Democrats and the media are having a field day ripping at Carl Paladino over his gay remarks in Brooklyn....In particular Mr.Paladino is upset over those gay pride parades where people dress and behave in a very provocative ways. In fact there was an example of such garb on Paladino's blog today and even in reproducing it, Liz had to censor it....Paladino says he wouldn't want kids to see this type of display...Is he wrong ?
Mr. Paladino says he has a live and let live attitude towards gays and has condemned discrimination. He says he opposes same sex marriage and has the same difficulties discussing the issues many have.
But gayness is one of those third-rail issues these days....Gay is the new black in the Democratic and media circles...
Besides...Jerry Brown's wife called GOP candidate Meg Whitman a "whore" in a phone call that was recorded....No outrage over that.
Mr. Paladino is guilty of saying things many people think but don't dare utter...He also has a discipline problem and cannot stay on message...The message is jobs, taxation and dysfunction in Albany.

This is what we've become. Live and let live is not enough. Living a life of open-mindedness and non-descrimination is not enough. On racial matters being color blind is not enough. One has to celebrate. They have to go public and tell all that they love gays, blacks, transgenders and all others who face challenges in an imperfect world. But what really bothers the liberals and the politically correct is the matter of guilt. Their entire premise is we have to feel guilty. Guilty about the past, guilty about the future, guilty about financial opportunities that are never going to be perfectly equal. What Carl is doing, by saying he ain't going to a gay parade, is saying he doesn't feel guilty. Nothing upsets a Dannie or an MMM more than that. The people who are getting regular checks from other taxpayers largely base that payment on guilt. Remove the guilt, and there isn't much basis for the special treatment. So the big question remains. How long do people want to feel guilty? When will it ever be enough to treat people like people, whether they are black, gay, red-headed, fat, or different in any way. It always amazes me that this game keeps going on forever. The people who profit on this shit will keep it going forever, if you let them. Its much better to talk about celebration of gays than it is to discuss the pending bankruptcy of the state of NY. Priorities. But then again you folks feel guilty so you are easily distracted.
Anon 3:31PM I'm sorry you feel that way, are you speaking for Republicans and Tea-buggers alike, or more or less for yourself. Its a pretty strong view your presenting here. "Right after live and let live," I was taught to try a little tenderness, its always served me well
I was taught to treat people no differently than I treat other people. No special guilt. No special favors. No special fake love, hate, hand-shakes or high fives, no fake respect. Just treat people the way they deserved to be treated. And the way you in turn wanted to be treated. I never really had a personal quota on how I treated people. And I never cared what third parties thought. I never really worried about impressing them. Worked pretty well for me. I guess it doesn't set me up too well to run for political office. At least not on your party line.
I agree with 5:48PM. Treat people no differently than other people. If the government is going to sanction the union of a straight couple, then they should sanction the union of a same-sex couple.
5:48, I couldn't agree with you more. I feel the same strong support for Mr. Paladino; why people may ask, because Mr. Paladino has said things that need to be said. There far too many people who "think" the very same things as Carl does, but do not have the guts nor the courage, to say them. Even those who are in and/or running for office are in that same class as "think" the same, but it's appalling for them, because all they see is a vote. Enough of this political correctness "hogwash". As 5:48 said, "treat people as you would want to be treated, no special favors, no hidden agenda. If people start opening thier eyes, and ears, they will find that Carl Paladino, is no different than anyone else.I would want a Governor who will speak directly, honestly, and exactly what's on his mind;nothing phony about that. This is what scares the media and Albany, because they know he means business. Carl , take 3 bats to Albany, 1 for the Legislature, 1 for the phonies,1 in case you break one.
I agree with 6:12, the government should sanction the union of a same-sex couple...obviously he chose the word sanction instead of marriage because he respects the historical meaning of the word "marriage" and the concept of equal but different.
So Jeff, what is Jerry Brown's wife running for? Oh yeah, nothing and oh yeah, bad comparison.
I am voting for Carl.
I have to admit that all of the outrage is not feigned though especially this time around with the gay stuff.
But in spite of that, he still is the best shot at fixing this state and Cuomo is trouble with a Capital (not even close to Tea)
Carl can still count on My vote. The Key sentence that was all but ignored." Live and let live" He has no propblem with Gays just dosn't want to treat them special.
Carl is just voicing the sentiments of a lot of people. People who oppose same sex marriage obviously have a problem with homosexuality, even if they dont want to admit it. If they thought being gay was fine, why would they deny rights to gays that are available to straights?
While I disagree with many of the things he's said and done, I find Paladino's frankness refreshing in an age of waffling politicians who drone on and on without actually saying anything. Take Obama, he says accepting of gays, but opposes gay marriage. Either he's a bigot and doesnt want to admit it or he's lying about his stance on marriage.
6:33PM,
Actually, I meant sanction the unions of same-sex couples in the same exact way as unions for straight couples are sanctioned. That means using the same terminology (e.g. marriage) and, just like straight marriages, making them equally recognized no matter the state. As has been said multiple times in these comments, treat people no differently than other people.
So how do you feel about segregated restrooms? Like at the rest stops they have Men's rooms and women's rooms.
Should both sexes be allowed to use either restroom they please?
In a day of moral perversion, it is good to see someone standing up against Sodomites and their perverted ways.
"In a day of moral perversion, it is good to see someone standing up against Sodomites and their perverted ways."
As long as it doesn't include horse porn.
When Carl leads his daughters through a parade promoting horse porn then you will have a point. Until then...not so much.
Uh...Krazy Karl is the poster boy for perverts and sodomites.
