Koch Rails Against Addie in Exclusive HOTLINE Interview

Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch says Assemblywoman Addie Russell is an enemy of reform and deserves to be defeated on Tuesday. Mayor Koch was on the HOTLINE today where he talked about New York UpRising, a non-partisan group pushing legislative and redistricting reform.
Hizzoner is supporting Republican David Forsythe.
Mr. Koch declined to call Ms. Russell a "bum" even though his ads do suggest throwing the bums out.
Assemblywoman Russell called and said the former Mayor has a downstate agenda and that she is in fact willing to consider reform measures on an a la carte basis.
Mayor Koch also talked about the 1977 mayoral race where the campaign of then foe Mario Cuomo is said to have circulated the slogan "Vote for Cuomo, not the Homo," a reference to Koch' unmarried status. Mr Koch says he believes son Andrew was not part of the smear, then in a wry way said "but we will never know."
I did ask him "How am I Doin'? and he seemed to enjoy the reference to his favorite slogan.

Throw the bum out. She fails to recognize the tourism and sportsman potential of our great area. Turning us into New York's Energy Valley and causing millions of dollars of devaluation of the homes of thousands of River district citizens is a disgrace.

I see Koch is still an asshat.

Koch like Doheny has been labeled a homo.. Nothing has ever surfaced to actually prove the fact about Koch but now McGrath has stepped up and took that kind of nonsence away from people. Peoples lifestyles are theirs and somewhat private however I cannot stomach such...
The reality is Koch is an old eight five year old man that lives in his own era. His ideas are from his era and his approach to this has been a circus.. He however does share on thing with some of us and thats a reform of somethings. A pledge is not the way to go about it.. Its worthless and a waste of time and its the only thing Addies opponent has going for him.. In the end Addie Russell will come through again as she always does for NNY.. Her opponent wants all this change and reform why hasnt he stepped up in his legislature job .

Koch can go shit in his hat. Pledges are stupid: They are either so broad as to be useless, or so narrow as to be too restricting. There are nuances to all issues and a pledge cannot even come close to addressing them all.

There are several things I disagree with Russell about, but this time she is spot on: deal with the issues one at a time.

He is Sharp, I will give him that.
But this crusade of his is offensive to me...and I am in favor of reform.

I can only imagine that it alienates the moderates more than it does me, so he is harming the cause more than helping it.

I think Addie is way too far left and needs to be ousted. But who the hell is Koch to demand people sign something or else declare them an enemy of reform? Personally, the word reform scares the hell out of me after watching Obama and the left use it in place of the word ruin.
Reform healthcare means ruin health care.
Financial reform means financial ruin.
Reform immigration means ruin immigration.

Koch supports Cuomo so Koch is an enemy of reform. Cuomo is no more going to truly reform anything than Obama has, because at heart he is a liberal ideologue.

Addie can go shit in hers! Don't give me this crap that she doesn't sign pledges. If Shelly Silver told her to sign a pledge she would be on her knees awaiting his word. She so full of herself it isn't funny. Furthermore, I haven't seen ANY advancement in the north country since she's been in. Who is kidding who! Lastly, Mayor Koch has more knowledge in his little finger than Addie has in her oversized-body.

Good one 3:45.

A lot of s##tting going on around here. Koch is making his decisions about Addie Jenne Whatever based on her RECORD. She has a proven history of licking Thug Shelly's boots on command. She loves tax increase, spending of all kinds, has has little regard for personal freedom. She's another lawyer who doesn't understand or respect the Constitution. If you're a teacher, a government employee, or you receive your check in the mail from taxing the work efforts of your fellow citizen, then by all means, vote Addie Jenne Whatever.

Just another go-along, get-along, don't rock the boat rubber stamp. Just what we need.

Well, as the Captain of Red October once said, "that could be useful when the time comes."

Maybe Addie Jenne Whatever can get us more Free Stuff. My guess is Sheldon will have her picking up the trash, until her vote is needed.

Our own Mayor Graham admitted in gentlemanly fasion that he himself would never sign such a pledge. As much as I love Mr. Koch, he was really heavy handed with this one. Mrs. Russell handled this situation with grace and magnificient aplomp. A NYC Mayor
promotes, 'New York UpRising,' a non-partisan group pushing legislative and redistricting reform. Mayor Koch was a welcome reminder of a NYC past that grows fainter every year. Of course, he's wrong on this one and we all know it. Mrs. Russell is absolutely right to say I will vote on each piece of legislation as it is presented and vote only after sound research and deliberation about the merits of the legislation in question. You could always tell Mayor Koch when he walked into a room at City Hall, but to be frank, you couldn't tell him much. The hypocracy here is plan to see, Mayor Koch would never have signed such a pledge himself. Why would Addie?

Because it would be start on real reform, when the Spitzer scandal surfaced Darryl Aubertine signed a pledge to be in bed by 10pm when he was in the capitol.

MCM So why did everyone else sign it? Did Darrell sign and why?

Anon 6:49AM Simpleton that I am, I'll put it in laymans terms for you. They were scared to death of going through what many members now sitting in Albany have been put through by the good former Mayor of NEW YORK CITY, Mayor Koch, the brass knuckle treatment. No one did it better then Koch. When you were on his enemies list, it was conforting to know your Visa was current, because he stopped at nothing as his treatment of Addie demonstrated yesterday.

After reading this site and the commentaries on this subject I have only one question and I will vote accordingly.... Did Dave Forsythe sign the mayors pledge? If he did hes stupid as he signed a worthless piece of paper.. I will vote for Addie based on this.

Annon 10:19 - Then if that's the case you are more of an idiot than any of them!!!! What a no-brain statement! Evidently, voting records and performance mean nothing.

Addie is part of the Albany problem. She doesnt hold a candle to Dede.

AJR needs to go, before she gets more money for John Burns.

You have to admit Sherif Burns is a cool guy. I don't think I'd ever play poker against him, he doesn't tip his hand, but he seems ready to deal with anything going down to me. :)

Mikey, think. Burns has such a hugh advantage he doesn't have to do much of anything to win. I support him too, but don't be a dumbass about it. You sound like a cheerleader going nuts when her team is ahead by 50 points. In other words, you sound like a clown, again.

Both AJR and Burns need to stay away from the buffets.

It was the first thing I said about the guy. Give me a break. The only thing, one line dummy.
Yikes!
