With absentee votes to be counted tomorrow comes word today that the Watertown campaign office for Doug Hoffman is cleared out...perhaps a sign the campaign is getting ready to fold or at least retreat to their Adirondack redoubt.
Insiders with likely GOP winner Matt Doheny say they are giving Hoffman time to grieve and are hoping for a way to access his supporters.
Doheny is doing standard campaigning in the wake of his apparent 51-49 primary win.
Problematic for Doheny or any Republican is the possible disaster in the statewide offices with only AG candidate Dan Donovan thought to have a chance to break through against ultra left candidate Eric Schneiderman.
Incumbent Rep. Bill Owens is already on the air with folksy ads showing the candidate in blue jeans claiming to be creating jobs.....The optics are good even if the message just isn't true. (You see I scoff at any politician who claims to be creating jobs.)

Dont count on too many Hoffman supporters supporting Doheny.. Owens just hasnt done a bad job and he is very popular with the average joe voter.. I think Hoffman stays in knowing he and only he has a chance for victory not withstanding finances.. You see people like Hoffman has to worry about mone6 .
Seems voters have come to their senses after their sumer vacations. Dems that toe sucker Dick Morris had dead and buried on his chart are back in play, and some like Arcuri in Utica have a lead down the stretch. So much for that Tea Party Tsunami.
This blog is like a personal press release for Doheny. Why not wait for the final count or drive by and see if it is really closed before spreading the rumor?

I agree with 2:01, Harry Wilson and Dan Donovan have excellent chances of winning. Donovan running against an extreme leftist and Wilson running against a corrupt life-long politician.
As for Doheny, I think he's in big trouble. Winning the primary by a nose isn't going to convince enough of Hoffman's supporters, who are largely irrational voters, that they should switch to him. I also agree that Bill Owens has done a fine job and is probably the most credible candidate.

Money isn't any thing he worries about. He has to stay in the race so he can make more interest off his loans, fill the rooms at his wifes motel and pay his firm to work the books. That is two more months of income for him.
Ryan has greener pastures to attend to and without his 24/7 direction, Hoffman is clueless.
Romney endorsed viable Republican Congressional candidates in NY. Doheny was not one of them. I predict Owens will win by >5.
Good points 2:52 its always nice to have all those things you mention.There is something I wont do and thats put a man down for earning decent money but when it comes down to collecting interest while running thats wrong.

How much did Doheny make on Wall St? And Owens is in second place.
That lakefront mansion that Owens created for Hoffman last fall in a commercial is a complete and fabricated lie. Hoffman's structure is 400 SF. He rents it to pay the taxes.
He's got money, but he can't fund a fully-blown campaign like Doheny could.
Our first poster claims Owens/Pelosi hasn't done a bad job. Which part of the "job" do you support? The budget, healthcare, lawyers for terrorists, Guantanamo, unemployment, bailouts, stimulus packages, coming tax increases? You too, Evul. Which part does ya like?
I love the part that he got rid of a Republican in this district. Gone forever and will reappear as a democrat.. thats what I love..I love watching people like you post Owens/Pelosi while you should post for Doheny/DeDe or Palidino/Ritchie or Forsythe/Bruno they all make as much sense.
My postings make sense, that's why they upset you. Owens/Pelosi works because Owens/Pelosi are one in the same. There are no legislative moves that Nancie doesn't control our boy on. He's a puppet, a caboose, a follower, a man with no mind of his own. He only knows what Nancie and The Great One tells him. This is disappointing, as I had always believed lawyers had minds of their own. He is a complete failure. But I'm sure Donkey leadership thinks very highly of the boy.
Owens' new Ad is almost comical ... corny, really.

I see Pelosi traveled over to Maggie Rizer's wedding this week. Wonder if she demanded an Air Force jet so she would have to see dirty street people on her non-stop flight from San Fran.
