The Mood Suggests Its Doheny's To Lose

Sometimes insight and a little information can lead to a conclusion or two....
In the NY23 race, I get the feel from the commercials so far and from the attitudes of the principles that Doheny has an edge...Plus all the national buzz is that the GOP will pick up a lot of seats (maybe 60) and if there is that kind of anger, Doheny benefits.
Today the Alex Bay native picked up the endorsement of the state's preeminent conservative daily, the NY Post. Little has come out of the Hoffman camp and any Doheny win depends on that continuing.
My hunch is even with Hoffman grabbing a dozen or so points, Doheny is up by high single digits...If Hoffman folds, it would be a rout.

I don't know, I think Doheny's Wall Street ties and Hoffman being on the ballot will hurt him. Owens will get a lot of votes in the Plattsbrugh-Saranac Lake-Malone area where Doheny did poorly.

Mayor, you are so far off on this, you will look beyond foolish.

Hoffman is not smart enough to fold.

Doheny on the Live @5 show was bragging about an endorsement from Grover Norquist, who for those who cheer for Doheny, should recall that Norquist's group, Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) was involved in allowing Jack Abramoff to funnel money back and forth to lobbyists (in order to try and hide the money deals) - as reported by a Senate committee.

Norquist says he did nothing wrong. Abramboff in in prison BTW and Dohney is happy to get their endorsement . . . who's next: the Klan? Certainly no Indian groups I suspect - since Abramoff ripped them off, too.

Shows me that old Matt is not too informed, or if he is, doesn't care about Norquist's connections to Abramoff??

This is the same crap we hear all the time.. Doheny people influence the mayor and the mayor spins these kind of bs articles. The reality is Doheny squeaked out a victory on a very unpopular opponet. Read into this a little. If Hoffman stays in the race Doheny loses period exclamation point etc. If Hoffman drops out Doheny has a chance.. Even with all the hatred out there one can see that Owens has done a reasonable job. Of course this will be followed by Owens/Pelosi but think about it folks.. A millinalre tring to buy the eleciton. A millionaire that sent American jobs overseas, A Millionaire that let 500 or more hard working Americans go down the tubes, to insure a enormous bonus for himself and fellow Wall St cronies.. Your turn Owens/Pelosi

I still think that Owens will pick up alot of the anti hoffman republicans..I think that the mayor underestimates Owens popularity...

Rep. Owens is a moderate Democrat whose policy views are more similar to the views former NY 23 Representatives John McHugh and Bob McEwen than the conservative, Tea Party-supported, policies of Mr. Doheny are. I don't recall a NY23 Representative as conservative as Mr. Doheny. I think he still has work to do, but Mr. Owens needs to work too.

Doheny is gay...er I mean...a womanizer...vote for Nancyboy Owens.
Hate the rich? Me too!

If Matt Doheny wins this electionthe vote I'll never blog again. I'll never have a political opinion again, The Mayor is having a bad day pushing this silliness. Doheny has no chance. On the Glenns show he asked for 4 debates, as in I'll debate anywhere. Well it appears Mr Owens can't find the time to talk to someone never in uniform.

Voting my consience, Hoffman, Paladino. Don't care what anyone else thinks. Tired of the party line crap. Hasn't done crap for us lately.

Middle-Class Mike said...

Tong vote your consience, who can argue with such logic. That's all I'm saying about Doheny. Service to your Country. A minor point according to some, but to others an important indicator of the difference between Bill Owens, Doug Hoffman and Matt Doheny. Bill Owens and Doug Hoffman served their country by joining the Military, before going for all the money they might earn in private life. Matt Doheny, never seemed to find the time to join the service, true he earned a lot of money on Wall Street.. In this District, service matters, in the special way that comes from knowing so many soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. I play chess with some. They have families and children that need them, but they risk everything to ensure all our safety. I think people who serve are special, and I want to thank all of you for your service to our Country.

60? Really? I'll have what the mayor is smoking. The GoTeaP peaked a tad early. When real voters returned from their summer snooze they tended to trend Dem. That trend hasn't changed. 60? The races are closer than that and Owens wins 23.

Anonymous said...

The Mayors right on this one Folks. Doheney will win and by a good margin. The Dems Polling must show it, that's why Owens has gone negative. Plus The Dems are still trying to use the Hoffman card to split the GOP vote.

Anonymous said...

I'm not a party hack or even a party member but as independent as one can be BUT i see Owens pulling this out rather easily he'll carry His END of the district and Poll well in ST Lawrence county IN The Canton , Potsdam , Massena and Oburg markets

Owens has the NRA endorsement. Score one for Owens. Doheny didn't respond to the NRA questionare. Score one agaisnt Doheny no matter how pro-gun he says he is. Owens voted for Obamacare. That is not the vote of a moderate. That is the vote of a Pelosi outer fringe, big government liberal yes-man. Score one GREAT BIG KING SIZED against for Owens. Doheny gets my vote by the slimmest of margins. My heart is with Hoffman, but I don't think he has the finished skills to be effective against the current pack of Jackals and Traitors in D.C.

9:27am,
You are spot on about your assessment of the current residents of Washington. It's a good thing for them that nobody is ever prosecutesd for treason these days, because 90% percent of those in Washington would be spending their life in prison or be stood in front of a firing squad!

Anonymous said...

I think we were right about the primary.
We said that Doheny going negative was proof he was losing.
We said that Doheny had the money to commission polls so he must be.

We said that we don't know who is going to win but it looks like Hoffman. It sounds like Hoffman would have won if the primary were held a week or two earlier.

So in the final game it looks similar.
Owens has the money to poll so probably has.
Same goes for Doheny.
Owens went negative so he probably thinks he is losing.
Doheny has not gone negative so he probably thinks he is winning.
And since the whole race can turn on a dime, in the last two weeks, it really doesn't mean much yet.

I have absolutely no idea who is going to win but I will state the obvious, that if Hoffman gets a big percentage it comes from Doheny's share and that will cost him the race.

If Hoffman dropped out I think Doheny would win comfortably...whatever that means.

Middle Class Wine ass:you should not be so bitter toward Mr.Doheny, you were so on his side and then he wins, beating a guy that needed to be beat if I should say,you tried to push your voice around as a tool to get yourself a job.It didnt work out so you go around talking about why all the sudden you don't agree with Mr.Doheny on the issues and you were totaly wrong Give me a friggen break go and ask Bill Owens for a job...then please tell us why you dont like him sorry things didnt work out for you "stop the cry baby bull shit....

Middle-Class Mike said...

Hi Juston, don't worry about it buddy, I'm personally set. Anyway I won't forget you welcoming me warmly to the blog. I'm giving you an exclusive here. I was told by one of Matt's key guys, (I'll never give the guy up) I don't operate that way, that Matt doesn't like hiring anyone that isn't young. He wants you to hear it once and node your head. Older guys worry him. I said, no problem I'll node my head :). Anyway, I've gone to a lot of people for jobs lately. Ever since the 'Bush People' Hank Paulson, and the like gave the National Economy away to 'Goldman Sachs' and lets not forget guys like Matt Doheny who put out 'buy orders' with Bank of America, for "Country Wide Mortgages' the toxic bundling king of the mortgage meltdown. That was oh so smart of them wasn't it?
Lastly, seeking work has dignity in it, getting personal and calling me out, in this out of the blue fashion has none at all.

Anyway who woke you up and pointed you at me? To Funny. Things are getting interesting in North Country Politics.

Juston's Take On Government said...

Lastly seeking work honestly has dignity, not seeking work trying to bost someone elses name its called name dropping. When it does not work out for you,Then that means you can piss all over there parade I think thats hollow and a big sighn of who the person realy is.If I was u and im not thank God I would say im sorry for your berating of him simply becouse you realy dont know the guy yet,you have gone to bat for him one day and the next you are cutting his throat .....GMAFBreak

Juston give me a break, pusuing enlightened self interest is what America is about. Stay out of my biz. Get your butt out there and get him elected, I'll do my thing you do yours.

Besides Doheny is going down for the count in this election for a lot of reasons. If I worked for the guy, he'd be in touch with those reasons. What can I say, I'm sorry for changing my mind when a guy is caught up in not wanting to hire a guy my age. I'l go where I'm wanted. Its not a crime. Now moving right along,

I'd like to change the topic.
I've been reading some history here. The question my brothers and I are arguing out is wheather or not 'Erwin Rommel' was at the
1st battle of Kasserine Pass, where Americans suffered severe numbers of casualties in 1943, I say he was, they say he had been recalled, anyway, I think I'm right. I think I'm right here too, you need to go to sleep.

The good news for you is Doheny is a big boy and can pull his own weight in this election campaign. The good news for me is I believe I'm backing the better man. As the Mayor points out, thats what makes a horseraces. Now I'm going to sleep.

Wow, this debate is better than most. Juston's doing better with his spelling, And MCM it's getting cold out time to put on your "Barclay for Assembly" jacket that was supplied to you.

Anonymous said...

Doheny hired Cary Brick, if that's not hiring the elderly I am not sure what is. Juston, you profess to be a "values" voter but your language and your wagging tongue are inconsistent with the principles you espouse.

Juston's Take On Government said...

What values are you talking about I profess to be?not something im not like you Anon2:28"wagging tongue" you say, your tongue can be your worst tool or your best tool. At times its both for all of us, who are you on values and please profess to all your definition.I will try hard with the potty mouth just for you....LMAO

Anonymous said...

Ya don't hate on Juston becouse he is not for Gay marriage..Is that what your post is about 2:28?Are those the values that your mad at Juston for?Wow this must be about that little Brian guy...

Anonymous said...

MMM, don't be lecturing anyone about spelling. You've clipped a couple yourself lately. And if something is "to funny" use two o's.

No matter how you slice it, Owens bends over to Pelosi and Owens gave us a health care bill that will kill us. He also lied about the input he received about that health care bill from the voters of this district, telling us the feedback was evenly split. It wasn't. Owens/Pelosi has to go.

Anonymous said...

Mad? Must be a Republican...and my observation has absolutely nothing to do with any election. I do read parts of the Mayor's blog and I really don't care what Juston thinks...he is entitled to his own beliefs. I just find it a bit ironic that he cares about "family values" and then lets the f bomb fly. When you point your finger at others and pass judgement there are always a few fingers pointing back at you.

Middle-Class Mike said...

I never lecture about spelling, my wireless keyboard is lagging behind my typing and it leaves letters out, etc. Fix Tomorrow! Besides Spell Check' is for La mo's. And statements like that are for La mo's. Hey Juston, why don't you lecture Mr. Barie, and UNYTEA? Mark Barie, the find me another candidate in Doheny so I can sit at the table and divide the spoils of victory; because why should I be loyal to Doug Hoffman even if I seek donations in his name. Especially if he's going to need support in a tight race. Mark Barie sold him out before the votes are in during a primary! Terrific letter in paper by a 'Shelia Drew of Watertown -'Letters From The People'- and I want to give her credit for it. The people will vote and decide this, and the people aren't going to be intimidated by the likes of Jutson or the 'Tea-Party.' And lets be fair, a lot of Tea-Party people aren't into this negative stuff! Insulting people isn't their thing and they don't like it. Get over yourself Jutson and stop acting like you guys are Saints when all you do is smear good people with feces! I'l pray for you Jutson.

Who was Juston pointing fingers at MMM?I believe he was stating the facts,MMM was the guy pointing fingers at Mr. Doheny for not giving him a Job.Then you here him talk about how great Owens is and how he is going to mop up Doheny.Juston has done some good things.I know of a few he is not one to toot his own horn.As far as the F word goes,he grew up in the hood across from Jeans Beans go figure.I do know him I know one thing about him he cares about NNY the people are his concern. He is not running for office he helps out around the community and always speaks out for the ones who have no representation.I was wondering Middle Class Mike what have you done to give back weather it be your local church pantry, funding for boys clubs, have you been involved in saving millions of dollars in school funding or how about Mercy Hospital did you write letters call the local reps and express your concerns?if you did where you expecting a job?Have you ever carried petitions for political office?all of the above are good deeds.I will agree Juston needs to work on his potty mouth.Lets here about what you are working on MMM to help the people around You...

I'm trying to get a 'Democratic' team elected that cares about Middle Class needs. The number one need I can wrap my head around is the 'Need for the Middle Class to have more disposable income' and on that point I have never and will never relent. So what are you doing besides being Juston's pal?

Anonymous said...

Mikey says he's concerned about the disposable income of the middle class. The reason the middle class has been hurting is they are the ones who are left out of all the tax breaks. The 50% who pay nothing pay nothing, while those workers you care about so much pay dearly. But the class warfare thing works so well its tough not to keep up the bs, isn't it, you party line piece of Donkey crap.

That was funnn.

If you going to get it --get it right, your hero Juston attacked me out of the blue at 1:30AM in the morning and accused me of something stupid like that, but the point was I told him it was none of his business. The next day he went on and I said goget his butt in gear and try to get his candidate elected, which he won't, and when sappy Matty falls down the big electoral hole, I want all of you to fall in it too. Now that was fun. Just don't cry on my shoulder when Doheny loses, you guys take NRCC poling seriously, you must be oh so feeble of mind and spirit.
