Looks like the race for the Democratic AG nod is between Sen. Eric Schneiderman and Nassau DA Kathleen Rice...A Siena poll has the two bunched at 25% and 23% with Sean Coffey at 13%....The other two candidates are way behind.
If you look in the cross tabs, Schneiderman is the clear leader in the City and the heavy turnout of two Congressional primaries in Manhattan will help him. Ms. Rice leads in the suburbs....
The most telling is the 4% Schneiderman draws upstate....the worst of the five....
This shows the discrimination of the shorter voting hours upstate and that's just fine for Schneiderman who led the charge to count upstate inmates in the NYC neighborhoods where they committed their crimes.
Coffey, Brodsky and Dinallo voters will have to ponder whether to support Rice or go with the wildly liberal Senator from the Upper East Side.
The WDT today editorialized in favor of Coffey and many local Dems back him including Sean Hennessey, the Jefferson County Chair.

Hi Jeff - thank you for your post. This is Tammy Sun, from the Coffey campaign. I wanted to contribute a few additional points.
This is a three-person race. Until and unless nearly one-third of the electorate makes up its mind, the race is wide open for any of the three frontrunners to win. Upstate voters will play a major role in the outcome of this race.
Sean Coffey is the only candidate who is running a truly statewide campaign - from the North Country to Nassau County. No other candidate in the race has devoted the kind of resources to Upstate than Coffey. Sean has spent more money and more time than any other candidate communicating directly with Upstate voters.
You right raise the issue of shorter voting hours. Many months ago, Sean Coffey began shining light on the unequal voting hours between upstate and downstate residents. He has called on both legislators in this race - Schneiderman and Brodsky - to take on a leadership role in the Senate and Assembly to deliver fairness to upstate voters when it comes to polling hours. So far, no response. This is an important issue that deserves more attention and action from our elected leaders.
Another important issue is the property tax cap. Sean Coffey is the only candidate who has taken a strong position in favor of a much-needed property tax cap at 2%. Sen. Schneiderman recently voted against an overwhelming bipartisan majority in the senate to pass a 4% property tax cap. DA Rice has taken no position at all.
Hope this was useful and thanks again for the post. If you want to learn more or view any of Sean Coffey's ads that are currently airing, please visit: www.coffey2010.com.
PS - I want to thank you for pointing out that the Watertown Daily Times endorsed Sean Coffey today, editorializing that “Unlike the other Democratic candidates…Coffey is the outsider in the race who should not be deterred by personal loyalties when pursuing corruption cases.” Also, we are grateful for Sean Hennessy's incredible support.

Ms. Sun --
Where does Mr. Coffey stand on gas hydraulic fracturing otherwise known as "fracking"?
Hi Bob - Sean Coffey has said that he supports the moratorium on hydrofracking in the Marcellus Shale and he opposes fracking in the NY Watershed under any circumstances.
Hey Tammy....You or your candidate can call the HOTLINE radio program Monday between noon and one pm on WATN-AM 1240 in Watertown. Studio number is 315-755-1240

Thanks Jeff. Either myself or Sean will dial in at noon. Looking forward to it.
What a great way to get information on a candidate. Thank you very much.
Gas extraction by hydrofracking of the Marcellus shale formation is a major state issue considering its impact on the underground water supply for much of the state. It is an important issue for me and I'm pleased to hear Mr. Coffey's position on it.
Mr. Schneiderman has not done anything to address malpractice reform and has, in fact, sponsored proposals to make it worse. While it is underplayed by the trial attorneys, the malpractice system in New York dramatically increases healthcare costs for patients, while not improving the quality of care.
Mr. Schneiderman, on a Senate floor speech, used the often quoted, but bogus statistic that 4% of the doctors are responsible for 95% of malpractice. The more accurate number is that 60% of all doctors are sued sometime in their professional lifetime. New York is suit happy and Mr. Schneiderman is one of them.
I will certainly support Mr. Coffey on Tuesday.
Well unfortunately Mr. Coffey's campaign mouthpiece forgot to mention that he is a multi millionaire who has had a light shone upon his pay for play business connections. He has no administrative experience whatsoever. Nice guy, mucho bucks, and has contributed generously to the Republican party and their candidates, including to the Ohio Republican party. Not the kind of Democrat I would vote for.
Schneiderman and Brodsy are part of the Albany establishment. Rice is more interested in herself than the people. Didn't even have time to vote for 19 years and only became a Democrat about 5 years ago. People should really look at Dinallo. He is the best of the bunch.
Shame on the Coffey group for campaigning on 9/11
There's always somebody.
