Obama Calls for $50 Billion Public Works Plan - NYTimes.com

More spending on infrastructure....What happened to all those shovel-ready plans from last year's exercise in spending money we don't have ?
We will send in the applications again because as the saying goes..."if we don't get it someone else will."
$50 Billion isn't really a lot of money if its supposed to keep us all enamored with the federal government....We want something for nothing and we want it now !

This is the same thing we heard last time. We all know what got shoveled last time. Now we're going to spend another $50Billion. No doubt it will go to the teacher unions, government programs, fun stuff. That's why it will probably pass.

Spend it like we got it! Becuz, really, what real harm does it do? Exactly! None. But, if spending it actually stimulates our 'Economy'... no harm, no foul, and a whole bunch of Union help filling family bellies! So, spend away!

If I were a party line Donkey, I'd quietly tell Evil to shut up. He really makes you guys look like fools. But then again, you are. He could be a spokesman for your candidates.

Ever think of writing some letters to the editor, E Man? Yours is an opinion we'd like to get out there as much as possible, before the election.

This public works idea is an election year action to show the administration is doing something. It's hard to call it a stimulus because it's paid for by reducing tax benefits to oil and other businesses. I am waiting for next year when the parties start debating the whole range of spending priorities and taxes. I'd actually like to see a larger multi-year commitment to basic infrastructure to enhance economic recovery and growth.

No NY23MD204, these funds didn't come from cutting tax benefits to oil business. The funds came from borrowing from the Chinese. We will be able to do this for while longer. That last 800Billion gave us nothing to show for. Hopefully this little 50Bil will actually be used for something besides Donkey political payoffs. But I doubt it.

Hoepfully some of this money would go to constructing the rooftop highway.

Hopefully not, as we don't need it.

Why not take 177 all the way from Adams Center to I-87 (the Northway) instead. Two birds with one stone.

Rather than waste taxpayers' money on rigged contracts to rebuild roads, the states should lease their highways out the way Indiana and Illinois are doing, and use those funds for upgrades.

Kind of like selling NiMo to National Grid?

No thanks.

For the money The Great and Annointed One already spent, we could have taken 177 from Adams Center all the way around the world.

It is shovel ready.
