The Rev. Al Sharpton wouldn't like Watertown and its nonpartisan city elections....Rep Sharpton just put the kabash on a proposal for such elections in the City of New York. A charter commission has been considering them for years. That leaves Watertown the only city I know of with this form of government born of the Progressive movement of the early 1900s.
Sharpton and others say nonpartisan elections would allow rich people to dominate elections....You mean richer than the guy who just spent $109million buying a third term as mayor ? Sharpton and others played the race card and argue minorities are better served by a partisan system in which one party dominates virtually all city elections. Sort of like a Democratic Party plantation.
Watertown has had nonpartisan elections since 1922 but there is little evidence the wealthy dominate who gets elected.

+Your reference to a democrat plantation makes me think you are funning the black folk in NYC.. From the plantations in the South which produced Cotton and Watermellons and were harvested by the poor blacks.. Is this what you mean Mayor or am I interpeting you wrong.
2:40 'plantation' is a code word, why don't you get with the program. By the way did you know the populations of Watertown and Wasilla, AK are about the same size, 26,000 people. Did you also know that Levi Johnston is running for Mayor of Wasilla. Levi,probably figures that any idiot can run that town and the perks are pretty good too.
No it means folks limit themselves to one set of political masters and rely on promises of largesse as the price for lockstep allegiance to the Democratic Paarty..

Over 90% of blacks vote Donkey. It doesn't matter who is running. You have to give the Democrats credit. They pump the crap and the black community swallows. Year after year. Congrats.
And in return they go to prison more than other groups. They have more kids out of wedlock than other groups. They are unemployed more than other groups. They make less money than other groups. Their inner city school suck more than any others, because they are controlled by teacher unions, which control the Donkey party. But I'm sure there is no connection there. Boyee, this party line voting sure is working out for them. To quote my friend Dannie, I'll betcha things are about to change. Betcha. Just one more election cycle and things will change.
