Patty Sails Through Debate...Aubertine Looks for an Opening

I guess the exchange was heated Friday morning in the State Senate debate as Senator Darrel Aubertine took a stab at flushing out opponent Patty Ritchie, but we won't see it for a full week. The taped debate will air next Friday.
Some of my media friends get mad at me for saying it, but thats bizarre. It's not even news by then.
News accounts describe the event as "icy" with Mr. Aubertine trying to pierce the veil of platitudes that is the Ritchie campaign and Ms. Ritchie trying to hold Mr. Aubertine accountable for the Senate coup and the antics of members of his caucus.
This is the first and last televised confrontation between the pair and the damage to the Ritchie campaign is minimal. A week old tape of a debate will attract no audience and its not like it becomes "news" again next Friday.
Most insiders say this is about a six point race in favor of Ms. Ritchie and with two more weeks of brutal ads raking Albany's Democrats, there is not much that will change that.
The Aubertine campaign is hoping the media will somehow point out that the Ritchie campaign is a cipher with no plan for addressing area issues. That's not the media's job, it's the candidate's.
It could be a majority of voters don't want a plan, they want change...Anything other than what has happened the past two years.

I watched the Doheny Owens debate. Someone should tell PBS their video quality stinks. Jeff did a good job.

I was leaning for Doheny and am now solidly supporting him. Doheny is right. On the votes that really impact us, Owens is right there with Pelosi and Company. Time for a change.

On ther Ritchie debate. I am supporting Patty. There is nothing Aubertine can do or say to make me change. If Mangione thinks he can convince us in a press release that Darrel can think three dimensionally he probably can make more money selling ice to the eskimos

Hope everyone needs to get out and vote.

Patty Ritchie stands for the integrity of the people. She has worked tirelessly in the past ten years for the people. She cares and is honest. She stands up for what is wrong and not afraid to do so. Unfortunately, Mr. Aubertine has been a puppet for the Dems since he took office. It is sad on a certain level. But that is the political game that promotes corruption and power. The system has been like this for years and I am not sure it will ever change unless the people stand up to it. We are in trouble folks and the rest of the world just sits back and watches our dysfunction. We are no longer the world leader. Our New York State government has not taken care of the consituents as a whole. New York City and Long Island should become another state because that is exactly how they act. Where will we be in five, ten or twenty years? It is sad. We need change!

"It could be a majority of voters don't want a plan, they want change..."

Jesu, doesn't change involve planning too? Is that why North Country politics is stuck in reverse?

Anonymous said...

817 - we're stuck in reverse because we keep sending back idiotic politicians like Darrel Aubertine, Addie Russell and Dede Scozzafava.

Thank G-d, come January none of them will be in Albany...its time for a clean sweep.

Hey 817, Darrel and Addie are a change. Before them it was a century and a half of Repubs. "R" is for reverse.

I thought Doheny was very arrogant as he debated..he looked a little like a caged animal when he was confronted with his position on the privatization of social security. Instead of acknowledging his previous statements he denies ever saying anything differently. Is it blatant lying or selective amnesia?

Aubertine Ritchie and Doheny are all puppets of their dysfunctional parties. There isn't an ounce of brains or a smidgen of KNOW HOW among the 3 of these hapless trio -- we are doomed until we get INTELLIGENT and Strategic Thinkers to run . The North Country will continue to be a wasteland REGARDLESS of which of this HAPLESS 3 put their snout in the public trough. Its a case of being GOFERS for the LONG OSLAND greed hog Republican Leadership who by the way were in bed with Espada and Monserrate and HEL US UP for a month or being The Gofewr for the Corrupt NYC DEMS -

This is akin to deciding whether one wants to choose between a cancer or a heart attack -- NYS IS COOKED , DONE. STICK A FORK IN IT , SEEN ITS BEST DAY , HEADED FOR
3RD TIER STATUS --

CORRUPTION AND POLITICS WAS THE AGENT OF THIS DOWNFALL - CONGRATULATIONS NY -- YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN !

I laugh over Aubertine's spokesman press release talking about the future. Hey what about the last 8 years?

Here is what I say to Mr. Aubertine:
1. Having a grasp on the issues and doing something about them are two distinct actions.
2. Do we have to wait another 8 years for you to reign in spending and lower taxes?
3. The Senator wants praise from businesses and business groups then he ought to take a lesson in economics lower businesses tax burden and they will create jobs. He doesn't get it though!

He claims he has a plan - after 8 years he should be claiming how his plan is working.

Who was that talk up doll at the debate? Almost everytime he was asked a question he came out and said, "I live on High Street" not Wall Street,' High Street" not Wall Street,High Street" not Wall Street?' Doheny didn't want to talk about WALL STREET! Or, Nancy Pelosi, Nancy Pelosi, Nancy Pelosi, I guess thats how Mark Barie gets you ready to debate. Doug Hoffman must be glad he doesn't have to sit and talk with Dohenyor Barie anymore.

Dohney is arrogant and it comes through pretty thick. Ritchie is stuffy and angry and nasty.

A six point lead for Ritchie is far from insurmontable for Aubertine.

Anonymous said...

A lead at all is not good for Aubertine being the incumbant.

it doesn't matter they are both Intellectually challenged-- NNY loses BIG Time either way -- bend over

Middle-Class Mike said...

Is this like the 14pt lead Matt Doheny had, or what? Just asking, are we really talking reality here?
I know Mr. Juston doesn't thinkpolls matter anyway, but I have to admit I'd like to know where this race is real time.

I've said it in the blog and to Mayor, I'm a volunteer for Mr. Aubertine. Frankly, I want the ticket to sweep, I've said that to the Mayor as well when he asked me about it.

The first thing they need to do is get you a spell check. The second thing you'll need is a mind of your own. But on second thought as long as you're rootin' for a party line victory you won't be needing that.

You wouldn't make it in a classroom, even if they schmuck up a job for you. Kids are pretty sharp.

Spell check this, Republicans have no future in NY23rd because of people like you and the message you send.

Anonymous said...

How can one be middle class with no job? On second thought, here in Donkeyland, you probably do better than most people who work.

What message is that? I don't have my thoughts together well enough to have a message. Let's just keep electing the same ol' to office here in NYS and continue to tax and spend and lie about it. It's the only way, eh Mikey?
