Saturday Night Notes

-Tuesday night primary parties will be at the Italian American Club in Watertown for Matt Doheny and Saranac Lake for Doug Hoffman.
-State Troopers are doing campaign calling for Doug Hoffman, according to a source. Mr. Hoffman's son is a member of State Police.
-Don't look for Patty Ritchie to make the first attack move in the SD48 race. She is said to be pleased with her low key, one on one campaigning and feels it is effective and consistant with who she is.
-But if Pedro Espada wins his Senate primary in the Bronx, look for the GOP to go on the offensive quickly against the Senate leadership. After all every Senator in the caucus voted to make Sen. Espada the majority leader.....The Democratic Party has gone all out in support of Espada's challenger. That's one of those districts where the Democratic primary is the election.
-AG Hopeful Sean Coffey who is popular among NNY Democrats is downplaying a Siena poll placing him in third place.....Certainly supporters of Eric Dinallo and Richard Brodsky should consider picking one of the top three who can win. Its looking more and more like Eric Schneiderman will win despite polling but 4% upstate.
-Look for an endorsement Sunday in the WDT for Matt Doheny as the paper absolutely cannot stand Doug Hoffman.
-An aide to Hoffman today told me he checks this blog at least a dozen times a day....True or not, I like the flattery.
-Former City Cop Ron Cole just came into Petes and saw me typing....Says he is an avid reader.

If Espada wins where will his alliance be! Not that anyone would want him, his vote could control the Senate. If he wins and it is a one vote difference they will all look for his support, no his vote.

Here's how many facebook friends Patty and Darrel each have.

Patty Ritchie: 2,183
Darrel Aubertne: 853

I wonder who has the momentum going into the general election?

No doubt Darrell.. Patty is very content to keep low key.. Long Island GOP is doing her dirty work througha Va. firm. Patti really cant talk about anything because shes told not to speak. She want what we all want lower taxes more jobs you know all the good thing. So does Darrell. Think realisticly about who if anyone can do these things.

9:44, maybe you should check how many of those people are registered in the 48th?

oh wait, you won't, just like patty plate didn't check the people who signed her ridiculous "anti-tax" line petitions

outside the district? unregistered voters? who cares! she hates the new license plates and thinks she can make a difference in albany!

have fun (IF she wins) being a lapdog for skelos and the LI republicans. facebook fans equating to grassroot support. you're a peach.

Boy that ten o'clock guy is really excited by Long Island. Talks about it in every post. I never really thought the place was much to get excited about.

News Flash for 1:25 AM. So the Democrats haven't been able to fix everything that's wrong in the less than 2 years they have controlled the State Senate. Well, how about the 60 almost uninterrupted years the Republicans were in the majority in the State Senate????

159.. I do get excited as is my right when people from Long Island dictate what happens here in my home area. You other guys get real excited about Shelly I have a right to get excited about Skelos.. Twin towers... He too someday will join Bruno in prison or have you forgot Joe Bruno who run the majority party for years..

Interesting WDT article on how the the new Excelsior program, which replace empire zones, will provide no benefits to the North country. Empire zones benefited businesses across the state.

When the Democrats- most of whom are from NYC- gained control of the state senat they terminated Empire Zones and replaced them with film production tax credits- which almost exclusively benefit NYC- and Excelsior - which benefits urban/suburban areas. Hmmm... coinicidence?

would u rather have thelawyers and truck stops rip us off with an Empire Zone status? Maybe you oughta read this tidbit

7:57,
Maybe it should be abolished. The point is if the state is going to have economic development programs, be it empire, excelsior, or whatever, it should include all regions of the state and not exclude the north country.

There were a lot of local businesses that benefited from empire zones. This program helped mitigate the impact of NY's draconian business climate. A more sensible approach would be to improve the business climate, but Albany keeps making it worse
by passing more and more taxes, fees, regulations, and mandates.

Hey 8:31 you forgot about our local Economic czar. And all the jobs are created by them, like BFW.
