Cuomo Decries Albany’s Intense Partisanship

Andrew Cuomo understands partisanship as well as anyone. As his father's political enforcer...as a cabinet secretary...and as a candidate for statewide office.
Nonetheless he deserves the benefit of the doubt in his stated desire to move past blind partisanship....When Mr. Cuomo acts puzzled over why parties vote in lockstep..well he knows why it is that way.
Essentially, to prosper personally or legislatively you have to play by the rules....and the rules require adherence to leadership of the party...You try to make your impact through those channels.
That's why 32 Democratic Senators voted in favor of every budget bill and 30 GOP Senators voted against it. Once they had made their pitch to get a favorite program included...assuming they were satiated to the extent possible, they owed it to leadership to vote in lockstep.
That's governing....No need to be amazed at it.

Amen. Elections have consequences. Or should. I get a kick out of Vanity already proclaiming some sort of conservative ascendency as if the tea party landslide that's supposed to rock the Dems in Nov. has already happened. Earth to Vanity: the Dems handed you and your listeners your ass in '08 and until the Repubs can somehow reclaim the House or Senate you are in the same place you were on Nov. 5, 2008: toast. belly up. Reduced to little more than ruling Apalachia.

This scares me. The person most famous for espousing bipartisanship is the most divisive POTUS and political figure the nation has ever seen. And now our future governor is echoing his mantra. Maybe Glenn Beck is right...this is bigger than all of us.

Cuomo 2.0 ? --------Mario Lite ? Hamlet on the Hudson Redux ? Hud honcho ------Lord we're doomed .

NYS is already a laughing stock and a poster child for dysfunction -- i remmeber 06 when a FORMER AG was gonns change everything on DAY ONE

Fool me once shame on you -- Fool me Twice shame on me -- I don't think so THIS TIME .

I remember Mario . I worked for the state for 3 decades -- it was an exercise in futility -- analysis/paralysis 24/7 in Albany
THEN and its only gotten worse .

NY is in meltdown and frankly we are seeing and hearing the same old political nonsense and NO ONE has a CLEAR and Consistant approach to reform . SOOO Many Pretenders -- we're doomed !!!

All the little dumbasses, Americans, have been sold on the concept of Free Stuff. Therefore, we are left with the one party that is all things to all people, and the champeen of Free Stuff. I hope you're gettin' Free Stuff, Evil. Otherwise, what's the sense?

Mayor Graham,
Stop excusing excessive partisanship. Dede did fine as a state lawmaker without constantly parroting the party line.

Albany would be a lot better if legislators would buck the party line and call a spade a spade.
