The Jefferson County Independence Party tonight endorsed Sheriff John Burns and Judge Peter Schwerzmann for the offices of Sheriff and County Surrogate Court Judge.
In a meeting at Fort Pearl, the party's executive committee also reaffirmed their support for Congressional candidate Matt Doheny and Senator Darrel Aubertine.
The formal authorizations for those races come from the NYS Indy Party and so far only Doheny has been backed at that level.
Candidates must still gather and file petitions. It is understood both candidates in the 122 AD are gathering petitions and at least one candidate in the 118th....
None of those candidates were present tonight.

Why did u change ur post? Earlier u posted that Addie and McGrath also received it. Change of heart?
No...those people nor their agents were there so some felt that while those two had been previously recommended to the state committee, it is preferable to let it remain silent for now.
It was my error in writing the story.
Big surprise on this one!!Endorsements mean nothing, you said it yourself im trying to pay attention here learn from you political guys.A line is line no doubt but people are voting with there eyes closed these days.I would have to say Burns has the upper hand here he's local although Chuck is dug in pretty good.Ill stay away from this vote....
Its nice to see they backed a winner instead of a wannabe... Sheriff Burns deserves your support.
Wonder if Heinkein will be the required beer now they are sponsoring Operation teen drink???
Should a Sheriff accept the endorsement of a party that is under investigation?
