New Dem Message: We Hate Our Friends

I really went to Andrew Cuomo's Watertown appearance with an open mind as I had really not heard much about his ideas for what he wants to do as Governor.
I liked the discussion of integrity in government, living within a budget and reforming the structures of state and local government.
Now I know its all easier said than done. Remember on "day one everything changes" ?
Still, Cuomo and the legacy of his father, is an imposing figure in NY politics, and by force of will he probably could get some things done.
What I found fascinating was how the Democratic high command, including Mr. Cuomo, throw their current leadership under the bus and with dripping sarcasm, ridicule them and say how ashamed they are of them....
Them being David Paterson, Sheldon Silver and John Sampson.
Even the legislators like Aubertine and Russell openly talk contemptuously of their own party and its leaders.
Today, Ed Koch labled Silver and Sampson as enemies of reform. I believe Mayor Koch as he is sincere. These others are awfully close to the regime of corruption to be condemning them...
Nonetheless, I enjoyed what Mr. Cuomo had to say and think there is merit to much of his message.

Cuomo can say what he wants about Thug Shelly, but Andy will be Gov in name only. Shelly is the real power in this state. Sheldon is the one who has decided to spend our state into oblivion. He is the criminal in chief. I wish Mr Cuomo luck if his intent is to take on King Shelly. But I give him little chance of success. Sheldon is the one who makes all decisions. The only people who can change that are the voters. They love him. Vote Donkey.

645.. I agree with your thought. Our government is screwed up. I however dont want to go back to the Pataki days or the Bush era. A Gov. who hid on 911 and held the coat of a city mayor while he was trying to calm the ;eople. A president who could have prevented 911 but chose to ignore it.. Higher taxes started in these administrations. Mr. Bush took us to war to settle a vendetta his father had. We are still mired in that war loing our young people on two fronts. I know you feel its Obamas fault however how long now since Bush claimed MISSION acomplished.. I live in Ogdensburg and with the majority of the council elephant I have seen what that party can acomplish.. After years of prospering under Lockwood a donkey we now have declined to the verge of bankruptcy.... Yah man quit voting Donkey and lets get the GOP back in office.

Wow, when are people gonna stop blaming Bush? I mean seriously! Come on! Obama has spent our nation into massive debt, and our state legislature has spent our state into debt!!!! Your telling me that you want more of the same here in NYS? Get real! Look at your city officials. They have to work with what the state gives them. And right now, thats not too much. Why? Because those in the state assembly and senate have spent themselves into a gigantic hole! So yes, vote republican if you want to see some REAL change in our country and in our state! Not this so called "Change" Obama and the other democrats proimesd in 2008. We need some REAL CHANGE that we can TRULY BELIEVE IN!!

I think it's fair to assess a party's ability to govern by their last turn at it.

So, it's not so much "blaming Bush", it's assessing a party's ability to govern by the performance of their last great leader.
