As an observer of county government, I can't help but wonder who would be the next County Legislature Chair should Ken Blankenbush get elected to the Assembly....I see Ken's prospects as 50-50, maybe a tad better depending on what happens from here on in.
There was a time four or five years ago when Scott Gray would be considered, but as the Legislature's most despised colleague, I don't see that happening.
Seems the one on the fast track is District 8 Legislator James Nabywaniec...He has been the point man on the County's nursing home initiative and seems to be the first among equals during lawmaker gatherings at local watering holes.
Mr. Nabywaniec comes from the district with virtually no voters because it is just about all contained on Fort Drum. He runs the "buy here, pay here" car lot called TimeBuyer...The one with the cute woman getting people to recite their slogan for fifty bucks.
He seems to have the right connections and if he is perceived as successfully closing the county adult home, that will be a talking point and a nexus for moving up the food chain.....
Legislators Mike Behling, Carolyn Fitzpatrick and Phil Reed are also possible contenders for the top slot on the Board.

50-50? McGrath been sending you plenty of Kool-Aid? the 10-20 twenty commenters on your site don't constitute a sampling of the district.
You must be a new member. Welcome.
So we're judging a company by what you heard? Sounds fair to me. I guess that's politics. Throw mud and see what sticks then wonder why we have so many Thugs in power.
Mayor Was this gentleman you refer to a trooper Nabywaniec
No
Ken's chances are less than 50-50.
I see his chances at 60-40, depending on the NYC lawyer vote turnout.
I would like to say I hope Ken wins to get him out of Jefferson County into a do nothing assembly minority seat but I hope McGrath wins because of Ken's record with wind and big spending. Again I will say I like what Gray is saying on the legislature he seems to be standing up to these guys.
Yeah that's a good idea, hope he wins get him out of the County Govt. Actually none of the legislators are "cut out" for the Chairmanship. To baby Naby is a shoe in, like years ago when the district was created for him, I mean he bought the house he lives in from a former aide to Jim Wright, so just connect the dots.
So what is McGrath's position on wind? I can't ell from reading his statement- on one hand...but on the other hand kind of stuff.
McGrath- No record...no position...no published history.
His position on wind will be the same as all Dems. They're for it all the way. They'll cite its clean, environmentally sound nature and the fact that it will lessen our dependence on foreign oil. Its the kind of green energy we need for our future. McGrath will have photos of windmills all around him and will vote for all tax breaks that Shelly will tell him to vote for. UNLESS, they happen to be near him or one of his friends. Like Wiley, if McGrath can see anything he will side with the nutcases of the world and oppose what he thinks is so great for others to do. Just like that wind project in MA, its really great, just not near me. Donkeys like to have it both ways. Then they hate BB for following through on what was their own policy in the first place. Very strange, dishonest folk these Democrats.

Dont be concerned about who will rplace Ken.. He loses the election so I guess he stays where he is.
7:57p.m.: What a bizarre statement. How else would one judge a company other than by what they've heard?
Tell ya what, go buy a stereo from SmartBuy and a sofa from Afforable Furniture, and leave the blogging to the big boys
1:48 I've listened to what you said. Now if I hear it from others, who aren't trying to make political milage out of it, I'll put even more credibility into it. I have never heard what you are claiming before.
Little Boy,
With Big Dreams
Hopefully someone who will (gasp) cut spending and lower taxes, all while standing up to the public employee unions. Does such a politician exist in Jefferson county?
not with little bri. he will not stand up to unions he has already promised them the world same as addie and darrel and darrel.more like dip and stick
How on earth could we ever replace the incompetence if Blabberbush?
This is a tough election for me, I like Brian and cannot stand Ken, but would love to get him out of Jefferson County.
TimeBuyer?
I thought it was Tom Beyer.
