All of conventional wisdom says Doug Hoffman is a dolt, a dweeb, a teabagger, a whack job.....That's the MSM and the GOP establishment....Could they be wrong ?
Mr. Hoffman has commissioned a poll that shows he leads fellow Republican Matt Doheny 52-20 in a potential primary. Now I am sure the poll was done and released as a tactic, but it could mean there is a Hoffman core vote that isn't linked to the esteemed chairs and leadership in the Grand Old Party.
Maybe the MSM could split the cost of a poll in the district.
Also the primary is still two months off and Doheny is only now rolling out the media buys.
Doug Hoffman will have to spend a bit on his own behalf and has to close the deal. He did not do that last year in his meteoric rise to near victory. (remember the TV debate)
That is why Doheny wants to lure Hoffman into debates, where he figures its leading the lamb to slaughter....The lamb may not oblige.

Looks like a clear sign to me taht Hoffman is going to be the nominee. A 32 point deficit is tough to overcome in any period of time, but we're less than two months away from the primary. It's time the GOP liine up behind the people's candidate...line up behind Doug Hoffman!!!
Not so fast my friend....52-20 heh.. I find that hard to swallow.. Is that based on a poll taken of 72 people in Scaranac Lake or Lake Placid.. I dont believe a random poll of GOP followers in the 23rd has Hoffman leading by those figures in percentage.... I know that up here in the North Country around Canton Massena Gouverneur, Canton most Republicans I talk to are supporting Hoffman but not by those figures.. Ogdensburg is heavily Hoffman but its the only place.. A little more conservative figure might be believable.. It dosnt matter if every GOP head votes to support Doheny it seems Hoffman has made his mark... However remember this this area votes Democrat most ofthe time...

Debates.. What do debates really prove.. A speaking problem.. The questions are loaded in most cases and each party gets some prior notice about the questions.. That is in some cases.. In this case I cannot help believe that Doheny people will try and buy the MCs so as they have a decided advantage.The questions will be rehearsed quite some time ahead with Doheny and the answers will be what most people want to hear.. NOt necessarily what will happen...To Me Debates should be out.. ONly someone desperate would want to get involved in them....
A friend of mine was called and asked questions like... "Are you more likely or less likely, to not, not vote for Matt Doheny, them to not vote for Doug Hoffman, for Congress in the primary. Likely or less likely." The home schooled don't stand a chance. And Hoffman wins the poll. What a fraud.
Doheny is desperate.. All the money spent and its like nothing happened... Ive considered both canidates and I see Doheny saying whatever needs to be said to get elected. Anyone who follows campaigns knows that this is an unscientific push poll from a desperate candidate. Instead of paying himself interest on donor contributions and conducting unscientific push polls, Hoffman should man-up and debate Doheny.
I think his own poll shows his vulnerabilioty...48% of republicans do not support him..He also skews his poll to certain issue voters...Doheney has just begun his media buys so 20% is not bad.

Well its pretty sad. Last time Hoffman visited up here in Ogdensburg, the paper called it a rally. Yes, a rally of 6 PEOPLE. Matt has energized the Republican party. We need to remember that our current congressman is the one we need to focus on. Matt kept his word last year and backed out of the race when he did not recieve the nomination. Hoffman did not. He went against his word. Matt has stood by his word since the very beginnibg. And I assure you, Matt will have my vote along with thousands of others here in the 23rd because of his can do attitude and his true conservative ideals.

Wow, 5:02, you just seem like you like to rant about things and have no real idea of some reform. Matt will reform things. Hoffman will stand there and get shut down in Congress because he can't debate. Hoffman has no idea of the issues here in the North Country and he is falling in popularity. And he knows that. That is why he has been trying to link Matt with Dede. And you know what? People aren't buying it. If you want some real change in Congress, we need to stop this political BS and remember that Bill Owens is the person we need to focus our attention on. And that begins with us picking the best possible canidate to unseat him. And that caindidate IS Matt Doheny. Theres no Sarah Palin, Fred Thompson, or Newt Gingrich to support Doug this year. Because they know that right now, he is not the strong canidate. Hoffman will appear on the ballot, basically by default. If there had been a primary between Matt and Doug for the conservatie line (as there is between them on the Republican line) you would see that people are tired of Hoffmans crying about last year and would give the nod to Matt as they will with the Republican line. So if you want things to stay the same in Washington, go ahead, vote for Hoffman and create a schism between the conservative/Republican parties and let the Decmocrat win. But if you want someone to actually stand up for US in Washington, vote for Matt Doheny.

If the only thing Doheny stands for is Doheny, then why did he keep his word last year and not run for Congress on another line as Hoffman did? Do you remember that? Each Republican canidate made vows to not run and derail the Republican canidate's chances. No sooner was that vow made (which Hoffman took as well) he was called upon by the Conservative party (as a last resort) to run. And he BROKE HIS PROMISE. Matt was one of the first canidates the Conservatives asked to run, but Matt stuck to his word and did not accept the nomination. Hoffman did. Now, if you want to look at a self serving politician, look right at Doug Hoffman. He is taking intrest on his own campaign all in an effort to make some extra cash, and he went against his word and ran last year just so he could try and prove a point (and ultimatly destroyed the Republican canidates chances). Matt kept his word, has stated that if he does not recieve the Republican nod, that he will back out, and NOT RUN on a 3rd party line. So, before you start trying to blast the better canidate, get your facts in order. Matt will repeal the Healtcare bill. Matt will vote for congressional term limits and pay cuts. Matt will offer stratagies to help fix our nations crippled economy. Hoffman? He will just serve himself and try to get some extra cash (as he is with his own campaign.
