Carl Paladino said something to Bill O'Reilly that makes sense....He said this is the first time he has run for anything and that may explain the erratic nature of his public statements including the horrific back and forth over infidelity that led to the Dicker dust up.
For a 64 year old businessman used to being in charge of his own destiny, this must be a trip. There are lots of checks and balances in politics...some of which lead to the homogenization of the people running....Paladino is raw politics without the correctness and diplomacy.......
We have to decide if thats what we want or if we want our leaders packaged for easy consumption.
Paladino has no remorse over the Battle of Bolton Landing

I’m voting for this guy.
But I don’t buy the “used to being in charge” excuse.
You are a businessman. You know you are used to being at the whim of the nanny state.
As a businessman, you have to get used to being diplomatic even more than in a nine to five job.
Everyone tells you what to do…
Your lottery license people
Your liquor authority
The sign police
The fire inspector
the building inspector
The vendor that claims his trademark requires you to buy his brand of energy drink to make your adult beverages with.
That check you sent in early that never came back for your cigarette license.
The smoking police and your smoke room
The health department
The FDA
The DOT
The DEC
The equal employment opportunity police
The labor department
Your customers.
And your customers’ lawyers.
Huh?

We need someone who understands why businesses leave or never start in, NY
11:44,
Thanks for pointing out the bigger more important picture contained in my post. But I was addressing the point Graham keeps making about Carl being abrasive because he is used to being large and in charge.
The fact is that a businessman usually spends a lot more time taking orders than giving them. Whether it is trying to get a DOT permit for a driveway too close to I81 or trying to get his retail business in the Empire zone or fending off a discrimination lawsuit from one of his employees or a trip and fall lawsuit from one of his customers….you have to be nice or things can be much much harder on you.
Graham knows this because he experiences it both as a businessman and as an elected official that gets lobbied by businessmen. And when someone like keven free comes in demanding instead of with hat in hand…it don’t go very far.
Mayor would you consider doing a show or two leading up to election where people trying to learn more about Politics could just ask questions about the Political Process that they want to understand better. I posted this question recently and received some great replies by people. See one example below:
Political Pundit has posted an answer to the question "Why is it that people running for office and want to lead, so often act like followers":
I'm sure the newbies to Congress as well as state legislatures feel they need to mind their Ps and Qs in order to have a chance to be heard. I'm sure there are power struggles within parties once inside a chamber and particularly newly elected politicians don't want to rock the boat.

I'm off my thorazine and I'm mad as hell.
That thorazine crack gets funnier and funnier every time you post it. {sigh}
Thanks for the help, 11:44. I would never have figured it out on my own. Are you sure that's what he meant? You said it so much more clearly. Its hard to believe it took all that to say so little.
Carl has the guts to speak his mind; we need that in government.Someone needs to be in charge, and I like what Carl has been saying. No more pussy-footing around with some of these shady characters; that goes for both parties.
I would never have figured it out on my own.
11:44 that is not exactly a revelation for those who read your posts.
Anon: not everyone is as smart as you. That's the thing about you Doheny people, your so smart; your smart Up-State attacking the little guy like me, and your smart down state helping load trucks full of money into your bank accounts on Wall Street, but right your on my side. How could anyone but the Rich vote for you guys?
But weather you are smart or dumb or in between, most anyone can recognize when they suck at something and make the decision to get help. You suck at life and by extrapolation at making the right political choice. As dumb as you are, you are still smart enough to know that. Feel free to ask one of us smart guys for guidance in the voting booth anytime.
It comes down to this...you can look for people like Nancy/owens or Castro to provide for you, or you can eat the table scraps at the feet of us rich guys, and some day maybe realize the American dream.
Hint: the Cuban dream...doesn't have a good reputation and our pets eat better than the average Cuban.
