WDT: County Seeks Mercy Closure

For their sake, I hope the people who live at Mercy and Whispering Pines don't read the paper.....Imagine learning your bed is going to be sold out from under you or that the powers that be are chomping at the bit to eliminate the place you call home.
On what authority is the County government offering to buy out Mercy Healthcare and precipitate its closing ?
Whose money would have bought the license for nursing home beds at $6K a pop ?
Why is it all so secretive ?
Watertown Daily Times Mercy rejects group's offer

Shadow Government rearing its ugly head again. Are the city legislators on the county board going to stick up for Mercy? It will be intersting to see.

Ken Blankenbush is the master of secret government - since he became Jefferson County Chair, he revamped the website - REMOVING legislator meeting minutes, resolutions, etc. from the website. Whatcha hiding Ken, more secret wind deals that benefit you?

Ken hiding in the shadows? Well, if you had his record, wouldn't you?

Isn"t Nabywaniac the president of the new corporation behind this? no conflict of interest there, of course. Persuading the county to buy assets and turn them over to your corporation is strictly within the bounds of good local government.

When are we going to wake up to the parasite gov policies? Steal our taxes in the name of wind, DANC wants to build apartments, etc. I'd like to know what little deals BOCES has with the school systems too.

Didn't realize that the county board minutes aren't online anymore. Just a couple years ago I remember thinking that Jeff Co was coming into the 21st century. Blankenbush will be at home in Albany the way he runs things here.

Closing Mercy and Whispering Pines will blow up in his face. I know we need to cut costs, and maybe even close facilites, but aren't there ways to do it that acknowledge some human dignity? Protect jobs? Avoid scaring vulnerable populations?

Ken doesn't care about "regular" people. It is that simple.

Mayor, you really shouldn't be commenting on county business. Stick with your fountain.

I disagree, this IS City business - 300 people work at this place in the CITY!

Keep fighting for us Mayor!

This is not county business exclusively, this is city business as well. The jobs, the families, the residence of these facilities and the buildings left behind after new construction.

If you think this is exclusive county business than you are Nabywaniece or Bbush.

I wouldn't want to be Blankenbush. That guy is not a good guy. I'd rather be almost anybody than Blankenbush. I hate county business. If you were Blankenbush, and you went home, would they feed you?

You'd probably have to go out to eat. And work on county business and votemongering.

Why is it , that issues , that the Jefferson county legs. promote, seem to sneak up on us? Why are the people, whom issues effect and tax, are the last ones' to know? And the County says "this is what the people want.Bbush is going to change this practice in Albany? Bah, hum-bug.
