Calling the Hotline is Good for the Soul and Your Campaign

I have been thinking about what to ask if Congressional hopeful and holder of North Country values Matt Doheny ever called America's Favorite Noontime Talk Show.
"Any day now," is the word from the high command. My giddiness is palpable, like those anxious days and hours as a child when Christmas approached.
As politicians go he is pretty successful. He made more last year than Barack Obama, but less than Sarah Palin. And he did all of it without writing an autobiography about those trying days growing up in Alex Bay during the Depression.
He is the best organized of the campaigns this year with his own NORAD war room buried deep in downtown Watertown. As I have said, Doheny is well read and versed on the issues, whatever they are.
As for Congressional je ne sais qua, it's tough to compete with Rep. Bill Owens, who sails through a room like a cool breeze off Lake Champlain. And Mr. Owens has called the HOTLINE twice this year !
So , if and when Doheny bows to convention and calls the HOTLINE, I will pepper him with banality, try to trip him up on sports trivia, and ask him what he really thinks of Doug Hoffman, who will never call any show that is live.
Go ahead, Matt.....make my day !

If you were managing his campaign would you recommend he call the hotline?
I thought the conventional wisdom was that money gets you elected so money equals 30 second spots on pricey media. Hotlines shouldn't matter.

I guess they don’t really play the gotcha game with local politics around here. But it seems like appearing on the hotline one would stand everything to lose if one had a gaff but nothing to win since there are relatively few listeners. And before that is taken as an insult…I said relatively.

Are you managing his campaign.. I thought he was his own person.. If he cant get by a campaign without someone telling him what to do whats in store if elected. Owens listens to Pelosi and hes crusified yet this guy is being led around in a campaign.. Obiously another soldier in a long line of say whatever is conveninet no matter if you can do it or not politicans upstate has produced..Oh I forgot he really isnt upstate...

Wow. Four replies and no mention of Wall St. Must be a record. That Hoffman guy must be on vacation today.

947 Anom... Do you really want to get into Wall St.. I dont believe the boters in the North Country are making as light ofthe issue as you would like to think... How come Doheny supporters are so arrogant in their replys.. Then we have the Nicky Vaugh hate fan.. Every time someone states a fact we hate Nicky..

I think the "boters" can see right through you and your nonsensical agenda.

The problem with trying to bad mouth Wall Street is most of us own a piece of Wall Street. Most of us, through our 401k type stuff, have a bit of that problem in our retirement plans. So some can hate Wall Steet, but we quietly want a little bit of success in that venue.

As far as Vaugh. I hate Vaugh. I don't know who Vaugh is, never did meet him, know absolutely nothing about him. But I know enough to hate him to his rotten core.

The "Hotline" is a good place to get exposure. I try to listen each day, figuring I may learn something new. I have heard Congressman Owens ,Assemblywoman Scozzafava, and Comptoller hopeful Wilson. You know what, informative conversation, does happen. Senator Aubertine and Assemblywoman Russell, have not been calling in, yet they do so with Tv 7; Why Tv7, because no-one asks them any questions, they only tell us what they think we should hear. But, if memory serves me correctly, they both used AM 1240, as a stage to help get elected. If you are straightforward, not wishy-washy, with answers, there is no reason what-so-ever, they these 2 should not call into the hotline. As the "Duffman" says, "fool me once".

Assembly women Russel has been on the show before.I like her even though she is a donkey....lets just remember Duff said Owens will not repeat,he is a one timer his exact words where.I hope he is right although his predictions have been way off base...I will not be controled by a party boss I am an independent thinker with a Republican backbone just thought id let all you people wondering. Why did Juston stop helping out or why are they not getting the numbers they need to win elections. They are to into there own interest. One canidate stands out...Doheny has reached out to people and has made some good moves.I wish him the best of luck I have only met him once I believe if the Republicans and the conservatives can work together he might have shot at the Title.Other than that the smooth guy bill Owens will sail into victory. Hoffman is a muzzeloader with a bad cap on the hammer no shot..

The Hotline, along with Live at Five, has declined to the same few callers. I try to listen too, and enjoy many of the shows, especially the ones with a guest who appears along with Jeff. I like to hear Ms Burns when she is on too. A refreshing voice she is. I also enjoy hearing from Gary Beasley and the SPCA lady, Linda Miles. I hear she just retired. Good for her. Suggestion, get a DEC guy. I'd like to hear about fish and wildlife.

Let's hear more about NOW, JCIDA, WLDC, all the entities that chew and ingest tax $$$$$$$$$$ in the name of economic development, or fixing up an old and decrepit building, Nice to see the county going to apply for a grant so the Donald can sell his paper mill. I'll turn off the computer and check for responses later.

Ask him outright about his orientation. Yes or No then shut up the posters of such nonsence.
Ask him why his business operates oversees and not here in Jefferson Co somewhere...
Did he snub Sheriff Burns and Senator Aubertine ask him these questions then we will all know and not be able to write and quesiton his motives..
