009.That's the truth.Look it up.

Middle-Class Mike said...

You know I spoke with the Mayor one day about 4,400 Paper Mill Industry jobs being lost in NYS, and many of them could be pinned on countries like China, manipulating the value of their currency exhange rate against our currency. In other words they had a profit margin advantage in the marketplace that was subsidized by their home country against America. This has been validated in several articles run in the WT. Times. So your blaming Sen Aubertine for the lose of jobs when you guys don't even know, how, when or where its happening half the time. The rate of lose versus creation has more involved then Owens and Aubertine, who are the best job creators in the district. That Wal Street crowd isn't going to do a thing for the Middle-Class.

Skelos and Libous manufactured the coup and courted both Espada and Monserrate to the Republican side. Now Ritchie and her NYC crew want eveyone to forget about that? Wow, she is already one of them!

I remember that month long do nothing sit on their ass move move last yr orchestrated by Libous and Skelos and THEIR then partners Espada and Monserrate. These pricks are all in cahoots , they held us up for a month on THEIR coup, Spent $$ like drunken sailors , did absolutely NOTHING and NOW YOUYwant to put THESE guys back in control and send Patty to learn at THEIR knee Cmon Aubertine isn;t anything to rave about either , personally i thing he' is useless but at least he wasn't part of that gang o

No maybe your right we could better spend our timecalling up Hank Paulson crowd from Bush W fame and see if he could get another Trillion or so out of our treasury to bail Wall Street Mortgage lenders out. Sorry I forgot how you guys like to spend your time.

I will vote for him just on the Ogdensburg Correctional issue. Thanks Darrell, Thanks Addie, Thanks Mr. Nelson, Thanks Chuck Kelly and the people and familys of Ogdensburg Thank you Thank you Thank You.....

Hey MMM if they can state they created jobs with their policies then when we lose jobs can we blame them???

Anonymous said...

I am amazed how Ritchie's ads imply that SHE single-handedly stopped the license plate issue and we all know that's not true!

Also, her ads say she will "stand up for us" .... yeah right .... no one knows what she stand for now because she won't answer any questions or explain her positions on any issues.

I FIRMLY believe voting for Ritchie would be a BIG mistake for the north country because she is totally clueless on important issues.

Anonymous said...

Voting for Richie gives the North Country over to Long Island and Skelos interests NOT ours -- IMO he's calling the shots for the candidate

Anonymous said...

As if aubertine is a good champion for the area? I mean he did cast the deciding vote for the prison census bill. Backed huge subsidies for the NYC film industry and the NYC subway system bailout all while raising our taxes. Great job!

Anonymous said...

es the truth is Both are really less than able dammit we deserve better candidates -- Neither is the RIGHT choice unfortunately -- what a damn shame

Anonymous said...

Darrel saving jobs what a joke over 2,2oo jobs lost in the north county from august 2009 to 2010.How do you explain that Darrel. That alot of jobs. But you claim you save and create jobs.

Anonymous said...

Darrel has proven he has no ethics or scrupols, he should hire some more relatives who will lie for him more!

Oburg said...

If the a newspaper article mentions a job Darrel will have a photo opt and his name in print. Legislators do not create jobs and the jobs he saved are the ones his fellow NYC democrats tried to cut.

NYC wanted OCF closed then add dorm closures moving inmate population to the city and NNY is getting the hose. I would accept a prison closure or dorm closures if it was equal across the state. NOT THE CASE!

It is NNY against NYC and DA is one of them 95% of the time.

You people should talk to the people of Cape Vincient he is not liked at all, he will not win in his home town.

Anonymous said...

That's only because Cape Vincent is tearing itself apart about windspinners. They want the money and the power but the people who don't own land don't want to see them so they make up stories about heart attacks and ADDHDDT and noise. I love it. Lyme is now in competition for making a bigger fool of itself. Neck and neck it is.

My solution is to dig big holes and put them underground, then pipe the wind down to 'em. We can paint WILEY on the part that shows.

Bottom line is, you got yer schools. You can never, ever give enough money to a school teacher. A billion dollars a classroom wouldn't be enough. They would want more next year. You got yer poor folks who don't own land. They will never want it because they will never benefit from it. They you got your rich guys who own all the land. They will get rich. The final score is 2-1. You will get windspinners all over the place. But only after the lawyers get through bilking the taxpayers with endless delays and bs meetings so people can vent. Thanks for letting have fun. I really care about you people who are sincerely trying to sort this out.

I wonder what Middle Class Mike will do when the election is over and He moves back downstate. Will He continue to read this blog? What do payed operatives do in the off season?

Anonymous said...

There is no way he is a paid operative. He is too stupid, so no one would ever pay him to do so poorly at making his case.

I can't speak as to what Chinese monetary policy did to our paper mills but I do know that the Carolinas have a thriving growing paper manufacturing industry in their states.

The difference is that they do not have a majority of voters that think like Mike.

As for windmills, lets put them five miles from shore. with 1200 square miles of land surely five miles can be spared. That way the 25 percent of the economy from tourism will not drop off. I mean lets be real the tourists are coming here for the waterfront not to visit watertown. In fact put them all over Thomson park and on top of city hall. Is Smith already working on that???

BTW...I noticed you can see the canuck windmills from Thomson park. Channel seven needs to update their video.

Anonymous said...

Regarding the windmills, aside from the fact that they are a bad idea simply from a source of "green" power, it is clear to anyone who looks into Aubertine's role:

1. Aubertine had secret contracts with the wind companies.
2. He voted on legislation that would prevent his farm-land from getting re-assessed after the million dollar structures were on it.
3. He wrote a letter on 6/15/2006 encouraging the town officials to ignore their conflicts of interest - conflicts that a 4th grader could spot a mile away. These are the very same officials in TODAY'S paper who are saying the town should pay for a lawyer because the Attorney General is going to interview them.
4. Aubertine hasn't addressed this publicly at all - he knows he's cooked on this.

These are all very serious, flagrant violations of ethics, regardless of your stand on wind energy.

These are all commonly held facts. If anyone wants me to link to the evidence, I'd be happy to.

I should add, in response to whoever said that "They want the money and the power", that Cape did an economic study that was published within a week, showing that less than 4% will get lease money out of this deal...

Anonymous said...

I've been disappointed in Ritchie's campaign. Vague on the issues, dodging in debates, and avoiding the media.

Nonetheless, aubertine's actions with regard to wind companies were unethical, to say the least. There is really no defending it. Albany is a cesspool of corruption and anyone who is unethical needs to be thrown out of office. It's the only way anything will change.

Anonymous said...

I am voting against Aubertine but I would defend him on the windmills.
It's his property he can do with it as he pleases. If the people on the board have an interest in wind then so be it.
It would be hard to find an issue that someone on some board does not have an interest in one way or another. If they didn't have an interest then on what grounds would they make their voting decision???

The reason to get rid of Darell is not about ethics its about the party he is a part of and has to cater to.

Anonymous said...

UGH i can't vote for either of these two slugs !

KC said...

Anon 1:13,
"It's his property he can do with it as he pleases."

Seriously? I mean, seriously? You've heard of zoning laws, right?

The very reason for these laws is precisely because we can't do whatever we want with our land.

If I were your neighbor, how would you feel about me opening an old auto salvage yard, a shooting range, a stock car track, an amusement park, an airport, a drive-in theater, a hog farm, a rendering plant -- or a bunch of other things your neighbor might want to do with his land but can't because laws and regulations won't let him.

Either way, right now in Cape Vincent, there exists the most basic, textbook examples of this corruption, right in the Senator's hometown. So flagrant the Attorney General is investigating as we speak.

The most disgusting part is that Aubertine wrote the board members telling them to ignore their conflicts of interest. And of course, no one knew he had contracts back then...

He's probably the biggest reason they're in this mess right now.

All you have to do is Google "Aubertine Letter to the board" to see for yourself:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/37294354/Senator-Aubertine-Letter-to-Town-Board-About-Voting-Wind-Issues

Anonymous said...

Of course I have heard of zoning laws. The point is that the philosophy is out there that people should be able to use their land as they see fit within reason. And people that subscribe to that way of thinking do not think detracting from the neighbors view or a few birds dieing is a reasonable cause for infringing on property rights.

Seriously...seriously...you have heard of libertarians?

KC said...

Wind energy is not just about dead birds, and visual pollution. A true libertarian would take serious issue with the massive government subsidies they get, right?

Regardless of your political views, his behavior is completely unethical, beyond question.

MobyDick says he will vote for Aubertine for saving the OCF alone...Are you kidding me?! Did you know tha Patty Ritchie is the one the spearheaded the campaign against the closure of OCF with Mayor Nelson, and once she did that Aubertine jumped in, took all the credit, and all these people thanking him like he is a god makes me sick because I know how it started, and how Patty was then shunned from any action that she took to save that prison--she was there every step of the way til the end! The only reason Aubertine took up to the the saving of OCF is because Patty was the initial one that started it and he didn't want to lose votes because he knew that would happen.I can tell you right now if Aubertine wasn't running for senate this year, he wouldn't have been fighting for the OCF and it would be closing! Are all of you people that clueless??!!

Anonymous said...

Like I said, Cape Vincent is tearing itself up about windmills. And here we see another set of examples. I drove from Lyme to CV to Clayton and up to the Bay this afternoon. I commend all you folks from Cape who are so dedicated to zoning laws and the beauty of your area. You're a credit to your community. But I have one itsy question. How do you justify the seven million single wide trailers you have placed along that beeeautiful river of yours? You have more than any other community by far, and most are placed right along the road, some within a few feet of each other. Most must have historical value as I'm sure they date to the 1950's, and the funny this is this, no one is there right now. Is that because they are occupied by folks from out of town? And right in front of all that million dollar real estate, serviced by 22nd century septic tank service, are Canadian Wind Spinners. At least I think I see 'em. Do you guys get paid for having to see these things in FRONT of you? Cause as I see it you will make money on the one's that will be behind you. This is all so confusing. But you can take pride, you Cape Vincent folks. Lyme has postponed their decisions about 14 times now, so you're still in first place when it comes to the Weird Community Award Contest. Those trailers are stunningly beautiful. Thank God for zoning laws.
