Aubertine: New Hilton Garden Inn to Bring 200 Construction, 80 Permanent Jobs to Watertown

Watertown's newest rebuke to the notion we are in recession came today as a $12 million dollar Hilton Garden Inn and conference center began to come to fruition with a groundbreaking at the Western Boulevard location. Developer Patrick Donegan was joined by an election year cavalcade of dignitaries.
From the city perspective we are pleased at Mr. Donegan's continued investment and in particular the 350 person conference center in the hotel. That will be a big plus.
The city is also moving ahead with improvements to the neighborhood sewer collection system and that will allow further development near the hotel.

What exactly did the dignitaries have to do with this building? Other than to be seen on Camera, was ted Ford there?

The dignitaries are the ones that tell the local guys who to give PILOTs to and how much city money to spend upgrading the sewer.

This kind of project is the result of the terror war, and the fact that we have an army base nearby. The construction and resulting jobs, which will number no where near what Darrell claims, is taking place despite the misguided taxing policies of our state. It is clear and simple puke for politicians to attempt to take credit for this small blip on our economic screen. Al Kaida is more of a cause than Sheldon Silver. I welcome the project. But let's keep things in perspective.

Darrel Aubertine created jobs, would like to see 10 jobs he actually created. He has jumped into every picture and has been making claims he can not support.

I can hardly believe the Hilton Family need Darrel's know how in making this Inn happen, lol. He has a shovel therefore he can take credit in the construction.

I agree with 6:37 this is a political puke and they are up to their necks in it.

Poly Info is so full of sh-- and he/she has her head so far up the GOP a== that he/she cant see the light of day.. She/he has commented in favor of Pat Ritchie who has acomplished absolutely nothing for the State of New York and cant even speak publicly without permission from her GOP bosses. Poly get a life.

Moby so much insight, maybe you could tell me what contribution Senator Aubertine made in helping the Hilton Family open another Conference Center. I would like you to list 10 jobs he created, he claimed he saved 100s of farms, there not 100s of farms in his district. He created Green Tech. jobs what was it Fly wheel technology, hey those jobs are all over the district.
He had Nothing to do with the construction (except that shovel full of dirt) of this Hilton and now his name is in the headlines with job creation. There will be jobs created but Aubertine had nothing to do with it. This is a bunch of crap, no it is bull crap.

Aubertine must be way behind in his own poll because he is throwing everything out there. He must think the people of his district are pretty stupid. The more money he throws out in the news the mader the people are getting. We the people see what Aubertine is doing it's wrong.

There is nothing worse than a grand opening at election time and Aubertine is at the front of line the pandering politicians.

He had zero to make this happen.

And someone said "do nothing Patty" well NNY was never so threatened then they have been with a Democratic control of the NYS Senate.

My vote is for Ritchie

This is the part of politics that turns my stomach. Taking credit for every job, every drop of rain, and even the sun coming up. At what point will the nose on these politicians start to grow.

Time to get rid of the same old, same old. This is the change we were hoping for. All we gained are some more taxes (4% on clothing), and a few more entrenched politicians looking to buy your vote.

Watch the CT U.S. Senate debate where the Democrat babbled about to create a job while the Republican answers it succinctly. Darrel should watch it. Government doesn't create jobs.

We can always depend on MMM to say somehthing stupid and irrelevant. This election may be your last change to get a teaching job. Keep up the mindless platitudes. NYSUT, the UNION OF PROFESSIONALS, just may reward you with a job if you carry enough water. Do you have school bus driving license?

Poly.. Ive prepared my list of what DArrell has done and what jobs have been created directely from his work.. You I will print it on this blog as soon as your report on Ritchie appears.. I,ll make yours easier however. List anything she has done relevant to creating permanent jobs in the district. What has she done for the people of Oswego and what has she said of any substance. Give me her positions on State incomeTaxes, job creation, property taxes, and the creation of an interstate hwy in the North Country.. Anything she is negative about tell me what she would do to resolve the issues. I never claim Mr Aubertine is perfect or different than other canidates in insinuating he did something good but as far as Ritchie goes she likes her picture taken.. She couldnt even support anyone for Governor.. Now she supports a Democrat..

Nice bluff anom 2:55, that would be like saying how many jobs DA created when he was a farmer which is more then he created in the Seanate. This is more about Mrs. Ritchie working for the ppl in her county. Expanding MVO offices throughout county, at the same time bring in more revenue to cover expenses and preventing tax increases, publicly denouncing illegals getting driver lics., and yes the lics plate issue. Minimize it as much as you want but the lics plate issue was targeted to NNY, NYC residents utilizes public transit systems. Someone going above and beyond, thinking outside the box, and not sit in her office playing it safe are characteristics I am looking for in a Senator.

Darrel is grandstanding and taking credit for job creation when he had absolutely nothing to do with the construction of the Hilton. Tell me how he created any of those jobs, that is the biggest crock. Mr. Aubertine has lost his integrity and continues to claim job creation. Anon 9:19 said it right Government does not create jobs. Increase taxes only destroy job creation and DA voted for all the increases, compound that with the current economic times.

I hope you are not using Darrel’s list, or mention the 100s of farms he saved. I am still trying to figure how he saved more farms than exist in his district and what he did to save them. Easy to say and grandstand, I just want to know HOW?

Hey, Mike just waking up, time to pick that check up. Supporting Senator Aubertine is supporting the very liberal dems in NYC. Mike keep up the good work and we will still be able to claim the Greatest State but only in Tax Collection.
